Gary not only shows us the fun stuff we want to see but also educates you along the way. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. If no one has told you today. Thank you, you are appreciated!
Gary, I'm sure that many of of my fellow viewers know this already but I'm gonna point out some additional facts relevant to your very important statement, "the investment doesn't stop at the purchase of the collection" at 17:12. Here goes -- you are not only investing the $2,550 you handed over for the collection plus the costs of cleaning/pressing and grading/slabbing, all of which you mentioned. You also spent 7 hours of your time driving to acquire the collection, burned quite a bit of fuel for your vehicle and accrued some incremental wear-and-tear on it during the 500-mile trip. Once you're back at home, you have to make space for the new arrivals, unload your vehicle, sort and inventory the comics, do whatever initial vetting you need to do re: keep vs. sell and grade/slab vs. not, possibly re-bag some comics, and spend time making arrangements for cleaning/pressing and grading/slabbing, as well as spending time on sales efforts for the comics you don't plan to keep for your personal collection. Oh yeah -- the time you spent making this video kinda sorta factors into the total time investment as well. The hours add up. I think that many hobbyists and folks who sell their personal collections fail to appreciate the magnitude of the total time, money and effort investments that are involved in purchasing an entire collection when the buyer's plans include resale and the buyer is reluctant to lose money at the front end of the process (that is, by paying the owner a really generous price that'll seriously impact the buyer's ability to make money from the investment in the short term.) I assume, Gary, that you hope to at least break even for your efforts, and I wish you success.:)
@@VeryGaryComics Pretty sure that you could do better for a new best friend, but I'm happy to help. :) By the way, lest anyone think I'm a dealer or flipper looking to justify my place in the fandom food chain, I am actually a hardcore "comics are for reading" partisan, and hardly any of my estimated 2,000 "readers, reprints, bombs and beaters" are worth more than two or three bucks apiece. Buuuuuut, having said that, I also believe that financial speculation is good for the hobby, and I like to see people adhere to common sense and common courtesy in their business transactions. Seems simple enough.
Great haul. The multiple keys, made it even sweeter. Great value even with the leg work and submission fees you’re gonna come out pretty good on this one. Not too mention the great content that will come out of them. Can’t wait to see these back from CGC
WOW! Even an old guy like me learned SO MUCH just watching you go through the X-Men boxes alone. Knowledge is power along with condition being everything!
Really cool to see you get ahold of the entire Claremont run through 267 and it sounds like you are interested in reading it. While not all keys, the Byrne issues 108,109, 111 through 143 are probably all collectable enough to send to CGC. Of the remaining run, the Paul Smith issues from 165 to 175 have really great covers and stories. Between 175 and 268, the covers on 210, 212 and 213 and the 256, 257 and 258 are the best.
Love these haul videos. Stoked for the stacked GPA’s once you get everything graded and added up too. That was one of my favorite parts of the ‘best collection of all time’ series. Keep it up sir!
Regardless of the CGC costs, you got a great deal for all those comic book keys, multiple copies of quite a few of them too!! You will definitely make money on this collection!!
Wow that X-Men run is absolutely sick! What a great haul. The five Carnage and Venom first basically paid for the collection with how current market is going. Oh man unreal collection, nice grab!
I recognized that highway thru Scranton. Driven it a few times. Got good friends that live in that neck of the woods. Been a couple years. Hopefully next summer so I can take my son. He's never met them. He lives in Wyoming with his mom. Love your videos! KEEP IT COMICS!
Cool of a viewer to give you the first shot at the collection and very nice collection at that . You also have gas costs for the drive as well as night at a hotel and the time in driving but still worth it. I look forward to doing some collection buying and flipping myself.
Brilliant collection, great price and the condition of the comics are amazing. Shame i don't come across collections like these in the UK. Super excited. Stay safe now.
What an awesome collections! And so cool to hear the story from the side of the seller (in the comments). When you said you were driving down to Virginia I thought "this has got to be a good collection". Glad I was right.
Real nice collection grab dude. I love seeing all the x-men books and the asm keys. Thank you for showing this get. Keep up the exciting content and I look forward to the future videos that will be coming from this collection.
Great buy on that collection ! Even after factoring in the drive , gas, tolls and time to pick up that collection. I figure it was still a win for you.
I know I’m on the West Coast but I’m currently re-bagging and boarding my entire collection, we’re talking 1000 plus books. I’m putting them in new bags and boxes then finally putting them in alphabetical order. I do this because of you and others who say how much you appreciate how clean and orderly a collection is. Let me tell you, it’s a TON of work but I’m staying true the organization.
hi gary great video some great books which I have most of them ,just got back my first submission from cgc I sent in 16 books in nothing major ,just trying the water every think went smoothly learned a lot and leaned a Lot from your vids sold 4 in the first week as I have been made redundant due to covid 19 and with a retail background and at the age of 56 not much chance of getting a another job so turning my hobby into a business is what I am doing and really appreciate your hard work so keep it up and stay safe Steve G UK
Right in my back yard man saw my exit at Port Rd. Love the shenandoah valley man one of the most beautiful places in the US. Ive been looking for collections near me so much lolol. This wouldve been about 45 minutes from me. Love these videos man keep up the awesome work!!
Would LOVE to see a CBCS verified signature submission vid. It's a relief to know there's a way to slab and add value to all my signed books. Definitely wish I would've held on to some I've sold over the years.
Nice buy. I had 25 of those Wolverine #1"s, all signed by Frank Miller. We brought him to Vegas to do a signing when it first came out. He was cool, spent a whole day and night with him. He liked to party back in the day, he had never been to Vegas. The #2 was worth more than the #1, because 25 percent of Marvel's print run was ruined due to a flood. Made it a low print run. Little known fact.
Watched the full vid., was impressed with your tenacity to go all the way with that collection...of course you said you contacted him but didn’t say what he showed/told you of the collections contents...obviously worth it! Good luck in the future...
Loads of nice runs there and really nice to see no keys removed from the runs + there being multiples of some. Very nice sir. Hope you get some good CGC results back. For the 9.8's... Next Men number #21 btw for the First Hellboy(It is part 3 of a 4 part arc..). All the best from Scotland :)
I was hoping to hear you sing Country Roads when you entered West Virginia. Loved the tiny mobile house. Looking forward fot the CBCS Jim Lee unboxing.
Very fair price with room for you for sure. I was guessing about $2000 personally. You will probably make most of that back on the X-Men alone and the rest is your gravy! Nice haul
Gary not only shows us the fun stuff we want to see but also educates you along the way. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. If no one has told you today. Thank you, you are appreciated!
After a full month in the hospital I am finally out. I have to thank you for all the time that I spent watching your videos. Greetings from Greece
I love this channel because he actually reads the comments. He's always liking comments people make

Love it when the seller lets you tell the price you paid. Can't wait for the analysis at the end!

Fantastic buy buddy! I'm in shock at the secret wars 8 multiple copies ! You must be having a ball! Well done Gar !

These on the road hunts are really fun. This was a great find. Looking forward to the end results.
That’s a gold mine of keys! Holy cow 🐄 can’t wait to see the latest videos
I recognized that highway thru Scranton. Driven it a few times. Got good friends that live in that neck of the woods. Been a couple years. Hopefully next summer so I can take my son. He's never met them. He lives in Wyoming with his mom. Love your videos! KEEP IT COMICS!

Damn Gary these videos just keep getting better!! Asm is one of my favourite runs! I’m always keeping it comics!!
I love for you to do a video about cleaning and pressing. So many people do it differently and there's not much information about cleaning
I'm especially looking forward to the unboxing of the CBCS submissions...keep it comics!

Another great collection picked up there my friend. 👍👌
I like that you give the price, gives us a better idea of what kind of prices we can expect to pay when acquiring collections. :)

Wow, awesome buy! You are obviously dedicated to the comic investment side of it and clearly work hard at it. Glad to see it’s paying off.
Nice pick up with this particular collection! Money well spent.

It was more than worth the drive, what an amazing collection!
7 hour drive, well worth it! Most excellent of hauls 🤘🏻
I appreciate you adding the financial details/projections. I'm always curious about that.
Would LOVE to see a CBCS verified signature submission vid. It's a relief to know there's a way to slab and add value to all my signed books. Definitely wish I would've held on to some I've sold over the years.
