@@EdButlerDetroit I admit I'm always defensive about Detroit, having a mom from Brightmoor and living on a blue collar street in Mt. Clemens. I've never encountered crime in Detroit. And I'm not wearing blinders.
Atlanta feels very unsafe a lot of time between traffic, quick tempered people, high costs of living. Drag racing. I'm willing to be it's passed or passing Detroit. In fact I'll go so far to say it's probably like the old Los Angeles before it became more latino.
I live in CA and the weather back in the Midwest scares me. Well actually I know what it's like, spent a huge part of life shoveling snow and freezing in my boots, surviving the blizzards, and trying to stay upright on ice. My family lives in Detroit though, and I so desperately want to visit on the first chance I get. Visited several times in the past and always had a wonderful time. Detroit is definitely one of the best cities.
Hi Mr. Butler. I am working as a Medical Office Assistant in a hospital in NYC where I was born and raised. I am saving up to one day buy a home and I hear great things about Detroit and want to move here. However, I still need to do more research on how to start out in a new state: job, where to live, transportation, etc. Plus I heard that the taxes are pretty high. I have watched all of your videos which are pretty darn helpful. Any tips or ideas on how and where I should start? I appreciate your feedback. One more thing, I don't have a car, and being a native New Yorker, I rely heavily on transportation. I also researched auto insurance and read that it was high in payments. It's a lot to think about, but I just want to make my move.
Hi Saitheleton! I think that sounds like an awesome plan, and to make you feel better, taxes here are less than of what they are in New York. You guys have some of the highest property taxes in the country. Being in the medical field I don’t think you will have an issue with employment, so I would continue to research. And plan a visit to check the city out!
@@EdButlerDetroit I was more talking like the grit of Detroit is unique to Detroit but Houston has a similar type of grit In the personality. I feel if Detroit could diversify its businesses and its people I would have no problem coming back
Absolutely! It’s loud! They set off M80 for no reason. Idiots ride around with loud speakers in there trunks. It’s unruly! These people think you owe them something!
I think the people of Detroit should vote different political party. Because crime would go way down and the neighborhoods would be much safer. Because the results of voting the same political party for decades hasn't shown any results.
How about the 7 miles red? Is there a lots of gun violence and is it walkable? Coming from NYC that's a concern...whether it is safe to walk? Also is it LGBT friendly?
Hey Chris, I imagine you me 7 mile rd? We have a street that extends the length of the city named 7 mile, but since its so vast there is no way to generalize the street itself. In some parts its really nice in others not so much, and walkability varies as well.
@@EdButlerDetroit ok thanks for the reply also is it gay friendly? Coming from NYC, that's a little concerning..I heard they have a gay center..which is good..probably is safe for the gay community.
@@dollyfox66 Detroit is one of the most liberal cities in the country, so i don't believe you will have any issues there. As a large majority minority city, we are all in this together!
Thanks for the wonderful well spoken narration of Detroit's revival and future! We share that vision!
Thanks Frank! You know we do, appreciate you!
Definitely on the way up. I live in rural Minnesota. Some of the crimes out in farm country are horrific.
You can say that again, it happens everywhere, so we can’t put Detroit in the corner like it’s unique to the city.

Love to hear it, definitely not the most fun place in the winter but the spring summer and fall are great!
The investment is amazing right now
So much more room to grow! I love it
Good video Mr Butler.
My favorite restaurant closed downtown: the new Parthenon. 😢
One of my favoirtes just closed down in Brush Park! I feel your pain! haha

@@EdButlerDetroit Thank you. 🙏☺️ I definitely will. When my vacation time comes I will visit Detroit.
Well done.
Thanks sir!
i moved to hosuton. the crime is here but the metro area is close to 5 million people and only in 3 areas only
I don’t doubt it, large population for sure. Great city I hear as well.
@@EdButlerDetroit Houston is what Detroit could be
I don’t disagree, sky’s the limit. A lot of old oil money in Houston though to always fall back on for the economy.

Yea Detroit’s crime issues have very little to do with politics.
I have lived in Detroit all my life and now I find this out r u kidding me
