    That is one amazing tie, just looking at images of this finished fly brought nothing but confusion, your expert step-by-step procedure helped so much, thank you,

    Another outstanding masterpiece from Barry. Sometimes I barely think of reproducing Barry's flies, but this time I'll try. Thanks for all your patterns, Barry, I'm watching your videos for a few years already, and never got bored!

      Thanks SB, but they are not that difficult, you can tie them! Just take your time and get each step correct. With a little practice and patience you'll get there...

      Thanks James, you can use different abdomen and rib colours that give great results.

    I don't have any of them hooks for this but I've just got a bunch of klinkhammer 14s so I'll give it a go with them. Hooks are getting a wee bit scarce at the moment. Lovely pattern Barry!!
    Stay safe.

      Hi Chris, thanks. You can tie this on a regular straight dry fly hook, no problem!

    Barry I have never tied or used one. Not because I don't like the pattern or anything, mostly because I have just got so many flies in my boxes and I end up with too much of a selection. However I will tie some and carry a few with me though I've no idea if I will get out fishing this year. Thanks for the work you do here!

      Hi Kerry, Too many flies!!! I know what you mean, when I fish for trout I have about six patterns with me. Yeah fresh water fishing looks doomed this year, but it might be good that those trout get a rest.

      @@Thefeatherbender I agree, same with Pacific Salmon in the rivers. I have never agreed with fishing for them in the freshwater, they stop eating and they are on their way to die. When they expend energy in a fight it increases their mortality rate, so if they get a rest this year it will be a good thing.

    Like how you just snap the end off of your tying thread. Lol.

    • @Thefeatherbender
      @Thefeatherbender  4 роки тому +1

      It's very easy Paul, you just have to keep the thread from your bobbin tight and jerk the end of the thread in your left hand hard at the same time.

    The biggest problem with commercial flies tied with trailing shucks is their tied in way to thick. The shucks are translucent in the water, so less is more when tying in your trailing shucks.

    that was a nice one Barry.. I have managed to drop a nice and heavy weight on my right hand yesterday so I am out of action for awhile.. didn't break anything (thank GOD) But ... well you know.. murphy's law.. I just realized that you could use anything to imitate nature in making a fly.. I know I am slow.. but like british rail.. I always get there.. I have some ideas once my hand heals up I am gonna try.. if they turn out ok I will send you one with a short vid on how I made it.. (dang this took me 15 minutes to write.. all I can do is laugh!) stay safe my brother!

      Hi Tink, ouch! I did try and send you a reply regarding the book but it just wouldn't post for some reason! Anyway to send the book from Norway will cost about $54 for the book and postage, let me know. Stay safe.

    Superb use of the vice rotary action. How do you center it?
    Baz

    • @Thefeatherbender
      @Thefeatherbender  4 роки тому

      Hi Barry, thanks, I have done it so many times that I just use my eye. But most true rotary vices come with a entering rod.

    • @barryfoster8859
      @barryfoster8859 4 роки тому

      Thanks, my vise is the CAE LAW copy, a very nice vise at a very nice price, but it didn’t include a centering tool. I can get it fairly close without a centering tool, but I like to be exact without it wobbling when rotating the head.
