  • Ike bought a Doodlebug DB30 for $40! The downside is that someone crashed this mini bike, bending the front forks badly. Since then, this abandoned mini bike has likely been neglected for years. In today's episode, we get the old mini bike running, fix the forks, and take it for hot laps!

    Even years later, this 3hp mini bike is still a TON of fun! Way more docile than 6.5hp and much easier to learn on! Charles still managed to wreck it though!

    Just something I’ve tried that has worked for me. When working with a old rusty gas tank, after tumbling like you currently do. Buy some cheap lysol lime and rust toilet bowl cleaner, fill the gas tank to the top and let it sit it’ll shine like new.

    On your tech tip: if you pull the oil cap and it flows out, see if it smells like gas, cus if you forget to shut your gas valve off and park it for a long time your carb can overflow and the gas ends up in the engine crankcase somehow. Happened to me. It shouldn’t, but it can.

    If you want to bend spring steel, heat it up red hot and let it cool slowly... You can then bend it without any issue. I do this all the time on lawnmowers.

  • @wymansst
    @wymansst 3 роки тому

    Lol I’ve got a doodle bug and they are slow. I did the budget mods to stock 97cc. Built a home made header, drilled the main jet out (don’t recall the wire size of the bit but did it a couple times and went up small steps), installed a catch can and ran the crankcase vent to it and clipped a couple coils from the spring for the centrifugal clutch to raise the stall speed some and it’s way more fun now. The other thing I found and didn’t fix is the engine sprocket and rear sprocket are misaligned by about the width of the chain. Probably going to cut and re-weld the motor plate or do the jack shaft conversion and fix the horrible gearing. They are notoriously slow from the factory, partly due to gearing limits and can have some carb issues right from the factory based on my research.

    Another FYI, In the minibike community those forks are lightheartedly referred to as “high speed forks”

      @@donellmuniz590 my point is they used to be all over Facebook and craigslist plus you could buy a brand new minibike frame for less than $200 but now the new ones are either $500 or sold out, and there's no used anything anywhere anymore because of people like cars and cameras who buy up every one they find, but what's even worse is most of those people make a shitton of money off them, just glad cars and cameras does it for fun and not for $.

    I have that bike and that motor. Just not together. That little frame holds a Predator 212cc if you chop the rear fender front support bar. Straight clutch no tc. Its one of my guests bikes to ride but we swap and I ride it while they ride my 100 ctu clone as Predator 212cc. Maybe do a Predator 212cc tech tip on how to identify the hemi vs non hemi Predator 212cc.

    I need some advice on my 212 predator!!
    So I just put a new 212 cc on the kart I broke it in as it’s supposed to be added oil all nine yards. My issue is when I press the gas it’s forcing to much and vibrates like crazy! What’s the problem!!
    It used to have a smaller engine and it would rip
