It's not the state of California that would have prosecuted him. It's the federal government as Yosemite is run by the National Park Service. If you've ever been there, you'll know that the place can be very overrun with people, so there are rules to try to cap the number of people in the park. It's not the riding on a walking path that got him in trouble. It's how he got there. The NPS is actually right in its case. That said, there is a better way it could have been handled. He could have volunteered (or the NPS could have asked him) to use his platform to discuss proper access and how to be a good user of National Parks.
The Park Service has gone after several UA-camrs pretty harshly lately for videos that show illegal activity that was an honest mistake. I think the parks would be better served by having those people publish videos about what they did wrong and to avoid what they did instead of giving them a criminal record that can ruin their life.
What makes it even more absurd is that you can shoplift in California with impunity as long as it’s less than $980 in value. It’s absolutely absurd! Meanwhile teens are robbing stores and posting it all on social media and the police don’t even bat an eye. 🤦🏻♂️
This is so ridiculous, the US injustice system in action. I am constantly disgusted by our system here. This should have been a warning, and the video should be shown as an example of the correct thing to do if you make the same mistake.
Ouch. I understand giving him a fine - he did technically break that rule (and filmed it), but he also got off when he realized that (also filmed the fix!). Taking park rights from him seems harsh. Better ways to spend resources to keep the park safe.
For non-American viewers, anything you say or this case show, can and WILL be used against you in a court of law. It doesn't matter what the context was originally. This is stupid American law and one reason why I don't live there anymore.
If you post a video of yourself breaking the rules, you’re basically incriminating yourself. If you’re just an ordinary person, it might not be a big deal since not many people will see it. But if you’re an influencer, it’s definitely going to get some people's attention.
@koreystephens There are also people who eat meat and drive trucks in California. Go anywhere other than San Diego, Los Angeles, or San Francisco. California is mostly rural with tons of farms and agriculture. Trucks are VERY popular in my city, and people even go to rodeos around California. Many people have a very ignorant view of what California is like, and they think the whole state is just the big coastal cities. This is very wrong.
Thank you California for your insanity! I watch the Vegan Cyclist and feel very bad for him. Had he been an illegal alien; VC cyclist would never have been prosecuted!☹️
*Imagine being threatened with imprisonment for riding your gravel bike,.......on gravel.* 🤨
While literally in the middle of nowhere. 🙄
Yosemite is ran by the federal government, not California… if you’ve never been to Yosemite you wouldn’t understand why they went hard on him… 🤷🏽♂️

If he’d been promoting the carnivore diet while driving a Ford F-250, Jeep or side by side instead of riding a bicycle
He is in California.

Sad but true.
@@raulmarquez5485 He was prosecuted by the feds, not California.
Thats the insanity of living in California. The state where Illegals do as they please and yet citizens are punished for the most absurd things.
@@thedronescene7474 Except that this was a national park and he was prosecuted by the feds. Nothing to do with California.
@ National Park that resides inside California and Feds that abide by California law. Stop defending that failed state ;)
Ahh so this is why commiefornia has so many wildfires 😂
