    When my mature Aloe Barbadensis grows too long, I cut the entire root system, and set the root system aside to callus over and then replant the root system horizontally in the soil to grow pups for propagation 👍

      I wish I could see you do this because mine is too long. I was just gonna buy a bigger pot 🙈 idk how to care for it but I want to!

      @@TheKatarinaGiselle Are you referring to the root system being too long? If so cut it in half or depending on the length cut them in 6 to 7 inch segments but leave about 3 inches of stem on the Aloe plant itself and then wait a day for both ends to callus over and then plant them in different pots if you want, I would like to clarify as well that I clean up the root stem as much as possible and get the dried leaf off around the stem to expose the flesh and root nodes then plant them

    Thank you for this video. I always thought that all Aloe plants were Aloe Vera plants. Mine looks just like your Aloe Dorothea. I had no idea that’s what it was. It was great to learn something new 🙂

      So glad that you learned something! Yes, and interesting to note that there are over 400 varieties and hybrids of aloe. They are such a cool plant. 💚

    Well my aloe plant has been in my greehouse since I had this issue of it looking like it was going to die and now it's big beautiful and has pups growing everywhere. It's in a hanging basket in my green house and I water it when I can put half of my figure in the soil and it's dry. Then I water it until a lil bit comes out of the bottom them I leave it alone for a while before I check again.

    That was very helpful. I took a lot of notes.
    Do you have any information about the care of air plants (tillansia)? I have 4 different varieties. Several have flowered and grown pups. I've read that the mother plant dies after it grows a pup, but that hasn't happened to mine yet, and it's been a couple of years. It's one of my favorite plants, and I want people to understand how to display (no hot glue to shells please!) and care for them. Thank you

      I need to know more about air plants myself. My mother has a wonderful collection, maybe we can work together on a video.

    Have you had any aloe Vera blooms?

    • @FreePlantsForever
      @FreePlantsForever  Місяць тому +1

      I don't have any Aloe Vera variety myself, so I can't speak to that, but all my aloe that grow outside do bloom regularly throughout the season. I think they need a lot of light to bloom.

      Oh no! As long as they are kept fairly dry and warm and with some bright light they should do well. I hope that helps and good luck!

      I haven't been able to do that myself, I have heard of people doing it, but it is rarely successful. Your best bet for propagation is with a stem.

    How to heal a sunburned Aloe vera plant

    • @FreePlantsForever
      @FreePlantsForever  5 місяців тому

      Unfortunately, as with most plants, sun damage on leaves are permanent, but luckily aloe are really hardy and will grow new leaves, and if the light is right, they can grow back pretty fast. I had some terrible leaf damage from aloe aphids and ended up cutting off the damaged leaves. The plant looked a bit sad for a month or two, but is coming back beautifully now. Most aloe can take hot direct sun if they're used to it. For the future, slowly ease them into the sun if they have been in lower light conditions. They will eventually do well in the direct sun.

    For propagation, I use rooting powder for plants 🪴, Easy Root - Cloning and Rooting Hormone
