Perfectly explained! Finally! From a mid-50s guy who can still dunk, but I've lost my rhythm/speed/ability on approach. I feel like i can't move on approach - strange feeling to be "stuck" like that now. I'm going to try this!

wow this explanation really helped me correct my penultimate as i understand what it actually does instead of just learning how to do it, the part where you said you extend your leg further so it lowers your hip and is able to like make you come up with your next step made me increase my 2 foot jump by like 2-3 inches already thanks man

I really loved this explanation! There’s lots of great technical breakdowns of how to perform the penultimate step, but not why we use the penultimate step for jumping. Thanks!

I know how to do it I’m just scared of doing it I feel like I’m gonna hurt myself 😂 and it sucks cause I can touch the rim on standing vertical only I could probably dunk already if I do my penultimate step right

Can you keep your toes straight when doing the penultimate step? You have it straight in ur first one and in ur other demo it was outwards

JClark, should I stomp hard into the ground on take off or plant faster than heavier like balls of feet vs heel to ground

I think I got it down, I’m 6’4 230 I’m not elastic at all, I’m more of a power jumper, so I really have to get low and drive that force into the ground for that bounce

I am in the same situation. I have been working on it. Search the UA-cam channel called The Jump Guy. The jump guy has a great penultimate step workout you can do when you want to just practice jumping.
