Yet another superb pattern that should work under a multitude of emergence conditions, Barry. Your thread control is second to none! It's always a pleasure to watch you work your magic!!
I actually purchased the very same BIOTS from Funky Fly straight after watching your video anyway so thanks indeed .I really enjoy viewing your presentations as theres no ridiculous nonsensical music,no storeys about trivial stuff just the fly being tied
I use a very similar pattern all year round. Last week fishing at a tarn in the Lake district caught 3 nice fish using this. Locals mightily "pxxxxxd off. That a stranger comes along and catches off the surface. They were all thrashing the water using lures!!!
Barry - that's lovely. I find biots to be desperately fragile, and vulnerable to trout teeth. How would you feel about exchanging that with something like a pair of super-stretchy floss threads (chartreuse and brown)? The advantage of SSF, I find, is that it than be decreased and increased in size by tension changes, and it glosses well with resin or Hard as Nails. A bloody sight cheaper than biots, too.
Hi Duofold, for sure you can sub the biot, but I just like the very realistic natural look they have and they are very robust. Check out the wild turkey biots from Natures Spirit - funkyflytying.com/product/natures-spirit-stripped-barred-biots/
Hi Donald, thanks. Well the CDC is the main floating element of the fly. The little puff of CDC at the rear of the borax and the forward wing of CDC give this pattern an almost perfect presentation.
@@Thefeatherbender My cdc flies always sink like stoned. Obviously I'm doing something wrong. I'll ask my pals at the Guild as it does look great. Cheers

Another cracking pattern Barry . Looking forward to giving that one a go . Are you going to be doing another book ?
Thanks Dave, yes I am currently working on a Fly Tying for beginners book that there will be a lot of good and new tying techniques.
You must be making that book for me? Beginners
Superb Barry, would any long biot suffice or is the wild turkey biot a definite
Hi Stuart, yes for sure any long biot will do but these are magnificent: funkyflytying.com/product/natures-spirit-stripped-barred-biots/
Woow.
Top Mayfly
Thanks Mirko.
Hello my friend! super tying 👍 Like
Thank you!
Hi Barry, I can't seem to find wood duck, could I use Mallard?
Hi Dilly, yes wood duck will work, just about any flank feather from waterfowl works well.

Nice pattern! Is it possible to use quill for the body?
Greetings from Germany
Hi Syalix, yes but these I feel are the best: funkyflytying.com/product/natures-spirit-stripped-barred-biots/
A good looking fly style, but does the cdc add anything to it? I think I'll tie some without to see.

Curious about which brand of UV resins you prefer.
