the only thing i hate about a loud exhaust (normal level of "loud", not harley shaking the windows across the town when its idling") is commuting to work after a pm or night shift and feeling like im pissing off my whole street as i roll down the street at 2am with the clutch in and its still obnoxious
The amount of pollution that is reduced is ''insignificant and negligible''. Yet we suffer and are expected to be perfect. It's possible but implausible.
This regulations are for the poor that on average popute a lot less than the rich. Also, more than 80% off air pollution comes from industry, airplanes and ships yet we have to buy eletric Cars to save the world. Pathetic
You’re 100% correct, the same thing happened in the 70s when all the muscle cars that had three or 400 hp all of a sudden 5/6 years later they have half of that. The technology didn’t go away they just had to detune the engines
The 4th largest greenhouse gas emitting category is transportation. Within transportation 72% of emissions come from road transport. Within road transport
All true, but emissions standards are applying to all vehicles. Just look at the arguments in Australia over emissions standards for SUV's and Ute's that are coming.
Today's 650's have better acceleration than the first super bike, Kawasaki K1 900 from 1972. I've ridden motorcycles since 1973 and like the economy and practicality of the new ones.
Indeed, they are much more refined, efficient and practical today. However looking at bikes released 10-15 years ago vs today you can see the trend being laid out
What are you talking about? Restricted euro5 bikes make a lot more power than the same bikes 20 years ago, even without removing the restrictive parts.
Only the stupid A2 license has destroyed mid cc bikes. For some reason ALL models adhere to those, when i doubt if more than 20% of the buyers are actual A2 holders.
I'm considering buying 2 to 3 identical 1000cc motorcycles, to have a stock when these pollutant emission laws put an end to all the fun and it's no longer possible to buy a vehicle to your liking and choose
when a loud bike rides past you, how long are you annoyed for? My guess is for 5 seconds, and then your brain goes back to thinking about taking the next bite of your sandwich.
@BlakeLarsen3 no actually your wrong. There are many studies showing that load vehicles have many health implications on residents including disrupted sleep, stress response which you don't notice and affects to cardiovascular health. Your just wrong

Yea that level of loud is a bit excessive

Agreed
Tighter bike regulations is nothing more than feel good legislation with no meaningful effect.

True, and while modern cars (and bikes) are probably better in nearly all aspects, we still seem to look back at those classic ones with love.
Great explanation, it’s sad to see less crazy as you say. A lot of the new bikes today don’t excite me much

@petert3355 yes and it's dumb. The govt is barking up the wrong tree.

Personally I just remove the headers completely on my bike but that's just me
Nanny State with the help of Insurance companies is killing motorcycles in Canada.
Golly. I wonder if emissions regulations are affecting the manufacturers' decisions?
I like the sound of loud, dumb and fun
Awesome explanation thanks Kwacka!
Glad you enjoyed it!
What are you talking about? Restricted euro5 bikes make a lot more power than the same bikes 20 years ago, even without removing the restrictive parts.
Yes, we riders do need 200hp on a bike. They should sell the new ones with a box of tampons and a purse.
And it better spit flames otherwise we don't want it!
Well said.
Because the stupidity of emission
Yes…. yes, I do need 200hp in my bike. Thank you for asking.
its also that 200horse power bikes sell bad, arent useful and very expensive so in the future supersports will get obsolete if they arent already
Already seems to be going that way
Evey thing u sed is the reason ppl aren't riding alot any more
just ride i sport bike man if you can't handle a super sport don't complain

you can always buy second hand ones, theres a lot of old gen supersports in my area on sale ranging from 3 to 8 thousand francs
Euro standard look what they become!! They lost their car industry crazy stupid
Good changes. Thank God for the EU. Sick of loud shit annoying people
