Exactly. Plus walking with a camera makes it worse ? They probably think anybody with a camera is recording how most people don't know what they have, so they get defensive sometimes ?

@charlie cole I sorta believe it because Aquaman 1 is over $200 dollars even in ugly condition. Lol it wouldn’t be in a cheap bin anyone can just grab.
That guy wanted someone to pick out all the good books so he wouldn't have to figure it out himself. I had that happen a few times. $1 bin books turn into not for sale books.

I recently bought a bunch of Warren publications from the 1970's they included, Creepy, Erie, Vampiirella and Marvel Monsters plus some really sweet Skywald Psycho magazines and a Doc Savage # 1.
Imagine bringing those books to a flea market just to give them a little of fresh air, not selling. 😄😄
I kinda get tired of people have items up for sale you pick thru then they dont want to sell. Great vid kinda shows the real world of hunting.
Those were the best set of comics and slabs I've at a flea market. I have had zero luck but will continue to hunt at flea markets

Nice video, a few decades ago I took a dozen long boxes to our local flea market for 4 weekends in a row in hopes to unload my crap books, sold them 2 for a dollar. In a month I sold only half the boxes. The reason I stayed a month was was you got half off your booth if you committed for a month. Made about 800$ clear. All the books were basically free, When I was young I worked at 1 of 2 comic stores in Vegas for a decade, and the way the owner paid me was in Comics, so for 10 years I never paid for a new book. I started at 10$ a day, got up to 30$ a day after a few years and began running to store. What a fun job to have as a kid, as I became an adult I maxed out at 30$ in books a prime rib dinner every night and all the weed I could smoke. Good times!!

Gotta thank you man. You've motivated me to go hunting more than i use to. Today i find 2 issues each of venom 1, 2 and 3 1sr print for 5$ a piece. All look mint. Gonna pay it forward. A friend got me back into collecting about 2 years ago so I'm gonna hook him up cheap on one. Thanks again man. Keep it comics.
Great video. Sucks that dude decided not to sell his "best comics". Why would he keep comics he's not willing to part with in long boxes with all his other comics?

Gary, I'm very jealous of even your small flea market, ( that sells comic books ) especially when I saw the graded books.
Interesting that one particular dealer refused to sell to you, because I doubt he's going to get better offers on those books, as they looked very low grade.
But I'm glad you found something, to make the journey worthwhile.
Yeah, in IL we seem to have comic vendors like the guy who SUDDENLY decides he won't sell his comics because you happen to be recording the session on video like he's giving something away too valuable!! I have been actually kicked out of stores for doing what you did because i simply am not afraid to NEGOTIATE. These guys think that the guide prices for a 9.8 apply to their less than VG comic books...it's hilarious!

Here is my proven flea market comic buying technique. Make a sign "I buy comics" on both sides and hold it up as you walk. Dealers that have comics and know nothing about them will chase you down. Sometimes they have them tucked away, or even in storage. Now, you get first dibs on an collection. Dealers that know comics will fear you!!

Why would you bring all those voice to a flea market and set up a table to not sell? That's crazy. The best Spiderman cards are the ones with Mark Bagley art.

Have been to Storyville hunting for comics. Hot or miss but nice to do on a beautiful day. Not so much when it rains.

Gary, I have all 12 of those McFarlane Era Prism cards (6 from the first series and 6 from the second). Are they actually worth anything these days? I've had them in hard plastic shells since the day I pullled them from the original packs.
Those card wrappers are just as valuable as cards!!!! Don't crumble it up!!!🙄

I wish there was a flea market near me that had some cool books like those you found bro. I went to a local one last weekend and the best book I found was a Demon #10 in 2.0/2.5 condition for $20! What a joke. Anyway, good luck next time.
I feel like you need to go to flee markets with a game plan. Don't advertise that you know what you are looking for AKA wearing merch, don't talk about a guys comic collection at the booth, keep talk of key issues to a minimum or none at all. You will get more guys like the one who refused to sell his good comics because the vender knows you know what you are doing. Some guys love doing business with avid collectors but others will be hard asses with pricing and haggling.
Maybe you guys showed too much enthusiasm and excitement with those comics and it turned to guy off for selling them to you. Always keep a poker face when dealing. I would have just put them all in a pile and made him an offer. It seems he was alerted that they are worth a lot and he decided to do more research. Obviously he doesn't know much about comics. That was a lost opportunity.

How bad is it on the comics & toys staying under direct sunlight for a few days like that. Otherwise, best venue to prevent covid.

Hi Gary, thanks for the video,fun to watch and I am learning always a ton from you. I am from the Netherlands, so it is harder for me to hunt: there are very few LCS, flea markets with comics and the like.
But, two days ago I found a comic shop online with three comics that I was able to buy at cover price and less: 1st Galactus Lifebringer, House of M 1 the sought after variant and, for about 3 dollar, Hawkeye 9 2nd print variant, the sought after Aja copy. I am awaiting the package, here is hoping for a good quality.
I would never have been able to spot these gems without people like you sharing your knowledge. Thanks for helping me with the hunt! :-)
