Top 4 Cheap Protein Sources

  • On my videos about diet and hitting your protein target, the most common comment is:
    “RIP Wallet”
So here are my top 4 favourite high protein items on a budget.
Number 4: Tinned tuna. It doesn’t taste great, but if you mix it with a metric f*ckton of mayonnaise, or make fish cakes out of them.
Number 3: Low fat diary. I particularly like greek yogurt and cottage cheese. Full of protein and low in calories.
Number 2: Eggs. Poach ‘em, fry ‘em, boiled ‘em. Relatively cheap and very versatile.
And Number 1: Every gym bro’s go-to food, protein powder.

@@Smurfis where I live 4 cans of cheap tuna is over $4 and the cheap Mayo light is $4. If you have two cans of tuna and 2 tablespoons of Mayo for every meal its between $6-$7 a day and like 800 calories. I believe on average a person should be eating around 2300 calories a day so that immediately makes it around $18 a day per person. Just commenting because people like you shouldn’t be commenting dumb incorrect things.

Tuna is a real protein hack. Youll be VERY hard pressed to find a protein powder with a better calories to protein ratio. They are around 1 gram of fat, 130 calories, and 30 g of protein per can and even with Bidenflation you can still get them 1.50$ a can. Doesn't taste good but doesn't really taste bad either. Just bland and dry. Just scarf it down. You shouldn't cover it in mayo or fry it of course but hot sauce goes a long way imo. The real issue is the mercury. Big fish like tuna have a ton. Its really not something you should be eating every day. I mix it up with sardines and tinned salmon. Both taste better imo (I LIKE sardines. Chicken of the Sea makes one in hot sauce and I actually think it's pretty fire) and both are only slightly higher in fat and calories and more like 20 g of protein instead of 30g. There is also canned mackerel which is quite a bit higher in fat but also higher in omegas and good fats. I eat a decent amount of those 4 things. Sardines you also probably shouldn't eat every day either though because of the arsenic... I think? Everything is trying to kill you. Lol. Doesn't Joe Rogan talk about how he was actually hospitalized because he was eating like 3 cans a night for awhile?
Also skim milk in your protein powder tastes WAY better than water and seems to mix better than water as well and it adds like 10g of protein and a lot of vitamin D and calcium (which people on strict diets struggle with getting enough of because dairy can be fatty) with no fat and only like 80 calories a cup.
Finally, ground turkey. Plus them make them pre seasoned in Italian and taco varieties. The Italian one for meatballs and the taco one in low carb tortillas with rice and beans is quite good. I eat a lot of both. I know a lot of people dont like lean ground turkey but Id try the Italian and taco ones. I like them.
Another thing that hasn't suffered too bad from Bidenomics (Look its just a fact. Grocery prices have tripled in the last 4 years. Not trying to get political) is the pre cooked rotisserie chickens at the supermarket. Good ny themselves. Toss them in a salad or a wrap or a sandwich or chicken soup. Honestly not much more than a dollar or two more than cooking a chicken yourself and so much easier and you dont have a rotisserie anyway. Remove the skin and you remove like 2/3s of the fat ane calories.
