When I heard it on the title screen, I thought this song was catchy. When I realized the Earth God's Lyric was the first part, I was impressed. When I realized the Wind God's Aria was the second part, I was blown away. By the time they reunited, along with the ocean theme, Zelda's Lullaby, and Aryll's theme to form the credits, I had tears in my eyes. This game... this game was a *journey,* man.
also, aryll's theme perfectly matches with zelda's lullaby, paralleling how aryll is mistaken for zelda. and the great sea theme similarly lines up with and compliments the classic zelda overworld theme
This game was my introduction to the Zelda Franchise. Yea i may like Skyward Sword and Botw/TotK, but Wind Waker will always get to my heart. Specially this Staff Credits
Well, there was a lot to hate about it from the ocean segments being entirely too empty and long, the infamously bad triforce quest, and the annoying stealth bit in the first dungeon. It's more a shame that people at the time really only hated it for cursory things like the visual style, rather than issues at the core of the game. Made Nintendo piss scared to try anything new for a while. Wind Waker is my favorite 3D Zelda by the way. Don't want it to seem like I'm bashing it.
RayLedgend you were supposed to be exploring throughout the game rather than trying to finish the game as fast as possible for whatever stupid reason. when i got to the so called "horrific triforce hunt" i only had like 3 to go. if you had been playing the game the way that they intended you to play it, you wouldnt have a problem with the ocean "segments" or the triforce hunt.
00thisisnotreal00 What's with your tone? You don't have to come off as so defensive over a video game. Jeez. So, are we even talking about the same version here? I'm talking about the Gamecube original, where I don't care how much exploring you did, practically no one would have made significant progress on the triforce quest before it was mandatory. I'll have you know I was always exploring, despite your rude assumptions otherwise, and going to new places when I played. The thing of it is, exploring is one thing, then there's grinding for Rupees to get the triforce maps from Tingle over and over. If grinding for obscene amounts of cash is 'the way they intended' me to play throughout the entire game, then it's still shit game design. Also, I'm sorry, but the ocean really was poorly designed. Big, sprawling . . . and practically empty. Nothing to do, practically nothing to see, and it takes several minutes to get to where you're going. It's boring and lifeless.
RayLedgend first of all, how can you tell my tone when youre just reading my comment. and yes, we are talking about the gamecube version. i havent even played the wii u version yet. I DID complete much of the triforce quest before it was mandatory. the reason i assumed that you hadn't been exploring was because you referred to the great sea as "ocean segments" implying that you just use the sea to get from A to B. the ocean wasnt poorly designed at all. there are 49 MAIN islands, and it takes all of 3 seconds to get to any given one considering you can WARP after you get the bow in the 3rd dungeon., and lifeless? no. not at all. the atmosphere was amazing on the ocean
00thisisnotreal00 I know you can warp, bud. I beat that game like 3 times. But come on, there's practically nothing in that ocean. That's what I meant by lifeless. The entire game oozes atmosphere, the ocean included, but on a gameplay level it's completely devoid of activity. Even those islands you bring up are still barren. There's like a treasure to find or something. Almost none of them are a meaningful distraction. The warp points are helpful, but you could still potentially have minutes of travel to get where you need to go. I say all of this as a huge fan of Wind Waker. Like I said, it's my favorite 3D Zelda, but even though I love it, I'm not blind to its flaws. I love it despite its issues, not because I refuse to see them.
If I could wipe my memory of a few select events, besides the fucked up things I've seen/heard, I would also forget this game's story, so I could experience the twists and turns of the plot all over again.
@@acousticfoam4184 man, 20 years ago, I plugged my GameCube for the first time and played this game, no idea what to expect, only did a link to the past on gba... I want to relive that.
The Gamecube and Wind Waker was the last thing my father bought me and my brothers. I was 8 at the time. Its been 20 years since he passed. I remember hearing this for the first time and crying till couldn't cry anymore tears. It was such a jubilant game in such a dark time in my life. My father played Zelda since it first released in '86. My first memory was being sat up by a pillow watching him teach my older brother how to beat the first 2 Zelda games. The farewell of King Daphnes reminded me of my father. I miss him so much... Me and my brothers still play Zelda games to this day, its what reminds us of him the most...
Reminds me of when my father helped my twin brother and I during some parts of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. He disliked video games, but wouldn't mind the puzzle solving. Lost him 5 years ago and there will always be something missing with him no longer physically with us. I'm just glad we got to spend time together.
I'm 18 years old, have played the game about a dozen times, and I STILL can't go through the whole thing without choking up. The writing and the music really stir up emotion.
First time beating it, I didn't cry because I couldn't understand losing someone close to you like that, I was 8. Second time around, I was 11 and I cried. I still cry whenever I see that scene.
@@Lashteen I totally agree and you now what makes this ending more emotion then all the others in a certain event way that is it’s not only that you lost people on the way like the king and that ganondorf could not just let go of his ambitions NO! it’s that THIS GAME IS THE FINAL PROPER EPILOGUE ENDING TO OCARINA OF TIME EVENT aka ADULT TIMELINE and you just made a new era and future by leaving Ocarina of time behind if that doesn’t make you cry 😢 I don’t know WTF does.
2:05 this is the exact moment in which Nintendo tells you "you were always sailing away, this whole story was not about retrieving a bright past, but providing a new future for you and the ones who survived". One of the best moment in videogame history.
I know it’s 5 years later, but the way you worded it was beautiful. They sank hyrule beneath the ocean for forever, forgetting the past and heading straight I to the future with the rest of the world behind you. You got everything you had before, except now you’re more experienced. You’ve faced the doubt and treachery of the world, and still pushed through. Nothing can stop you now that you e faced everything.
This song isn't just a great ending song, it symbolizes the end of an era. Hyrule, the golden kingdom was forever sealed away, never to have footprints grace it's grounds again. This song was a farewell to Hyrule and the legacy it carried.
true but it is also representative of the story in how no matter how much despair there is, as long as you carry hope to the future and don't let yourself be tied by the past there is always hope for a brighter tomorrow to come so long as we have the courage to look for it.
This is just a genius interpretation and the best I've seen so far, considering Link and Tetra have a brand new hope of reconstructing a new Hyrule after saying farewell to the lands of old...Zelda games are just gems of storytelling and world building I swear
This used to be my favorite game of all time until I finished Breath of the Wild, but godamn the staff credits of any Zelda game can't top this one. :( It just makes you wanna cry for some reason.
Man, it took from when I was 6 until I was 12 to beat the game and I gave up at trying to get to Ganondorf because I didn't know what guides were. Six years later I found a guide and beat the game. During the credits seeing all the bubbles with parts of the game in them made me cry. That is when I realized how easy it was to be 6 and carefree.
This song represented the end of the best journey of my childhood... I used to cry when I listened to it, yet now with Iwata's death... It becomes even harder not to cry. RIP Iwata - Thank you for making the greatest part of my childhood.
My oldest cat passed away a few nights ago... I wore a Wind Waker shirt the day after. Not just because I love this game, but because whenever I played this song on the piano (albeit horribly) my cat would recognize it and perk up, or sometimes even come over and interrupt it and stand on the piano.
I loved the whole end credits so much, the bubbles that kept floating to the surface at first were like the the memories of what happened in wind Waker but as it goes on more and more appear in the background all floating up from hyrule as if they were the memories from past games. Seeing hyrule, ganon and the master sword get washed away knowing they were gone forever was such a bittersweet ending...
Zelda games are always so magical.. They're the only games that make me wish I could forget something just to do it all again. BotW, the Wind Waker,-- If I could relive this in another life, I would every single time.
This single credits sequence has turned a title theme from a catchy song uniquely tied to the Earth God’s Lyric and Wind God’s Aria to something that makes me hold back emotions nearly every time I boot up the game. Best game ever

Now, I see it from the adult perspective, reminding me not to be chained to the past, deluded by it. I love this game. I love all it stands for. Beyond a shadow of a doubt, my favorite piece of media ever
Idk wtf you're talking about. Every main theme from 3d games are present. The sky diving in TotK and the Riding in BotW/& TotK are amazing. Every town has it's own theme. The main theme of TotK beats Windwaker hands down. Don't get your head out of your ass, you're just wrong.
The music in this game is a masterpiece. That is one of the many reasons this game will forever be my favorite Zelda game. I will always look to this game to make me happy when I'm down.
I literally just relived a massive journey of nostalgia and got teary-eyed…I got into Zelda with OOT, but WW was the first Zelda title I had actually beaten from start to finish. Such an incredible coming-of-age story for both Link and myself-this game was so charming and full of heart, and has had a special place in my memories for a long time. The end credits track gets me every time, especially that image with the last two bubbles featuring Link and Tetra as the last of the King’s memories floating to the surface.
This music really touched my heart it was one of the first zelda games I ever played and it's so beautiful and fun! I beat this game like 6 times and I still love it to peaces. the second game I started to play was ocarina of time on the 3ds let me be honest MY SECOND FAV ZELDA GAME! But wind waker is my favorite too! I love it soo much thank you nintendo for making this great game😊
Just beat the game for a second time yesterday. First Zelda game I ever beat years ago, and probably my favourite along with BOTW. The soundtrack has got to be my favourite from a Zelda game
I love this song. Such fantastic melody to go along to the completion of a great adventure game of a life time. Wind Waker HD will definitely be a game of nostalgia to me for no other reason than it just being an amazing game to play. This falls in line next to Ocarina of Time & A Link to the Past. Thank you Nintendo for all the cherished memories =D
I find myself coming back to listen to this song atleast once a week. It’s silly how the credit theme of a goofy, lovable, cartoonish game can have such a powerful meaning. This song for years and years now has continuously inspired me to never give up and keep going and has helped me hold on to hope for so long now. I cant help but tear up a little every time I hear this absolute fucking banger of a song. Even in my darkest times when I feel like I’m at my lowest, hearing this masterpiece of a song helps remind me every time that no matter what happens, the wind will guide me.
Most people I've talked 20 years ago that hated the game now just love it and have amazing memories. If it wasn't for that realistic trailer that hyoed everybody that came out some time before the game, everybody whould have loved it since day one
After I listened to the ending music, the ending was about to make me tearing up. I wish I could replay the ending music on the TV through the game. The Wind Waker still my 100% favorite Zelda game ever. Thank you Nintendo because you made such an... I don't know how to say it, but The Wind Waker still an awesome Zelda game every for me.
If there’s one thing I could re-experience in my life, it would hands down be this game. While I wish it was longer, I don’t mind considering how fantastic it already is. It values quality over quantity, making it one of if not the most replay-able games in the Zelda series.
This game is truly a masterpiece, definitely one of, if not, my favorite games of all time. I’ve beaten over 5 times now and would do it again and not be bored. The Triforce quest at the end of the game is well known for being boring but I love it because you get to explore the huge ocean and discover things you’ve never seen. The dungeons are fun and interesting and so are the characters. Also the music from this game is my favorite soundtrack from any video game ever.
I finished wind waker close to my high school graduation this year. I got the opportunity to travel to another country to finish high school. Started playing during the quarantine and finished with in-person school, which shaped much of who I am now. I really wanted to stay in that country for college but it didn’t seem very possible. When she says “As for our destination, the wind will guide us” when they about to look for the new Hyrule... that just broke me
I saw it in an older comment..but play this song in a seperate browser, and then play the other video like 20 seconds behind, and its so fucking gorgeous. Idk the exact timing, but its essentially a canon and its so good
When I heard it on the title screen, I thought this song was catchy. When I realized the Earth God's Lyric was the first part, I was impressed. A masterpiece indeed.
Best part 0:00 - 5:28
Just beat the game for a second time yesterday. First Zelda game I ever beat years ago, and probably my favourite along with BOTW. The soundtrack has got to be my favourite from a Zelda game
Theres just something about Zelda music that makes you feel a certain way
I’ve been watching this every night before bed for the past 8 months lol
I love this song. Such fantastic melody to go along to the completion of a great adventure game of a life time. Wind Waker HD will definitely be a game of nostalgia to me for no other reason than it just being an amazing game to play. This falls in line next to Ocarina of Time & A Link to the Past. Thank you Nintendo for all the cherished memories =D
This isn't my favorite Zelda game, but this title is by far the peak of Zelda music.
So fierce and yet so calm.... Like a breeze.
this game was my childhood, oh boy, the nostalgia
Impossible to not tear up
I can't listen to this without tearing up and I don't know why.
I want my ashes spread to the sea, with this song being played.
So beautiful and sad... :')
Not a song.
This music is a warm embrace and comforting smile to the weary hero come home.
The ending is perfect
The song that can make you feel happy no matter how you feel prior to hearing it - happy or sad !
Most people I've talked 20 years ago that hated the game now just love it and have amazing memories. If it wasn't for that realistic trailer that hyoed everybody that came out some time before the game, everybody whould have loved it since day one
A legendary song for a legendary game :)
just beat it again in 2024! ill never let myself forget this experience
Esta canción es preciosa
i want this to be played at my funeral.
Everyone who doesnt tear up while listening to this has 0 to no heart
Found a music book in a piano shop and it was a Zelda songs piano book and this song was in it. Now I'm hear listening to the song in all its glory ❤️
You made me so happy to find this here ^w^
Hands down the best Zelda game, no competition.
I usually don’t like credits but this is one of the few great video game credits. Video is standard but the music is just insane
This my first Zelda game played. I was 9 when I played this on the Wii U the Memories of it. I still have my Wii U to this day 😂😂😂
AIIIIYAHHHH
I just want to dance when I hear this song. Thanks Vega.
Amazing, superb, lovely, a masterpiece, that are words that describe The Wind Waker as game and score ❤️ so nostalgic 😢
The song hits me hard at 1:42
a beautiful game. thank you
I just started this game yesterday and omg is it so good! I love it so much.
.
One of the best games
❗️A BEAUTIFUL End Credits piece of music from such a CONTROVERSIAL game back in 2003...
I finished the game rn and It was awesome. Ty Nintendo :)
Sounds splendidly Irish. My 14 year old self knew what was up. Cried like a baby then and now.
WE MAKIN IT OUT OF OUTSET ISLAND WITH THIS ONE 🔥🔥🔥 😤😤
I finished wind waker close to my high school graduation this year. I got the opportunity to travel to another country to finish high school. Started playing during the quarantine and finished with in-person school, which shaped much of who I am now. I really wanted to stay in that country for college but it didn’t seem very possible. When she says “As for our destination, the wind will guide us” when they about to look for the new Hyrule... that just broke me
This song gives me goosebumps
Yesterday I finished this game :'(
After the millionth time listening to this I realized that the picture is slowly zooming in
cette musique est ma préféré de toute les musique de tous Zelda confondue
❗️When I first heard this 2003, I fell in love with it straight away and here I am again in 2023 doing the same thing :'-)
