idea i got for this pattern is to split the cdc wing with a thorax cover and set it with a tiny bit of diamond hard so the wing lies spent, the draw back is it s hard to see but if you fish another dry in front that does the job,i got that idea from you when you tied the olive dry with the cdc wing and u split it with foam,a great fly, thanks davie for all your great tips that help us all catch more fish

Hello Davie. Glad to see you back mate. Great looking emerger for the box. If I'm right Davie is that a size 10 scud hook you used.
    Best Regards, Ken

    Hi Davie,
Ty G's comment on large fish/16 hook, it may be a consideration to go with a 3X short hook size 12. This would give a stronger hook, and a wider gape, but the body size should be about the equivalent of a 16, like the Daiichi 1510 Glo Bug hook.
    All the Best, Peter.

    Hi davie,
Excellent pattern once again.... just tied half a dozen and they were an instant hit at my local lake.... my friend was forthunate enough to land a 10 pounder on a size 16 which was a miracle.... the kamasan hooks I use seem to straighen after a couple or even obe fish which is disappointing!! Do you know of any hooks from any other company's that are much stronger? Or is this just common place with most small dry patterns?
    Many thanks
    Ty

Hi Davie, great fly. What grade of cdc do you use? I bought some but it does'nt look quite the same.

hi davie i feel you could improve this pattern by using split thread, dubbing with chopped up cdc fibres thus making a more effective pattern, making it appear more like an emerger would look in the surface film, apart from that a very nice pattern

my hearl has hair on both sides is that correct?do u just get a peacock eye instead of herl

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  7 років тому

      Hi Steve,
Use the herl from the peacock eye instead of the herl from further down the feather as it will give you the same body I got in the video...All the very best Davie..

Tying this pattern down to a size # 20 or 22 would be okay? Our Midge are very small

      Hi Ken Martin,
We do get very small midge both on rivers and lochs but I would say sizes 14s, 12s and 10s are hatching regular throughout the season especially on the lochs..I would certainly tye them down as small as you can to suit the midge that is hatching...
      All the very

Hello Davie, Great fly as usual. You are an excellent fly tyer. You failed to say the Hook size you were using and how small it can be tied. You most always say because with the camera it is impossible to know. Thanks ATB Sean
