You guys have inspired me to pull out my son's old tube frame go kart and start working on it again. Barn find that ran well for about a year. We know nothing about mechanics, but he's 13 now and we might as well start learning.
20 years ago, I found an old minibike in a field, complete except for a motor. A guy I knew sold me a wrecked, heavily damaged ATC 90 for 20 bucks. With work, I got the motor running good, and put that in the minibike. 4 gears plus hi and lo range, no muffler, and NO BRAKES! Best minibike ever! It ripped!
Explains why there was nothing left. Personally i prefer those soldered copper floats. They don't break down like cork or plastic and can be easily soldered back together when something happens.
Steve from Annapolis Maryland it's great to see mini bikes come back I haven't seen many bikes around for years everything is YZ80 or a KX80 or expensive dirt bikes but mini bikes are just a whole class of their own and so much cheaper and simple to work on keep up the good work guys
When I was 8 years old, a buddy of mine had one with an 8 HP Clinton that was stolen from a sewer vent fan. A Frank Zappa-looking dude friend of his was riding it, and let me have a turn. No Clutch Push Start at WOT or No Kill Switch Compression Stall, I went 3 blocks up the street, and covered the way back WOT in less than 4 seconds, and not ever being sure if I broke 50 or 60 MPH. If you're wearing a crew-cut, and feeling your hair waving in the breeze, you're going into O R B I T , man! Nothing else I've ever driven since after having a driver's license has ever come C L O S E to being lit out of a cannon barrel like that!
They were build for people living a busy cities who have little room. Bikes like these could be brought into the elevator of an apartment complex, and pushed into the apartment for storage. It's a way to still own a motorized vehicle but not having to buy a car, nor store a car. They have powerful enough engines and can go for miles, just not fast. But that's not needed in a busy city with lots of traffic jams, were you mostly have to stop, accelerate and repeat anyway. :) Test them for agility instead.
Its unbelievable how cheap an old kart can be rebuilt to a new quality kart through GoPowerSports. Ive done several Yerfdogs with upgraded parts and suspension for cheaper than a used kart in rougher shape. Its also got my sons excited about something other than video games. Thanks GPS
My first mini-bike! in the mid 70's. EXACT same to the tires, but different tank. Still have it, modified frame, bobber spring seat, running rare vintage Homelte ZIP Kart motor.
More vintage goodness! Just like rat rods, rat trucks, and ratty musclecars, I love ratty old minibikes and go carts! The wear, rust, and patina really show the age.
You guys are always having fun! Watch you every day! Got tons of projects myself. I have an old Coney Cart from the 70s and 3 mancos carts and 3 Baja Warriors and Big China Cart.. Just so many 4 wheelers also. I am 59 and having a blast! Love your channel!
My second minibike, about 30 years ago had a 3hp briggs with a pulsa jet carb and square tank. The tank gasket leaked and seeped gas all over the top of the tank. It had the threaded in pipe exhaust, it came loose and backfired a couple times and lit the thing on fire. Chinese fire drill trying to find something to put it out. Ended up smothering it with grass clippings. It was terrifying and hilarious all at the same time. Ahh the good old days.
I love when you guys make these types of videos it's really awesome you guys should totally make a series of of vlog style type deal where you actually go to the swap meets and pick up the minis/sell some I think it'd be really cool and I think you guys will get a lot of views on it
Reminds me of the Bull Taco mini-bike I had at age 11. I launched it over a bump and broke the plywood seat bottom and frame. Got it welded back up and sold it.
The parts you put on the bike are worth more than the bike I love it. Great stuff guys you look nice and relaxed down there at the Pate swap meet. I think that little mini bike needs a full restoration I'd love to see it get some TLC
Wow, almost 1 mil subscribers! Been here since the original “9 reasons to buy an old gokart” haven’t missed a video since love you guys hopefully I can make it to mini mahem next time
Totally enjoyed this video. I have the twin to this bike and it's #3 in the project line. It isn't a barn find since it spent a good deal of the last several decades in an old henhouse.
I never cared for you guys when you first came out, I guess it was me way too hyper now later down the road in life I opened my own CNC fabrication shop now I am starting to slow down & getting older. The moral of the story is a few days ago you've come back in my life from a youtube suggestion and I can say I am now enjoying your videos.... Keep up the awesome videos.
I got a new one in 1968, mine was green, i remember clearly going to the shop and taking bikes for test drives, my neighbor had a new Honda 50, on the field behind my house we raced, i beat him every time lol
John has learned so much from ike.....3 years ago...that chain might be to tight says ike john maybe we should loosen that up takes 2 more hours adjusting the chain.....now a days ikes says the chain may alittle tight john says awww yeah itll wear in 👍
You guys keep up the good work you got my vote because young kids will really look forward to trying to get their little mini bikes going or if one is handed off to him that's not running and it gets them the inspiration to want to do it keep up the good work you guys Steve from Annapolis Maryland
Bro y’all got to make a new build with the Koehler 747cc efi 25hp shaft drive engine! It’s a beast of a stock engine for cheap! My trucking company ships them out by the boat load and I finally took a look at one and was like this would be an awesome cars and cameras engine! Nobody makes a stock 25hp fuel injected engine really!
I really wish you guys would do a deep video into torque converters red green yellow springs vs steel , zinc, aluminum weights! I figured by now you would of done it lol
Been waiting on you guys to work on a 3.5hp techumseh... Love those little engines... Built my daughters mini moto with 1 and a knockoff mikuni adapted to it blackpipe exhast with a mini rlv muffler...pulls my 220lbs no problem... Think i toped it at 33mph with factory sprocket...
I want to see u guys do a challenge build a mini bike for under a thousand bucks using only things u can buy at tractor supply Lowe’s or Home Depot but only 1 store
You guys need to make an electric mini bike in an old school frame, buy one of those xiomi fold down scooters as a donor that have a 30 mile range and have at it! Would be awesome and a super simple/ interesting build!!!
Would like to see a museum or garage of all the projects you have made or restored on display 20 yrs from now everything will be electric or battery powered.
Seeing an adult living their best life like a child is gold. When he was ridin that bike
It's never too late to have a happy childhood
YES!!!
Never too late brother!

Are you the Keymaster?

being able to run rampant and just have free reign in a shop like that with all the fab stuff, would be the dream
Did you see Ike's wheelie at the end? Yeah that wasn't planned😂
Lol
Ily guys
23 sec ago posted video no body have seen it yeat
@@seb2208 you havent even watched it yet
Haha awes
3:10 actually the block used to be cork! The fuel gauge is pretty neat.

I’ve learned so much about small engines from this channel I love you guys been watching for YEARS
I literally just got off Google and there was a story about these and clicked on UA-cam and this is the first video I see
Same happened to me when i wanted to build a mini cross kart but just a few hours later they posted a video about making a mini cross kart
And when i wanted to build a power wheels with a big engine but grind hard plumbing posted their first power wheels video few hours later
.000000000000001% chance. Lucky.
@@Ilikeeminleggings I know lol.
You fellas should start having a swap meet, ride and meet sometime. Would be nice to get access to some old parts and old machines
Ya mean like the Pate Swap Meet, but on the East Coast? Or West Coast? I'm thinkin' Carlise (East) or Portland or Pomona (West) Swap Meets.
@@donellmuniz590 yes
I got started back yard cartingimg and building and riding drift trikes cause of these two fellas
I loved the fuel gauge swirling around and around as they did the slalom course.

I like these kinds of videos with old mini bikes and old go karts.
Every Tecumseh engine I tuned in the shop I worked: Low-speed: 3/4-turns out. High-speed: 1-1/4-turns out. And they ran perfectly...! ;)
It's nice to have friends like Gary who will help you out so nice to see go Gary go.
Had a mini bike in '72. Always was envious of guys that had a torque convertor on their bikes. So much better than just a centrifugal clutch.
holy crap the gas gauge spinning while john is riding is hilarious

Dude, 14:53 you and Ike scratched your head at the same time lol
in the same spot too
Lmao
Loving the consistent content been here for years
1:37 that’s why I have a 2 sided air chuck. Once you have a duelly you can outsmart a valve stem
A regular blow gun works best for those tight spots

Loved the flame coming out from the head exhaust port at 13:04
1/5 inc copper pipe might work i recommend 1.5 to 2.5 feet. pump like a harly d.

So Close to a million!!, also that minibike is a ripper

Some of my favorite parts of your videos are the after credits extra stuff. Im glad yall started doing that. Cheers
Glad you enjoy it!
In all future races, John should have to wear a backpack with weights in it to make up for the difference in body weight from John to Ike...
I got the notification for this video while watching som old cars and cameras vids
Same. I was on a lawnmower vid
I can't tell you what I was watching 👀

Sweet when you got the same mini at home in your collection
I'm digging the longer 30-minute videos. If you're a full-time UA-camr you can put out more than 12 minutes once a week.
You guys inspire me so much.... im from the caribbean st. Lucia to be exact... cant wait to work on a build with my son .. keep up the good work

Gary rocks!
To remove broken inlet. Just screw a deck screw in and it pops out. No damages will be to the carb.
When Ike flooded it and tried restarting, I'd swear he was hammered. 😂
Great video as always, definitely a sweet bike. This would be a cool bike with modern wheels, tires and somewhat of a restore.
I prefer em crusty, lol. Patina, they call it now. It's all the rage now, but I always dug it.
love it. gary, wearin his spurs at the warehouse.
Watching the guy whip that tiny chevy around I was like "wow" mad lad, then they said rental and I thought "ooooh" yeah do the slalom!
Perfect example of MAYGOPOP tires. They are good until they aren’t.
I lived in Keller Texas for 6 months. Beautiful part of Texas. In between fort worth and Dallas
Love the minidragin t shirt you guys are the big kids of the mini bike world 🌎😀
You guys have all of the FUN! LOLS.
LMAO! "dual exhaust" = two mufflers in a row. nice :p
Gary is a stoic legend
That was pretty cool
Issac has some "Happy Eyes" here!
And Ike wheelies away lol
Cool little bike especially for free 🔥👍✌️
That is legit the first mini bike I ever had.
I watched a video of some guys in East LA Calif that collect and ride them mini bikes. Sold two of them I bought at auction a few years ago
Great vid guys keep up the good work!!

Awesome video guys mini bike is so cool 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This is neat. I'm actually rebuilding an mtd ss400 with a 212 ghost. Going to do a steampunk theme with it!

-Bring back the "BLACK WIDOW" from 5 Years ago!
I get such a kick out of those handlebars!!
Love ur videos yall 🤙👍💯💯keep up that good work
that thing is sic...like a mini Harley
Joe! Showing up for the az guys!!!
Where is this swap meet? I’m in Houston and need a place to get some goood deals on a go kart frame.
I finally know why my lawnmower has this funny fuelcap😂😂
Dude those handle bars look great
Good vid. I don't know about Ike and leaking gas. One of these days somethings going to blow up. Just hope you're all ok. Thanks for showing
