Lucas and Spielberg were at the top of their game back then. I remember exactly how I felt when I first saw Raiders. And these clips bring back that same feeling. Damn , it was a good rollercoaster ride that summer.
@@KutWrite If you watch other Lucas films, THX-1138 often appears as an Easter egg. And Duel ( one of Spielberg's first movies) which I think was made for TV, and it was also shown in theaters, was a great thriller.
That's right. Duel was made for TV. I remember the first time I saw it. And Spielberg and Lucas were known for the Easter eggs strewn throughout their movies.
I have no idea how you managed to track down these filming locations all over the world and then flawlessly match up the framing for every shot, BRAVO my friend.
My mind was absolutely blown watching this!! The attention to detail with camera positioning and time of day vs the movie footage. I cannot fathom the research and time it took to do this! Mind bogglingly impressive! I can't get over how little of the Tunisia towns and landscape hasn't changed since 1980. Friggin' boulders and rocks still sitting in the same places. Just can't get over this!
Funny thing is those boulders and rocks and towns most likely looked like that even well before the movies was shot too. I bet the town hasn't changed much since ww2.
All of these locations have been known for decades now. All one needs to do is have the time, money, and ability to visit all these locations in order to get these shots. In some cases, you might need special permission as is the case with the sub base. Also, as is stated in the description a lot of this is taken from film and pictures people have already gathered.
I rarely comment on videos, but this deserves all the praise it can possibly get. Phenomenal work with lining up the locations with 100% perfect accuracy. Astounding work!
I was expecting a few locations and maybe a little explanation. This is absolutely remarkable! Not only the detail that went into finding the exact location in so many scenes, but even going as far as matching the camera moves. One thing that blew me away is that you could remake the movie today with very little work outside of the set pieces, of course. (Note to studio heads reading this: DON'T DO IT. You can't improve on perfection.)
I'm from La Rochelle, and most people in there have no idea that Spielberg and Ford made one the best adventure movie of all time in their city. Congrats on the video !
Probably the best one of these videos I have seen. Even getting the interior of the actual Sea Plane used...insane. I hope Harrison Ford sees this video.
One of the most researched, investigated, detailed, and flawless presentation of a "Then and Now" from a movie I had ever seen. How you found and gained access to the locations and were able to mount a camera from the same vantage point is beyond belief. SUBSCRIBED.
This is the best then and now filming locations video I have ever seen anywhere!!!! Fantastic attention to detail and the split screen is genius!!! Thank you!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
The attention to detail and the level of effort required to locate, travel to, and flawlessly re-film these locations rivals the efforts of Dr. Jones himself to find and capture the Ark! Bravo, SPECTACULAR work! I'm sharing this with all my friends.
Fantastic! Funny how at 6:57 that rugs are still hanging there on the right.. and they look very similar. Such an awesome job of lining up the shots. THanks!
Wow! It's so amazing how most of these locations, are so much the same, as they were then! 👍 Whoever did this, thank you for all your hard work! Amazing!! 🤯👌💪
New Sub here. GREAT JOB !! I live in SF. City Hall is gorgeous !! The Flight that Indy took to Bhutan was from Treasure Island in SF. It's now a museum. Free to anyone. If you're ever in my city, go there, there is some movie memorabilia from several movies. Also as a treat, find the toilets. I know this sounds weird, but that building was built in the 1930's. Some of the toilets are still the same as they were way back then.
My favourite film and I can not imagine the work and effort you put in to shooting the original locations, and panning of the shots, as you did. Incredible.
It's amazing how little things have changed, whereas the town I grew up in when Raiders premiered is almost unrecognizable from the way things looked there 42 years ago. Great work! Fantastic video!
Indy traveled all over the world, but somehow kept ending up in Tunisia... This is an absolutely amazing project. Thanks for all the hard work, and congratulations on your success.
Absolutely amazing. You found not only the exact locations, but also the camera angles, the camera movements, matched the lens for the location, and even the time of day. Incredible!!!
I would have been most thrilled to see that the location for the "I'm gonna blow up the ark" was still perfect and flawless and not disturbed by nature.
This is Brilliant! The way you moved your camera to match the original film just makes it! Lots of videos on UA-cam but this one stands out with no gimmicks but a lot of thought and work. Really enjoyed this!
Superb work and brilliantly put together. I've visited a number of these locales on trips to Tunisia and Hawaii etc., but not with the attention to detail featured in this video. I don't think you missed a spot. Very well done.
This is so amazing!, One of the best videos that I have ever seen in UA-cam, you can see the very same camera angle and even camera movement!, Thank you very much for this!
Being a fan of this movie since 1981 and now found this.. I still have time to take my hat and boots and go to visit these places thanks to you! Really amazing work! THANKS
Thanks so much for this video! Great work and amazing production and editing. We are in Tunisia and off to Kairouan tomorrow to find the locations - and to see if we can find the monkey! Baaad dates!
Incredible. Well done, 15 when i went to see this film in Preston UK, was late and missed the start of Movie Convoy and decided to watch this as it was 15 mins later. Went back the week after watched it again. It's up there with my all time Favorites. ( Will not go into a movie if its started still to this day) Oh my i'm rambling again. Great work putting this together. Thank you and thank you for reminding me of some great times and memories.
Impressive. Well done picking locations with something recognizable, really cool to see the connection. Surprised how well preserved many locations are.
Love watching these Then & Now filming locations of my favorite movies. Great job getting the Tunisian locations matched up perfectly. 30 years ago I was going to aircraft mechanics school at Oakland Airport and a bunch of us walked over to the museum at lunch. When the docent found out we were A&P students he gave us a tour of that Sutherland Flying boat, it was a great experience. Needless to say we were late getting back to class and our instructor was not happy!
Actual secret is in story board of the film ... Film directors are step a head from magicians and illusionist.... I was in school when the film was going through recordings... The magic is still jaw opening 😢
13:25 This is the same German WW2 bunker they shot "Das Boot" at. The submarine Indy climbs on is the exact same U-boat mockup from "Das Boot", they have just repainted the conning tower. 14:38 This location is called "Star Wars Canyon" by the locals. The scene where R2D2 is caught by the Jawas in "A New Hope" was filmed just around the corner. I think also the scenes where Luke meets Ben.
This is one of the most outstanding “then vs now” type reels I have ever seen. Attaining such detail down to the very exact bricks in the cracked plaster walls in Tunisia shows how much painstaking research was done.
How does this video have only 4K likes? The amount of time that went into matching up all of these scenes is unbelievable. I wish all videos of shooting locations could be done to this level detail. Excellent job!!
Thanks so much for sharing, its a great video! Its amazing how little has changed in approx 40 years. The canyon at the end, where Indy is about to blow the Ark, is that where R2D2 got electrocuted by the Jawas?
This is INSANE! The amount of detail and work that went into this..... unreal!
They could have got the time of day right, talk about a lack of effort! 😂
Exactly this

Do you know what the word 'insane' means, Einstein? Try getting a new dictionary.
@@nickslick75 Get over yourself Nicky. We all did.
man, 4 decades later and this film still feels timeless. a pure action adventure cinema spectacle for future generations to enjoy
It's as close to a flawless piece of moviemaking as has ever been made.
Anyone aware that indy is a pedo
Harrison Ford was feeling unwell the day he was supposed to do an elaborate sword fight, so they just had him shoot the dude
UA-cam does not deserve content of this quality. The amount of time and effort that must have gone into this is absolutely insane.

This was absolutely amazing work!!! How in the hell did you find all of these places?
was about to say the same,i loved it
