If u watch the Elvis on Tour version u can see the instruments and how they play against each other. Ronnie is fire on the drums and the orchestra is just jamming. It’s a sight to see really the control Elvis has on everything. I absolutely love this song and how he has produced it. TCB⚡️

it's been a long time but, as I recall? I was a youngster living in England when Elvis died. my dad was flying f-111's for the USAF and he was stationed at upper heyford. we lived off base and my brother and I were in British schools and had only British friends. dad said it would be a life lesson to experience a different culture. anywho, Elvis died and although I did not really know him 'cept for jailhouse rock, love me tender, houndog, blue suede shoes, and the like, it was a tragic event. a day or so maybe longer after his passing, my dad brought home two kittens. one was mostly white with black feet ears and nose, the other mostly black with white with white feet ears and nose. we named them........ Elvis and Presley. true story! I miss my dad.

2nd comment: Sourced Article below on Elvis at the MSG:
On June 9, 1972, Elvis held a press conference before performing his first of four concerts in New York City. Singing to more than 80,000 people at the Madison Square Garden, Elvis made history by becoming the first entertainer to sell out four consecutive shows at that venue.
Elvis' engagement at Madison Square Garden marked the first time Elvis performed in front of a live audience in New York since appearances in 1956 and 1957 on the Dorsey Brothers, Steven Allen and Ed Sullivan shows. The Madison Square Garden box office success from Elvis' appearance was further proof that the public had long awaited his return to New York and a fourth show was added on Sunday, June 11, due to the first three shows instantly selling out.
George Harrison, Bob Dylan, David Bowie and Art Garfunkel were among the music stars spotted at the shows. Nine days later, RCA released a live album from one of the shows, “Elvis as Recorded at Madison Square Garden.”

Great reaction to a fabulous performance. Said it before but worth repeating-thank god for the fans who took videos and made audio recordings. I never thought I’d be grateful for bootleggers but there is so much Elvis we’d never be able to see and hear today. This footage was fan shot but the audio is from the soundboard

YAASSSS! FINALLY! A REACTION TO THIS PERFORMANCE!
WHOMEVER REQUESTED THIS A THOUSAND & ONE THANK YOU'S ❣️🫶❣️🫶❣️🫶❣️🫶❣️🫶❣️🫶❣️🫶❣️🫶❣️🫶❣️🫶❣️🫶❣️🫶❣️🫶❣️🫶❣️🫶❣️🫶❣️🫶
Elvis was actually the first performer to sell four consecutive shows at the Madison Square Garden.
David Bowie attended one of those shows. I forget which two of the Beatles did as well.
There were celebrities in the audience as well as his fans.
There is a reason why one of Elvis's many monikers was "The Entertainer's Entertainer".
I don't think need to explain why.
So much here what you said is so on point.
Scotty Moore- Elvis's first guitar player who had performed live with Elvis many times- once said that once Elvis hit the stage it was like lightning spilling from a bottle.
Some people are just born to perform on a stage and Elvis was one of those people.
He and B.B. King are my two favorite male solo artists and frontmen for a reason.
They both knew how to connect with people and knew too how to control a crowd.
Born for it. Both men magnificent in their own respective ways.
YES! THIS PERFORMANCE GIVES YOUR GOOSEBUMPS GOOSEBUMPS!
EVEN YOUR SPINAL CHORD GETS GOOSEBUMPS 😂

You have such great insight, Mike. It's interesting how you keep mentioning electricity when speaking about Elvis. Many people have stated that when he walked into a room they could feel the atmosphere change even if they didn't see him. They described it as something similar to an electrical charge. In a press conference preceding his Aloha From Hawaii concert, Elvis talks about the electricity generated from the crowd and on-stage. There's an amazing story that you can Google (posted by Tumblr) called Elvis describes the most touching thing that ever happened to him in 1975.

This is his soul coming out. You are right and pointed it out that he is realizing he is good and the audiences does love him. He said the fans send love and I send it back. Baz Luhrmann who did the Elvis 2022 Movie, found a bunch of unseen footage of Elvis in Concert taken from 1970 - 1972 ish and he is supposedly going to put it all together into some kind of Box Set for release, hoping someone filmed the 4 Madison Square Garden Preformances, that would be Amazing. He has even hinted of a future Movie Release of his Project.

It's criminal that these MSG concerts weren't filmed (and neither was his first Vegas show in 1969, as historic as that is now). Started singing this song in Vegas at the start of 72,by MSQ came round he had done this song around 30 times...Crowd at MSG Were young hippy folks,Elvis was real nervous as if the crowd didn't like you they would let you know...He killed them, sold out his 4 shows in record time and it took the WHO to break his record.
As BB KING said, they weren't wrong when they called him the KING.

Great Review Mike.. Enjoyed it...A bit of trivia. The man who wrote this song, Hoyt Axton, is the son of Mae Axton, who wrote Heartbreak Hotel. He also is an actor and played the father in the movie "Gremlins" who brought home the little critter. He was a great folk singer and songwriter. Elvis nailed this song

Magnificent!! Spot On Reaction, Again!! You tell it exactly how it’s meant to come across with Elvis’s audiences! In the very beginning, Elvis got a reaction from his audiences that surprised him, he didn’t know why they were screaming and going crazy out in his audiences! Once he got that, and then he heard all the criticism from the media, and newspaper articles, he decided to just keep on doing what he knew was right for HIM! He didn’t want to argue with the cinicks, he tried to stay focused and just allow the public to either accept him or not. And the rest is HISTORY!! Who do you think WON?! Going on 48 years of being on TOP, tells it ALL! Always And Forever, The King Of Music Lives On!💗💗💗🎶🕺

Yes this was audience film. You'll recall at his MSG press conference Elvis asked Parker why they didn't film (professionally) the concert & Parker's response. It's too bad it wasn't professionally filmed. It would have been a mega, mega concert to see. I think I detected JD Sumner along with Elvis (3:40 my screen) on the words "never been to England" sounding over-the-top together. Your description of Elvis' electricity, understanding of "street music," etc. is exactly what made him, his deliverance & the way he performed so very exceptional, like no one else ever. Will you get to do "Burning Love" '72 Greensboro, North Carolina ua-cam.com/video/sx7I4DfUGM4/v-deo.html on stage with lyric sheet, with a real enjoyable finish.Thank you for this.

After being roundly excoriated by New York critics after his televised visits of 1956 (on Jackie Gleason’s Stage Show, in January, February and March), and 1957 (Ed Sullivan’s Toast Of the Town in January; and The Steve Allen Show in July), In 1972 Elvis showed the New York intelligentsia who he was, and the latter braided crowns for him. Like what....

Love Elvis' rendition of this song. But there's a better, or clearer, one from a 1972 concert: ua-cam.com/video/DiBgdBJQ99w/v-deo.html. Hope you watch/listen to this one. It's really good.

It really pisses me of how the so called know what he's doing Colnel Parker did not have 69onwards through to 72 all filmed concerts wat a travesty

    Hej Mike

gonna give you some good advice see the video first and then see were you are gonna pause , because your pause timing is really bad.

If he listens to it first then it's not going to be a spontaneous response which is one of the main reasons it is so enjoyable to watch. His natural, unrehearsed ,brilliant, in depth observations
are what make him the #1 Elvis reactor for many of us.

Yes that may be true but pausing at the wrong time is taking a great deal away from people who may have never seen the performance and are missing specific and special nuances of Elvis because they're not able to see the performance in its entirety and if you are pausing at a specific moment when something special is going on and you return to it you've lost that special feeling of what you are about to see in it in its continuity.

You should check out the MSG album version as well. This one was from Prince From Another Planet. I believe it was the Saturday afternoon concert. The evening show was the one mass released in 1972.
