I just realized that Kidder's Lois warmed up to Kent more when she found out he sends half his check to his mother.
Thank you for pointing that out. I never noticed, but after you said it it made me really happy. XD
Lois warm up beCause when Clark bumped her at the desk she Felt how Big he was Hung.
Perhaps it’s just childhood memories, but I always liked how the early Lois was much more of a mature professional woman than later. Course now they have to put her above him.
I love how all the meetings start at The Daily Planet, then out of nowhere Smallville is like, um yea no naked in a cornfield. :'D
MoS
HAHAHA
I honestly just started the show and haven't seen that part yet
@@aanyamallick7747 Lois first appears in season 4
Except for Man of Steel when they first meet in the Ancient Kryptonian ship.
😂😂
God, Reeve was so good at adjusting his posture and body language….
He was and will always be the definitive big screen Kent/Superman.
As a poster from another video put it: "You'll believe a man can act".
@@CDHfilms Don't snark - his tan was one of the reasons he was chosen for the role.
Reeve was shy. A true Clark Kent.
@@JasonON 1¹1¹
I'm amazed at how Reeve makes Clark practically invisible! His acting is incredible in and out of costume but the chemistry with Lois is always there.
That was the first production to make Clark shy and nerdy to hide his identity. The comics and the earlier shows, Clark is as bigger than life hero as Superman... So she had to be an idiot of an ace reporter to be fooled by glasses alone. Part of the humor for adults watching with their kids.
Brandon routh did a pretty good job of that as well.
He's my number 1 pick for superman Dean Cain and Tom Welling are my number 2 Tom being him as a teenager/growing Dean being adult respectively
Reeve's played the character as Kal pretending to be Clark.
Lol his bumbling act made him stand out the most
Tom & Erica will always be my favourite Clark & Lois, it was Smallville that introduced me to the Superman universe. Teri & Dean are a close second for me.
I think the reason the show worked so well for so long was the ensemble cast. Tom Welling started out as a quite limited actor, so they basically filled the cast with good supporting actors and told a story around him. As he matured as an actor, the show only got better for it.
Erica Durance was my least favorite Lois. She had no chemistry with Tom Welling. I thought he had much more chemistry with Chloe.
@@samanthachin488 Clark and Chloe still had better chemistry. I thought Lois had more chemistry with the woman she was trying to get information from when she got stabbed.
Tom is absolutely amazing.
But I enjoyed Smallville until they started throwing in too much Superman/Krypton characters and themes.
I never was a fan of Superman or Batman.
So I enjoyed Smallville like I did Heroes or Misfits.
Not as a part of Superman franchise.
In the old days of Smallville, I was a total fan of their performance as Clark&Lois. Their chemistry together was off-the-chart and we used to call them 'disgrace' for the beautiful chemistry they had when on the show together...I was utterly in love with them. They were simply perfect together as Clark&Lois...naturally, there were factions, and different fans thought that Tom&Erica weren't good as a couple, but for us lovers of the duo there was no game for other ships!!!! Tom&Erica, our disgrace forever!!!!!!! The most perfect Clark&Lois on screen!!!
Setting aside different eras, FX technology, and production values, there was never a bad version of those two. All the actors/actresses brought their own thing to it over the last 73(!) years
So true 👍
It's actually been 83 years since 1938, but who's counting. It's amazing that we're only 17 years away from Superman's 100th anniversary. And to think, I can remember when Superman: The Movie came out in theaters in 1978 (the 40th anniversary) like it was yesterday!
It's so refreshing to see someone not use new technology & production values in film to bash newer takes on beloved franchises such as Superman
Loved Erica Durance as Lois.
She was my crush too. 🥰
No way Margot Kidder was my Lois Lane
She's HAF
Erica Durance just killed it from the moment she said "I'm Lois Lane." Smallville was probably my favorite Superhero show of all time because of how incredibly well written and creative it was and its version of Lois Lane's back story has to be my all time favorite. The new Superman and Lois series on CW which is also very well written kept most of that back story which I identified with coming from a military family and having my mother die young like hers did. Kidder's first meeting with Clark was fairly normal and traditional although her first meeting with Superman was simply iconic.
Erica Durance really killed it
@@Marvinfootball970 Yes, she blew them all away!
@@karenp1687 yeah absolutely
The other actresses portrayed Lois Lane when Erica Durance is Lois Lane.
Smallville is one of the very few TV'S shows that actually improved in the latter seasons. They got away from the meteor feak of the week and brought in the rest of the DC universe. 🤓
The Erica Durance and Tom Welling versions of Clois in 'Smallville' will always be my favorite Clois duo of all time.
Lois, not Clois. Kal-El’s love interests are always L-L, like his mother. One would think it sickly Freudian if I didn’t know it was just the writers being lazy, back to the time of the Jerry’s Siegel and Shuster.
@@Egilhelmson “Clois” refers to ‘Clark’ and ‘Lois’ relationship. ‘Clana’ refers to ‘Clark’ and ‘Lana’ relationship. It’s just shorthand (an abbreviation) to describe the relationship that is being referenced. In this case I was referring to the relationship between Clark Kent and Lois Lane, together referred to as “CLOIS”.
Tom Welling and Erica Durance were unbelievable. Best chemistry on Smallville and as Clark & Lois.
Teri and Dean, endless chemistry.
"You like to be on top, got it.", then that quiet laugh in the elevator. I wonder if that was scripted or Dean broke character and they left it in because it worked.
She was the best Lois I've seen. Dean Cain at that time looked like a handsome version of John Boy Walton in the glasses and makeup...so it fit. Onscreen colaboration was THE BEST.
The chiseled features of George Reeves was the original drawn closest Superman though, both as KalEl and as Clark Kent. A lot of farm boys coming out of WWII getting city jobs in the 50s after their education and experience looked just like that. My Dad sure did.
blah blah blah blah blah
William just doesn't like Grups. Bonk-bonk
Or he just returned from another riveting and insightful climate speech by Greta T.
THE best Lois & Clark chemistry for sure, she was the best Lois of all, great great acting, and Dean is my favorite lark because of the heart and the writing of the show that it's incredible, Reeve was the origin so I do not compare with anyone else, Tyler i an older version, very different approach from L&C, his appearence tho does not fit at all.
That was rather humorous. LOL!!!
😅😅😅😅😅
OMG the chemistry between Terri hatcher and Dean Cain is amazing, this make me want see the serie again.
I just watched the series again and enjoyed it even more than the first time.
It was impressive given there were many rumors that they did not like each other in real life.
@@nhlpa17 I've read they are good friends despite their different political beliefs. She invited him to her book signing, and they went sky diving or bungee jumping (or something like that) together at one point they lobbied for a season 5 together
It's aged pretty well and is still an entertaining series. I remember watching it as a kid when it originally aired for all the Superman action but seeing it years later I really enjoyed the whole Moonlighting vibe they went for.
Yeah the synergy is top tier
And the show's acting age very well
Smallville Clark and Lois first meeting is epic! ;P
I agree this was the best meeting of Lois and Clark, but I have to say that Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder had the best Lois meets Superman.
Indeed.
Only true fans will remember that episode.

Kidder & Reeve had better Chemistry
@@commanderbracey7501 Margot Kidder & Christopher Reeve
@@bigwillietheb Reeves and Kidder were the Superman and Lois of my youth. I love them.......watching the superfriends on Saturday morning back in the 70s. Reeves was Superman on the big screen. But as an adult........I thought........Teri Hatcher is HOT as hell. 😍
@@commanderbracey7501 they were mine too but they will always be my favorite lois & Clark & that is Reeve not Reeves , that would be George Reeves from the tv show superman
I think one thing that many of these clips show is that Superman/Clark has to hold back a bit and reign in part of himself because of his powers, but Lois is quite comfortable projecting her strength. That's probably a key reason why the dynamic works so well.
Exactly. She's the alpha when he's out of costume.
They are who the other wants to be.
Lois is just a human woman who goes above and beyond to be the best in the room.
Clark is a super man who wants to just be a human man.
Smallville’s will always be the best cause he hates her for like 3 seasons and it cracks me up
Ikr it's the best tension build ever
She irritates him but I don't think he hates her.
Tom and Erica will always be the best for me 🥰 #CloisForever
That little laught Clark does at 24:19 really sells it for me, Tyler and Bitsie are perfect renditions of the essence of Lois and Clark and will be forever in my book.
I just love that moment with Hoechlin/Tulloch’s Lois & Clark at 21:47 where Clark turns and sees Lois for the first time and the music comes in and time stops for Clark and he’s just awestruck. One of the most beautiful Lois & Clark moments in cinema hands down.
The part later when she's talking to her friend and her friend says that Superman has a thing for her, but she's in love with Clark was part of what made me love this series so much. XD
Tulloch is far and away my favorite Lois. And, as unpopular as it may be, I claim Routh as favorite Supes. Reeve was best at it, but Routh stole my heart.
Tulloch is the least attractive Lois. I can tell Tulloch was chosen because she favors Margot Kidder. She has that same emaciated smokes ten pack of cigarettes a day look. My favorite Lois Lane was Erica Durance from Smallville. She embodied Lois Lanes confidence, wit, and sexiness. 🙂
Erica’s Lois smiled after being lifted like that cuz she found herself a strong boyfriend
Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher will always be my #1 favorite, even though the show aired before I was born. The quality of the writing and chemistry was top notch 💯
I never realized how much Brandon Routh looked a lot like Reeves. Not only that, he emulate his nature of being Clark well, I was taken back to my nostalgia! That’s impressive!
I know it's incredibly geeky and awkward to reply to a 7-month-old comment, but I feel exactly the same way! There are so many instances where Brandon flashes a nerdy smile as Clark, and then you suddenly see Reeve. It's the thin upper lip smile with cute creases at the sides of the mouth - and the teeth look similar too. Nostalgia hits pretty hard!!
I appreciate the inclusion of Kirk it always bothers me when people forget him.
He sets a strong pattern for the rest. And Noel Neill REALLY defines the character, as does Fleischer in the cartoons.
Without them we don't get the rest.
People mock "How could just putting on some glasses hide that you're Superman?"....but Christopher Reeve's performance explains that. He IS a completely different person.
When you realize that Brandon Routh looks a lot Christopher Reeve when he was in Clark Kent mode.
I’ve come to love Tyler and Betsie’s portrayal. I think it’s mainly bc unlike the other renditions of Lois and Clark in Superman and Lois we’ve gotten to know them as individuals, as a mature couple and parents who’ve been together a long time.
Ugggh this Betsie chick... What happened to the good old days when actresses were actually _attractive_?
@@wheelz314 She's attractive...she's just older, which is what she needs to be if the character is in her 40's. They're parents to teenagers. And while Tyler Hoechlin is 34, he can play older. Bitsie is older, but can play both. I think it works.
@@wheelz314 Wow bit harsh dude
@@wheelz314 Lol she is a MILF, what are you on about?
Agreed one of things I like about Superman and Lois is we’re seeing a side that really hasn’t been explored until now
Tom and Erica had the best chemistry.
NO!
They used to be my favorite version of the characters, but I think Tyler and Bitsie have them beat in chemistry. I think Dean and Teri have better chemistry, too.
The only ones who had terrible chemistry were Kate Bosworth and Brandon Routh. The others were good or great. If I were to put them in order of best to least chemistry, it would be, 1) Dean Cain/Teri Hatcher, 2) Tom Welling/Erica Durance, 3) Tyler Hoechlin/Elizabeth Tulloch, 4) Christopher Reeve/Margot Kidder, 5) George Reeves/Noel Neill, 6) George Reeves/Phyllis Coates, 7) Henry Cavill/Amy Adams, and 8) Brandon Routh/Kate Bosworth. I never did see the Kirk Alyn version, so I can’t speak to that. Henry and Amy might have moved up the ranks, but the movies just never gave Amy Adams that much to do. I’m sure others will disagree with my order, and that’s fine.
Teri and Dean always warmed my heart. 😏
@@techinrl9869 you did see Kirk Alyn. He's the first one in this video.
Brandon Routh was like a reincarnation of Christopher Reeve
"You've been on the payroll for hours" best line from an employer whenever you get hired.
Erica durance and tom welling the best!
Lois and Clark are my favourite comic book couple and Tom & Erica are my favourite version.
When I was a teenager and the first superman movie with Christopher Reeve was out, I went to see it over and over and over again in the theater. I was crushing really hard, and I couldn’t stop talking about how wonderful Christopher Reeve was as Superman. But, now that I am older, and have a better appreciation of nuance, I can see his genius was actually in his portrayal of Clark Kent.
It will always be Teri and Dean for me. I remember watching it on the BBC in the 90s when I was a kid. They introduced me to Superman
They just added the series to HBOMax!
Agree. They are my absolute favorite! Such great chemistry!!!
Me too
Some people say they want a relationship like Harley's and Joker's. But I'd rather have a love like Clark's and Lois's if it were only actually possible in this cold, dark, and evil world of ours. 😢😔
Why the fuck would people want their relationship to be like harley quinn and joker?
@@bi_beans9011 there’s stupid people that romanticize “toxic” relationships especially teens and young adults it’s so dumb
Lois Lane was first played on the original radio series by Joan Alexander. She lived to 94 years of age. Noel Neil, the second Lois, died aged 95 years and Phyllis Coates, the third Lois, is still with us in 2021, aged 94. Some great genes there.
Donner's Superman really captures the true atmosphere of newspaper offices.Pure chaos.
Reeve was the best. His Clark Kent unmatched.
Tom and Erica😍😍🥰
Tyler and Elizabeth ♥️I'm loving their performances in Superman and Lois
Elizabeth will always be Bitsie. That's how she was introduced in Grimm.
I like how they combined the characteristics that worked and left out the parts that didn't for Tyler's Clark.
After his paralysis, Reeve worked calmly for DECADES to ensure no one would ever be as powerless as he was, again. He was more disabled relative to ordinary people than we are relative to Superman.
He truly had lost his powers. And he was more powerful and effective without them.
For this reason no one other than Chris Reeve can truly be counted as Superman.
Pick your favourite Lois, sure, but for Chris, Superman was his audition to be one of the most heroic people that ever existed.
Young Teri Hatcher and young Dean Cain had the best on screen chemistry in TV history!!!
I love that groan and the gentle knock from Clark when his coat got caught in the door.
Tom & Erica and Hoechlin & Bitsie were amazing.
9:17 Clark’s smile is perfect.
I love Superman and Lois’s Tyler and Elizabeth. They did a good job playing a cute couple
Cute? Really!? Ugh! They are the worst
@@tan5440 why would you say that
Oh, for the days when you could just walk into a major metropolitan newspaper and say "Hi, I have no journalistic experience, can I have a job please?"
Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher easily have the best chemistry. I love the first two seasons of that show. Not just Lois and Clark but all the characters were done really well. Easily my favourite Perry White and Jimmy (season 1 Jimmy) too.
They changed Jimmy for such a stupid reason. "He looks too much like Clark", when he really didn't.
The production was designed that way, to be a 90s version of 'Moonlighting' (hence the creator and EC) with the emphasis on the Lois & Clark love story. Chemistry was key from the very beginning.
Michael Landes got royally screwed. I was disappointed that Cat Grant didn't return, but at least Tracy Scoggins didn't get recast.
@@aaronleverton4221 Absolutely. The first Season worked so well, I don’t know why they thought they needed to make so many changes.
@@TheKingOfRuckus I liked jimmy one better, he was more adult like
Never noticed or forgot that Reeve's hair isn't as slicked as usual in that last scene of his Clark. I also like that with the scene just before they get on the elevator, Teri's Lois sort of looks simultaneously annoyed and proud of Cain's Clark's joke.
Smallville's Clark & Lois ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💕
Brandon Routh EMBODIED Christopher Reeve. From the farm to the city his actions were exact. And when he became Superman, it was so seamless and fluid. And the Lois Lane, I LOVE Margot Kidder. But Kate Bosworth was excellent.
Tyler's portrayal is the best
Hands down.
No way! But i like him a lot!
I don’t mind him but I can’t get behind his new costume
@@johnpaulporrelli6208 I like the overall design of it much better than the previous Arrowverse one, but it's too obviously padded. Looks fine when he's standing or posing, but every time he bends or flexes the pads stick out.
@@-leaford1584 I wouldn’t mind too much if when he’s Clark he’s padded also cause then there would be constancy, and not look like he goes super Sayan when he’s superman.
It's getting so that they desaturate the color, even in bright daylight scenes, so much that in another ten years, we will be back to Superman in black and white.
Very true and great observation.
I guess that makes all this full circle…
No one can beat the chemistry between Dean Cain & Teri Hatcher in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman! Best Lois and Clark ever!
Apparently Christopher Reeve was the first Superman to get his job at the Daily Planet BEFORE he started using Superman to get stories 🤣🤣🤣
I'm so happy that Brandon Routh got to play Superman again in Crisis. And this is a nice reminder of how Superman and Louis are still one of the greatest couples in media.
Long live Christopher Reeve (:
While the first two iterations are rather boring the other ones are really intricate and fun to watch and compare. Each version has something interesting about it.
Reeves & kIdeer- Clark is invisible only until Lois realizes he's a sweet guy who cares about his mom
Cain & Hatcher- Both are headstrong and quick-witted. And they's got the hots on each other
Welling & Durance- Cute-awkward 1st meet and definitely more teen-oriented
Routh & Bosworth- Strictly co-workers, but definitely one-sided interest love from the clumsy one
Cavill & Adams- Had an interesting 1st meet, but divulged into boring exposition
Hoechlin & Tulloch- Very sweet and natural with mutual love and respect from each other.
Boring is rather mean. Those 2 are some of the first ever interpretations of superheroes and respectively the reason they became popular what is boring to you was something kids could watch for the first time EVER seeing there favorites on screen rather than the comic books. Although by todays standards i can see what you mean.
6:32 Some of Clark's awkwardness wasn't an act 💕
"Reeves" and Kidder??
[George REEVES; Christopher REEVE]
I actually find the George Reeves one a good one, pretty good for the time and he just looks like Clark/Superman
Watch more of George Reeves and Noel Neill, the 50s series may be campy, but there's a reason many older folks consider their Superman and Lois Lane iconic: the chemistry is amazing.
Several of these are great, but I have to say Teri and Dean have the best instant chemistry.
I’m not gonna make a Zack Snyder jab, but it is interesting how he’s the first/only person to introduce Lois to Kal-El first and not Clark
To Snyder Clark is just a act that Kal-El puts up.
All of The Greatest American Adventures of Superman, with Every Superman and Lois Lane Actors and Actresses
Reeves and Kidder will always be my favourites followed by Welling and Erica
Erica Durance, la mejor!!!!
Si, Érica tiene algo que te hace decir ELLA es Lois Lane.
Dios los bendiga!!! Saiop!!!
I love the 40s Lois' accent, immediate fancy. ✅
Cool video - thanks for putting together. Amazing how the characters are 1. Almost 90 years old and still going strong. 2. They're so well-conceived and mythologically powerful, that different interpretations are possible and each portrayal is valid.
Nothing lasted longer except Sherlock Holmes, Frankenstein, Don Quixote and Shakespeare.
thanks for showing the Kirk alyn and Noel Neil sequence, i never watched this before
13:19 Right after Lois said: " You're not keeping up with your end of the conversation it would've been sass if Clark shrugged his shoulders and said: " I have nothing too say" *and walks out lol 😂
Hottest Lois Lane ever. Erica Durance. Best Clark Kent Tom Welling. Best Superman Henry Cavill.
YUP!
This is excellent. I have loved versions of Superman for over 60 years. However what, I enjoy the most looking back is observing the way the Daily Planet set has changed (i.e. manual typewriters, electric typewriters, word processors, PC workstations, etc.) from decade to decade or from season to season. Plus how, professional office fashion styles have changed from year to year.
and phone booths to cell phones
Winner of best looking Superman: a tie. Dean Cain and Tom Welling.
Best looking Lois.....Erika followed CLOSE by Teri. 😏
The Routh/Bosworth meeting was less a meet than a "re-meet" as they had that kid together!
When a sun god falls in love with a storyteller. she means everything to him. Clois since 1938 and forever ❤ my favorite duo is Christopher and Margot.
Each of the actors who played these two roles brought his or her own touch to the characters. Picking favorites is hard (I go back to the time of the George Reeves Superman), but other moments with the characters just allow me to enjoy them all.
My all-time favorite Lois Lane moments: Kidder: "You've got me? Who's got YOU?" and Hatcher: "But soylent green is people, right?"
My favorite Clark Kent moments: "Lois and Clark" montage when Martha Kent is creating and Clark is trying on different super-suits; "Superman and Lois" ALMOST matched that with the pilot scene where the boy compliments Superman on his suit: "Thanks - my Mom made it!"
Tyler and Elizabeth is my favorite superman and Lois of all time
I get the feeling "you're gonna have to get through me" wasn't supposed to be taken so literally
Superman rocks
I love them all. My faves are Henry Cavill/Amy Adams and Margot Kidder/Christopher Reeve
Christopher Reeve will always be my favorite Superman (because he was my introduction to the character). But my favorite Clark Kent will always be Dean Cain. He and Teri Hatcher had such amazing chemistry.
Christopher Reeves & Margot Kidder by far the best ever
Smallville Lois was the best. Smallville also had the relationship between Lois, Clark and Superman.
Smallville Superman is the best suited Superman ever
Ironically, Tom Welling was never actually "suited" as Superman. ;1
I am way too invested in their relationship
Thanks for the compiliation, though I have to admit that Superman and Lois is my favorite, even if I also adore Smallville's chemistry.
The 78 scene is an all time classic . Nothing beats it.
Superman Returns, Great Underrated Movie
Well atleast we know 2006 Superman's son is alive after crisis on Infinite Earths
The” Lois and Clark” chemistry was the best one by far! There were even a couple of episodes where Superman didn’t even show up and you didn’t even notice or care!
Clark and Lois are so good on Smallville
Love Eric Durance and Tom Welling
I feel like each of these reflects the current age of the DC Comics.
Alyn and Neil - Golden Age
Reeves and Coates - Silver Age
Reeve/Kidder to Routh/Bosworth - Pre-Crisis to Crisis on Infinite Earths
Cavill and Adams - New 52
Hoechlin and Tulloch - whatever madness is going on at DC Comics right now
You forgot Cain/Hatcher as post-Crisis.
@@rbbecker73 you’re right. That era of DC is relatively unknown to me outside of the animated Cartoon Network series.
@@OneTrueVikingbard The cartoon stuff was its own continuity, though it borrowed heavily from the comics of the time. But the post-Crisis, pre-New 52 "DC Universe" lasted over 15 years, and was probably more coherent than any other time in DC's comics.
Hoechlin and Tulloch could be considered analog to DC Rebirth and beyond (for now and
until the next big change)…
Lois y Clark son personajes entrañables. Cada actor y actriz le ha dado su toque personal ❤
The scene in the man of steel will always get to me on Johnathan Kent's death.😭😭😭😭😭😢😢😢😢😢😱😱😱😱😱
Durance's version could easily be a younger version of Adam's. And remove the brooding from Welling's version it is pretty close to Tyler's
Also I realized that Welling's face is kinda similar to Cavill's, really interesting
Didn't realize there were so many remakes over the decades. Iconic American myth.
Clark Tells Lois, that She Will Never be Alone
It’s sad what happened to the Superman Returns version of Lois. A certain madman from Gotham attacks the paper, poisons the building, and bludgeons Lois to death (presumably while laughing maniacally). Clark is left to raise Jason alone.
There’s a neat moment in Crisis where he sees Jonathan Kent, the son of his alternate version from Earth-38 (except post-Crisis Jonathan is now a teenager and has a twin brother Jordan, both named after Clark’s fathers). And, of course, the hilarious scene of him interacting with his human doppelgänger Ray Palmer
Dean and Teri will always be my Clark & Lois forever!
Somehow the time I could mostly symphatize with Clark was his first jobinterview in front of Perry - in any version.
And two of previous Clark and Lois from different season before Smallville were appeared in that series, even Amy Adams got small role in season 1.
he could deliver half his pay to his parents --fly there..
That Superman and Lois episode is incredible.
