Im asian, but i love jitsu. No matter how asian or non asian he looks. Hes just an awesome character
I totally agree. Though I do understand why Filmnation never reuse him, again. That’s a shame because I would’ve love seeing him more.
What is wrong with a Japanese samurai style character looking Japanese? Should we just totally streamline and with eugenics create one global race so not to offend?
Joey Kelly I do think it’s not offensive. I mean you want racist you just have to look up Mickey Rooney playing the Japanese guy in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Geeee.... a movie about a Hooker involved with a mobster trying to find true love with a gigolo suffering from writers block.... sigh.... you people.... And he’s no different than any other comic relief character in a Korean Flick... and I got my “replies” turned off... so don’t bother....
People just like to compain and get on their high horse to make themselves feel good. It's the symptom of an overly affluent society.
I prefer the Jitsu with his Infinity Gauntlet lol
Rob M a glove makes more sense. He sort reminds me of Cock-Knocker. LOL
Its just me or Dans voice and videos take us back to those happy moments in our childhood!? :)
Thanks Dan! Always great reviews! Loving Super7's Filmation characters, so spot on! While I'm a huge MOTUC fan, I grew up with the cartoon so having these Filmation characters on hand is like fulfilling a childhood wish!! Keep it up S7 and thanks Dan for the awesome coverage throughout the years!! Can't wait for the Funko Thundercats Savage World! 😊
I'm part Asian and I don't view this guy as a "racist caricature". He's just a cool character, that's all. No need for anyone to go "SJW" over this guy. Granted, I prefer the classic figure due to the better looking armor and the cool gauntlet he has. Also, Jitsu sounds better than Chopper. However, I still think Chopper is cool.
He looked a lot more yellow on the show.
he actually was in 1 episode of the 1980s cartoon Filmation series "The Dragon Invasion"
It doesn't make any sense to me why they didn't use the name Jitsu in the Animated Series, but he still looked like a Samurai anyway, like wasn't that the reason they didn't call him Jitsu because of the Racial overtones of the character in the first place? I don't get it but it is what it is. I much would had rather him have the big Golden Chopping Hand in the Animated Series as well, I don't get that change either, made more sense to me to have the Hand like they used for Fisto, then having him with a Giant Mutant Looking Hand like they did in the series. I still like that there are two versions though. But would've loved to see the Filmation Jitsu in Figure form, not as Chopper. Awesome Review.
I really like this years exclusives. Now I gotta get me some.
Jitsu should have a big gold right hand. Lol
I really wish the eyes were more cartoon accurate. I get it...They thought it was too stereotypical with the "slanted" eyes, BUT that is how he looked on the cartoon and we want these to be as cartoon accurate as possible. On the cartoon he was also more hunched over. Since they decided to make him, I just wish they would have nailed the sculpting a bit more.
Adrion Jones agreed, and I always found it ironic how Japanese anime typically draw all the characters with BIG eyes lol It’s like come on, nobody has eyes that big.
It's a pretty good compromise
@@calumryan6328 It is. The change definitely isn't a dealbreaker or anything. Nostalgia just makes me crave the original design.
Horrorman I can see why they would feel the need to change it.
These are awesome, I don't have any, but really want one or two. If you have anymore to show off please do. Great video Dan!
Thanks Pixel Dan for this great review, blessings! 🤘
Why do so many people get bent out of shape when ever they make a character based off a culture or something like that? Are creators never supposed to be creative or use inspiration from other cultures to create a product? Take Spirit from G.I. Joe for example, that would never fly today. But why? I just don't understand why people get so upset when stuff like this is put out.
Just my opinion, but I think the main problem that people tend to have isn't so much that these characters tend to use design elements that are seen by many as stereotypical (and thus, often offensive or degrading). To use your GI Joe example, Airborne is, like Spirit, a Native American character, but since his design is based more around his military specialty instead of his ethnicity, it's far less problematic for many people.
Shane Everett- It's just SJW political correctness crap! That's all!
Soy Boys!
It woul be likely that Spirit would have all the cultural background that he did. It's like when an Asian character knows a martial art it's far more plausible than a white kid in Kentucky being a ninja master.
It boggles the mind when people want "diversity" but then complain when they look "diverse".
Get to the chopper
Maybe he should be considered as a different character than Jitsu
He’ll always be *Jitsu* to me with his BIG gold hand. Aka the *Infinity Gauntlet*
I didn’t know that ‘Chopper’ was banned because he considered racist back in the 80s. I had heard that if they had an Asian hero figure as it wouldn’t be considered either racist or negatively inclusive.
Personally I think Chopper is what would happen to Mr Miage from Karate Kid if he went all Vader.
I think it was mainly the eyes and the skin tone being exaggerated.
Awesome review as always.
chopper is one awesome figure. glad ive pre ordered it great review dan.
his name is Jitsu not Chopper
Cool review. I like it but I wish they had worked in the ab crunch on him. Not a deal-breaker, though. Still a very good release from S7. Makes me wish I had bought the CLASSICS Jitsu as well.
This figure is beautiful!!!
He's FAB. 2.0 Whiplash and Multi-Bot next please!
Are these shipping from Power Con now?
This figure reminds 🤔 me of what old school Benihana Restaurant chopping artist chefs looked like before such restaurant allowed multi-culture employees (which is great 👍)
GET TO DA CHOPPER!!
Damn, Chopper is badass!!
not Chopper it's Jitsu
People complained that an asian character looks asian?
SJW s think that asian eyes are ugly . They dont want toys showing "brock" style eyes.
Oh i get it now, Chopper.....because he chops things.
Now we just have to wait for a more accurate toy versions of Jitsu and Fisto...
the Filmation figure is the most accurate
Nice video pixle dan
Chopper? It's jitsu!
No, it's Chopper. It's explained here: ua-cam.com/video/drbFe24hpgw/v-deo.html
@@melkor2301 In the Filmation cartoon series he was known as Jitsu and in books and coloring books that's what he was known as hack in the 1980s I dont know who came up with the name Chopper
you're so very righr
Vastly prefer the classics original but its cool they did Chopper
I was going to get him but I couldn't justify it being a tad overpriced to get along with Dree Elle and Uncle Montork.
if I had the money I'd get every MOTU figure that there ever was from both the Classics and the Filmation lines I love the MOTU
The figure version of jitsu looks a lot like super powers samurai
Classics Figure wins. No question!
no the Filmation is much better sculpted and more closely resembles what he looked like in the Filmation cartoon series
Im sorry but to say that a cool Asian character is racist just because some people trying to be politically correct say he looks too Asian, has got to be the dumbest thing ever! So Clampchamp design is racist too? For the record, I'm latin and would have no problem having a latin character in MOTU.
Filmations Spikor is so much better looking than the classics line.
I see Filmations never produced a Whiplash , huh ? That's too bad.
Please please please don’t let the liberalism infect our toy culture and your reviews. Your “elephant in the room” was the last thing I would’ve even thought about..
I don't see people angered over the cultural Scottish roots of Fisto
Because Libtard, SJW, Socialist, Soy Boy leftist say it's fine to be racist to whites but at the same time they say they are not racist. I know they have a cult mental disorder but the best way to end it is to not let them have the narrative. Shut their PC crap down any chance you get and send them into a screaming, belligerent ,crying fit.
I really dislike Club Grayskull figures, the intentionally lack of details is not that appealing to me to a hte motuc line which already suffered for qc issues.
no you're wrong the Clib Grayskull Filmation line is totally awesome they look most like what they looked like in the Filmation cartoon series and o dont see any of laws
I can only assume that you have never seen He-Man and the Masters of the Universe(1983-1985) cartoon series. How else could you explain as to why you “really dislike” Club Grayskull line of action figures. To each their own, I guess.
@@mpdoboj Actually I've grown with 1983 series. However now that I saw origins line I regreat to have wrote that comment!
Glad I got most of my MOTU at Matty Collector when they did Black Friday Sales.... they had them for 10 Bucks.... not into these Cartoon Versions, just not my cup of tea....
you should be these cartoon versions are the most accurate I wish I could get the Filmation versions they're actually the best version I would also like to get the Classics version also The Filmation version puts even the Vintage line to shame and the 2000 MOTU Origins to shame
I don't think theres anything wrong with the figure. But I do think people need to revaluate how they see asian people in media. This is not what an asian person looks like. I can let it slide as a design from the past; you can't change the past but I do hope that people look forward with accurate representation. If you think that slanted eyes and a wu man chu moustache is doing justice to a culture theyre basing their character from. Then i'm sorry but you're wrong. Again, nothing wrong with the design as its from the past but I would not let it slide if someone designed a character like this now. Theres better ways to base your characters off of cultures.
Nice review, but it‘s just not the style I like for my MotUC figures. Easy pass.
Of course snowflakes will get triggered by an "asian" looking character.....just can't please everyone
Ha! gay
CHE SCHIFO
The legs look messed up. Can’t quite place my finger on it, but something is off.
