- Fishing the Ned Rig in Saltwater works :) A largemouth bass fishing technique, utilized to saltwater environment. Had the opportunity to shoreline fish, in beautiful San Diego, Mission Bay. There are many ways of catching saltwater fish, but here's my technique that works for me! I would like to thank my friend Max Magana for hooking it up with the plastic; a 3inch ghost shrimp (combatjigs), and my new friend Jason (Fish Mastery) for fishing with me :)
Hope you enjoy ! please comment, subscribe, and like!

Been a long time since posting! Being a new dad and adjusting to new daddy duties, I found a small window of fishing time over this past weekend to fish!. Hope you enjoy!

nice work.. I hear you on the new dad deal.. strap the little one to your chest and go out casting.. mama will appreciate it.. all of my 981802389075 kids were on my chest a LOT while I was casting.. lol.. the little ones love that too..
DumbestFisherman TV thank you !! I’m so lucky and blessed. I just got the chest strap , I will get her out there soon :D
Congrats again on your baby. Been a new dad is tough but exciting I have 3 lil ones. Tight lines and thanks for the tips n info.
congrats on your 3 kids, my wife and I want more :) tight lines my friend
Congrats on your new born.. in San Diego too can send the exact address please I’m going tomorrow lol
Whenever I open UA-cam and see that you posted another video it makes my day!!!
thanks man! , did you get my package yet?!
That ray was awesome!
Fishing With Bottles it sure was !
Funny, I call the 1oz drop shot with the chartreuse mullet gulp the "UA-cam special". Saw 4 different people the other day fishing the same exact thing. The ned head with half a fat senko works good over eel grass. Funny how most freshwater bass techniques can be used exactly the same in saltwater. Bass is a bass regardless of where they live.
Glad that man let you film and dropped some tips. Never knew about the stringing the line trick. Had some rays just stick to the bottom and I end up breaking the light line on them.
Anotherflores91 :) yea I’m starting to see a lot of people use that rig now haha . It’s good to see . I’m glad it helps . You’re so right with bass techniques . Works well in salt . Thanks for the comment and tight lines !
I fish in LBC & you’ve made me realize u can catch hella fish during nasty low tide 🥶
Cool video bout Ghost Shrimp! Wow! I found itty bitty teeny shrimp in my back yard after a serious down pour of rain. Read they are called “Fairy Shrimp” around 50 types in SoCal. I was shocked never heard of them.
Another great video!
Thanks brother!
I have fished here before and so far I’ve been very unlucky :( but I’ll definitely use something like this and hopefully I’ll catch something thanks for the tips!!!
Good luck! let me know how you do. I have good luck with texas rigged grub baits there.
I love pulling the shrimps near ski beach, crown point and fiesta; then using them for bait. Will try the white plastics next time I go out though. Congrats on the little one !
Joe White thank you Joe ! I want to do a ghost shrimp pumping video someday :D
Keep up the great work
Thanks Ryan!

Cody James thanks Cody ! It was , not in wanting to pull on a ray like that haha
We’d actually get live ghost shrimp in mission beach, then go to shelter island back in the day. I wonder if I can make another plunger like my uncle had back in the day
I bet that would work! good luck out there

I've been following you for a while and just found out you used to work and the physical therapy I go to. The guy who looked at me talked really highly of you. If you ever have time i need some tips. I'm struggling with catching large mouth and halibut. I've been watching your videos and still haven't caught my first halibut
Derek Smith thanks ! Patrick told me the other day about ya. Be glad to help you , where abouts are you fishing for large and for halibut ?
Point Loma next to the track, the mission jetti, and harbor island for halibut. Miramar pond, lake Jennings, and diamond valley lake for largemouth.
hey, im going fishing for rainbow trout tomorrow. the trout are under 12 inches. i want to use mini jigs. do i use a power-worm on a 1/32 oz jig head or what. and it is in a river. and there are steel head. the water is high. please help me. what color do i start with?
thanks for the help!
oh man , sorry for the late reply. To answer your question; I would use 1 /32 oz mini jig head paired with crappie plastics, like I did with my other trout videos. Also I would try using kast masters 1/16 oz to 1/4 oz gold kastmasters. the steel head like anything flashy
great video Rodney! have you ever tried steelhead fishing? my challenge: go steelhead fishing and only use mini jigs. that would be a great video. keep up the great work as always.
Z Redfearn I would absolutely love to catch a steel head on a mini jig ! Adding to the bucket list . I wish there were steelhead here in San Diego tho . Thanks for watching !!
@@RodneyMarquezFishingChannel yes for sure!!! thanks man!!!

hey rodney where can i get those ghost shrimp ned rig lures......is combat baits online or is it a fishing store i can go to ?
Richard Saldivar hello ! Yeah they have an online store combatjigs.com or you can visit their Instagram page and direct message him . Veteran owned company 🤙
hey jus placed my order last night. i liked the action of those ghost shrimp lures. have u caught any halibut on them yet ?
hey rodney thanks for the 411 i got me some of those ghost shrimp lures ordered.
Looked like you were fishing from Fiesta Island. Nice video!
Thanks Scott! i was :)
The California Butterfly Rays are attacking like crazy right now. Caught a 32 pounder today. Same thing by hooking it on the side. The reason that happens.... I actually got to see how they attack a few days ago. I was fishing and saw two swimming towards me. So I put my plastic in front of one and it immediately flew on top of the plastic. They put their fins down like legs and have their body about 10 inches off the ground making a semi circle. Then they twist their tails around to start stinging whatever is trapped between their two fins. It was cool to see the other day up close. I had always wondered why I foul hook them all the time on their fin and now I know.... Today's fight took 30 minutes and left my back in pain. PS The certified IGFA world record for that species is only 23 pounds. I have broken that record at least a dozen times, but have never wanted to register it. I have a photo of today's catch on the scale if you are interested.
World record !? That’s awesome you should get it recorded :) you always post great comments , someday , we have to link up . You do any fishing in San Diego ??
@@RodneyMarquezFishingChannel I have not been up to San Diego in the past year or two. I used to fish Barrett Lake, Lake Morena and Lake Otay a lot on day trips. I am on SDFish forums and will PM you there. I live 70 miles south of San Diego in Ensenada and only recently got into Bay Fishing down here do the lack of fresh water around here. Currently I am stuck here because of a project that I am heading up which does not allow me to be without a signal for even a minute. So driving up there would cause me to pass through a few dead zones. I will explain in the PM. Keep an eye out for it on SDFish.
What is ur rod setup?
What is the weight of the ned rig head? 3/8?
Where in mission bay is this?
Dylan P fiesta island :)
What's the green rod? It matches my tec lite, so I'm thinking it's also a field&stream
Sube Tube ooo I’m not too sure , but I bet it is
Is there a local store with these lures
not that I know of, but i think the owner is trying to branch out to local stores
Was that really 14 inches? I know some guys are prone to exaggeration
jeremyross631 tbh im one of the prone people haha but this spotty was 14 if not close to it
Seems everbody doin the Ned Rig now. Im gona try it now. Wth@#^$!&🤣Maybe try on wife too..👌👊😂
hahahah 😂
What species rey was that? My buddy caught one on Sunday that looked EXACTLY LIKE THAT! I thought it was a bat rey missing it's tail.
Getting Bent With Bo Butterfuly Ray, they’re super cool and not very easy to get stung by.
@@Marlonscrazy Thanks for sharing! I had never seen one before I thought it lost its tail lol.
Hey man awesome Vid where can i get those lures ??
Thank you so much , you can get them combaitjigs.com
Thanks man and congrats on the baby i have another on the way trying to teach my 3yrd son he loves fishing just trying to get him out their as much as i can
Thats so awesome! congrats on the next baby :) I cant wait until Alana gets older and be able to reel in a fish
Stingray is tasty.
Tel him it's illegal to snag fish according to DFW. Got him on camera. 😂🤣😁
totally true, But I highly doubt he was trying to snag the ray , he was casting super far when he got "hooked" up
What kind of shrimp was that
Malachi Grant it was a 3inch craw from combatiigs . I put the link of the lure in the description . Thanks for stopping by
Have you ever tried to catch the jumping fish there
TheGigzzz3 omg those fish are so hard to catch . Always wanted to .. but I don’t even know how . Any recommendations ???
