Bro I’m 6’7” and slow/unathletic asf. I always struggled to find my perimeter game cuz I had a wet shot but I couldn’t really do anything off the dribble unless I was attacking a closeout. I could only get past a guy one on one if I jabbed him/pump faked him really well. I’d get hot and hit super contested pull-ups and stepbacks sometimes but it wasn’t sustainable. But your tip about just taking an angle and getting into the paint and playing from there is so true. I figured it out once I was in college that I already had handles good enough to bump a guy to the paint and then I already had the footwork and touch from playing inside to get easy buckets from basically anywhere in the paint. Definitely the main thing I wish I figured out earlier in my game. If anyone big and slow like me is reading this, this is exactly how you can put it all together.
Great lesson to learn young. Some players get too comfortable with being more athletic (faster and quicker) than everyone else, but that might not last, and you don't want to just starting learning how to play against better athletes when that happens.
Used to play a footwork game called chess to get offense to use footwork and body positioning.. (no ball) let offense pick spot, then let defense get set. Offense goes first , players get 1 step per turn. Offense has to make it to rim in favorable position by attacking footwork.
I found that when I’m able to calm myself down and slow the game in my mind it helps you with entering the flow state I became top scorer in a elimination game just by slowing the game and believing in myself and my abilities
So I understood very well how to score slowly at first, and new most the things you said but the details make it so much easier to understand which help take my skills and knowledge to the next level
It's amazing to see content like this here, but I haven't found anything center related, all things can be used as a center but I need that focused content
Man I am the king of moving slow down hill for a bucket. I’m also extremely fast but when want to preserve I let my handles and footwork do the work. But I feel you didn’t mention nothing about dribbling and creating open looks from the dribble.
Pick your spot, jump stop, mind your pivot square for best possible shot. Work the block post up once reaching intended area as close as you can to basket. Be two plays ahead and mind the 3 seconds in the paint. Low on your dribble keep ball safe and secure use what the defender guves you. Head fakes and elevation are your friends and powerful tools. 😤
On offense you want to use less energy because you have to defend. I remember i tried to teach this drill to an AAU squad the coach didnt like it because he wanted to run. I told him then go coach an actual HS or College. I use to think AAU was about teaching new skills and techniques not winning.
I disagree ... Going slow that way is made for Bully Ball ... Doncic is Biiiig and still...he always attacks the hip with his shoulder ... If pass him he is done ... If he moves backwards he is at your mercy ... But just my thoughts, love these guys doing Bball.Shorts for coaches
Ngl some kid at the park asked to 1v1, and he was so slow, he tried pulling this sht on me but was so predictable i damn near blocked every layup/shot he took. I told him what his problem was afterwards and helped him fix it. (Im not that much of an asshole 😂)
This is how to coach. Fundamentals and technique outweighs raw athleticism the further along your career you go. In NBA you can’t name 10 players who can’t dunk 😂😂
People will say this is the Luka package, but the truth is that this is how girls train 90% of the time to compensate for decreased athleticism. Lol. And if we get into the details this is really just learning a post-up game and the footwork required to get an angle to get your shot off.
I love how this younger generation has absolutely no clue what post play is lol score slow just means use your body to make space which was how we played basketball 15 years ago.
The "40 and up" package lol
Definitely
Or the european superstar (excluding giannis but hes not really european lol)
dad strength package
Yea or you could call it trying to teach them the way, the two best players in the NBA play.
Luka!

are you just slow because of your size or have you always been like that?
@@mmmmmmm81622 probably his size
Your shot ain’t wet bruh

Luka looks slow because he’s strong and efficient. His legs don’t swing a lot but he’s still moving just as fast as anyone
Yooo "score as slowly as possible". Such a creative drill. Love this shit!
Read your bible! (KJV, preferably) ♥
Luka: I got you bro

this is legit teaching you how to play luka doncic basketball 101
Or the Jokic way

Great point.
Contact is not an option, it's [generally] a necessity.

could you explain that in more depth i’d wanna try this out
I’d love to implement this drill. Can you explain it again?
Brakes are a very underrated aspect of the game hence why Luka is so good
Kyle Anderson has entered the chat
That last bucket was pretty tuff
Damn that’s different and a paradigm shift. I’m used to trying to dust everybody on the court😂
such a creative drill! need this
Great skill to have, the game is angles and spots!!
the fundamentals. such a great drill

Great job Coach!
4th way is your 6'8" with a name Luka doncic
6'8 with an ox like lower body where you can literally move C's. Yea, that helps too hahaha
No doubt. Everyone in open gyms across the country has tried to play slow like luka and they all look really bad 😂
next level teaching right here
It's amazing to see content like this here, but I haven't found anything center related, all things can be used as a center but I need that focused content
C training is tough to find since most trainers you'll encounter are guards
Amazing coach ❤
That hook was dirty 🤧🤧🤧
Very solid concepts
Luka & Kyle Anderson 😂
Luka Doncic impact on the game is crazy
Great for us aging dudes!
This is important, when you slow down the game slows down and you start to be more effective
Doncic and Jokic skiped speed lesson and it worked!
great teaching concept

Good coach
eat the space and get near as possible..protect the ball

“Play slow” = Immediately goes fast
This is nice cuz I play like this in 80 percent of my 1v1s
I should've picked the slow style of playing growing up. more efficient and less injury-prone
Some of the best nba stars LOVE to play slow
🔥🔥🔥🔥
It looks like they’re carrying the way their hand is at the side of the ball and how it kind of pauses in the air
It’s called big man fundamentals or have a sky hook like Magic or Kareem.
This at hammond indiana sportsplex?
He said go slower then proceeds to faster

Dirk, Luka, Joker, Tim Duncan, Chris Bosh
🔥
Basketball is a spiral
that's how luka doncic play man
I think this was a studied play style. I prefer to play like this at the park because I have low stamina
Oscar Robertson ahh offense
2000s MJ as well) in this context
where's the full vid i'm tryna see this
At 37 it’s the only way I can score these days😂
nice
Yall say Luka, but PG was the king playing before Luka arrived. Yes he can play explosive but PG plays at a slow and smooth pace
Americans being taught euro skills 😂
Shai !
I would just do a. Footwork into step back or step theiugh
Slow step drill
I am 7’ 6’’ and I have no problem scoring slowly..
Westbrook, pay close attention
He needed to learn this 15 years ago, too late now. He had all world athleticism, so he still made it work even if his older days are less productive.
Watch Steve Nash. Look at how he uses his off arm.
Nah das light work
Finally, someone showing guys how to actually play basketball, without using the same moves to "get down hill". The game is terrible because of it.
I disagree

Everyone Luka now. SMH, where are these random trainers coming from???
Stop the cap. These kids need to learn ALL of the fundamentals, not just YMCA offense
