  • Crossons trail is very easy with no obstacles and you'll welcome the smoothness after losing your sanity on the washboard on the way in. The trail is only about 1.5 miles long and once you hit the gate you can hike 2.5 miles down into the valley to get to the town. The view just before the gate and all the way to town is fantastic and after only leaving my house twice in two months it was a welcome sight. We did meet up with one friend who has been doing a good job quarantining and we didn't stop anywhere but our campsite the night before and the ghost town. The town is really cool, it's on private land but is open to the public for now as long as we don't ruin it. As for the new 23Zero tent and awning, they're demo's from Spirit Of 1876 and I'll be testing them in the coming weeks. Obviously going to do a review of them both but spoiler alert: I loved both of them. Have fun out there!

    My Tires:
    amzn.to/2whk2MF
I love these tires. The only others I'd take are the BFG KO2 but they don't make them in this size and the KM2's are amazing. You can probably imagine the amount of driving I do weekly and how much abuse my tires get.
    My Tire Deflators:
    amzn.to/2nYVxzU
These tire deflators have many $15 copies but the others just don't hold up or are inaccurate. I don't know what the deal is, they look identical to me too but read the reviews- they're bad. I've been using these Staun's for over a year and never had a problem, I air down a lot. Set them at the trail so your tires will be the same temp when you get to the trail next time.
    My Compressor:
    amzn.to/2PuerLH
There are better ones but I'd just get a bigger VIAIR, not someone different. Airs up all my 33's from 14psi to 37psi in less than 10 minutes. The in-line gauge is inaccurate when the compressor is on because of the pressure passing through. You need to switch it off to get a real reading. You can combat this by figuring out what incorrect reading corresponds to the real one. When mine is right at 3 Bar (43psi) it's slightly over 37psi. I put it on another tire and then use my real gauge to set it exactly.
    My Microphone:
    amzn.to/2P1S3sb
My microphone is the worst good mic you can get. BUT don't be fooled, it's a very good mic. Picture me getting in my car for the 50th time after I just ran up and down a hill... for the 50th time. Do you see me disconnecting my mic and gingerly setting it in a case? No. It stays connected to the tripod, gets thrown into my plastic cargo area and bounces around with other heavy items until the next one. It gets terrible interference from WiFi so you must make sure that it's off on your camera or phone. If you are trying to use this with your phone you need to get a TRS to TRRS cable which RODE makes. This is required because your phone will think the mic is headphones.
    My Tripod:
    amzn.to/2o8h6hL
I went through 2 tripods in 1 month, a $20 and a $30. Buy it nice or buy it thrice. This thing gets opened and closed MANY times per week in rain, snow, dirt, and even in the middle of rivers. I love the 2-stage legs so i can make it real low in 2sec instead of shortening all the legs.
    My Drone:
    amzn.to/2KUGWAp
You can tell how easy it was to progress through my videos. Besides maybe five times, you've seen every bit of flying since I got it. I don't fly in the city and I don't go to the mountains and not make a video. It is VERY easy to use.
    My Drone ND Filters:
    amzn.to/2MHV0R0
The filters are a must. Again I have the worst ones and I am still very pleased. My first use was video #35 and I think it is very apparent. Illinois Gulch (#34 obviously) has a completely white sky, way too much blue. I'm still not even good about selecting the right one or changing them out but it's 10x better than nothing.
    My Books:
    amzn.to/2wmd20O CO
    amzn.to/2BzDIBc CO North
    amzn.to/2ByPuvy Moab
FunTreks books are great. I like to bring as much information as possible when I go to the middle of nowhere. They have coordinates and maps for everything, very in-depth info on sturdy pages.

This is actually one of the stops on the Denver, South Park and Pacific Railroad. It starts in Denver and went up Waterton canyon and down to the Platte river where the abandoned hotel is. Then it went along SW platte river road to Buffalo creek. Then it headed NW to pine valley. Theres a jeffco park there now called Pine valley ranch park. The trail in the park that heads west is the old rail road grade and is called Narrow gauge trail. It dead ends at the river not far from Crossons. The grade goes along the river all the way to Bailey. Then it heads south over Kenosha pass and on to Nathrop outside of Buena Vista. It heads West on chalk creek road out of Nathrop and heads to the St Elmo ghost town. Then it winds its way and goes through the Alpine tunnel and comes out the other side of the divide. It goes to Pitkin and Parlen and ends at Gunnison. If you want to do some fun 4 wheeling explore the area around St Elmo. You can hike to the East portal of the tunnel. You can go over Hancock pass to the West portal. You may have to hike some because a section of the RR grade collapsed a year or two ago.

thanks and nice one! kind of want to upgrade my drone lately haha. the biggest things that helped me were looking up videos for best settings for raw, how to color correct and i forget the channel but their video on “flying like a filmmaker,” all those were a big help. if you go back to my 2nd Slaughterhouse video that’s the first drone, should be a noticeable difference haha, i think the sand dune video was the first time i thought it looked better than terrible.

as the story goes.. they were mining gold there and also had guests stay as they passed through on the train. eventually someone looted all the gold and dynamited the mine collapsing it and then screwed the town and everyone left. i only found a few stories on it and they’re all the same but not sure if everyone’s just echoing the first one which is pretty much what i’m doing right now haha.

this might be part of the High Meadow? i’d have to compare a burn map/road map/trail map but High Meadow and Buffalo Creek burns touch each other so could be either depending what spot.

@@BRollOffroad I was born and raised in Colorado you could drive down to the second gate from buck gulch. The road washed out and forest service closed the upper gate. It’s been 10+ years since I last hiked down in there. I hunted that area for years. I now live in Montana, Colorado got over run with people. It’s a cool ghost town it sucks the bridge got taken out.

it’s probably closer to Pine than what i consider Bailey as the crow flies.. but i went to Bailey first to get here so that’s what it gets haha. Google Maps (at the trailhead) says Bailey, Apple Maps says Sedalia hah.
