Hi Carmen, aloes are nearly my favourite genus, euphorbias have the number one spot. Lovely aloes, and such a huge range available. We don’t have any access to any new aloes at present, due to travel restrictions. So I am concentrating on my what I have. In Australia many aloes are coming into flower now, our days are changing ....thanks for sending us more sun. It will soon be repotting time....there is a lot to do..I am amazed at the rate of growth over the past few months. Aren’t we lucky that we have our plants to keep us sane. Enjoy your videos so much, you certainly are comfortable in front of the camera , your voice is so soothing and your presentation superb.
I love Euphorbias too Cherree. That genus also has an amazing variety. I don't know how I would have functioned the last few months without my plants. Thanks so much for your kind words and for stopping by. Have a great weekend!
I know there's lots of people that let the leaves die and fall off naturally, but I just never liked that look. I don't let it linger, I chop them off! LOL!
Loving that aloe blizzard! I'm slowly drifting out of the tropical plants into more succulents and cacti. I love the idea of having plants that put out extraordinary blooms without so much work.
Aloe juvenna! Thank you for helping me ID my aloe. 😃 I love your aloe collection, Carmen. I can totally relate to you with the heat. We have not had rain in Vegas since April. This summer is really terrible. Thank you for showing us your aloe collection, Carmen. Stay cool and safe. 🙂🌵☕️
I love the bowl with the Aloe Macrosiphon. I buy pots, bowls, teacups, etc from my local Salvation Army store and like you, I drill holes in the bottoms. Love your aloes!
Thanks for sharing. It is only now that I've known of the varieties of Aloes. Interesting plants, too, that do not require much care. God bless and keep safe--Philippines
Amazing aloe collection!! Your striata has grown so much since the last video!! My favorite aloe in my collection is my macrosiphon. I learned something new today...1.) I didn't know it's nickname was alligator and 2.) I had no clue they offshoot pups!! Thank you for your wisdom auntie!!
Carmen, your Aloes are gorgeous!!! I have 2 big aloe vera plants. And 2 other types of aloes can't recall their names, but I love them. And thanks to you I will be looking to add to my collection. Thank you for sharing 😊
Carmen, love your collection and the information you shared with us. All your plants look so good. I have a few succulents and will be adding more after watching your video. Love your channel!’
Great video I’ve learnt a few things I didn’t know about Aloes definitely want to include some in my collection. That Striata is beautiful. I’m a recent subscriber and enjoying your channel immensely
Great video! I own a few succulents ( which are bought online or not online and some are begged for ) I only started with aloe Vera chinensis as my first succulent and then in July 7 I bought a aloe hybrid online and I once struggled identifying it because the name says "aloe hybrid ( no name )" and picked the size variation as Large 1 then 4 days later ( 1 day before the plant arrived ) I finally identified the plant and it was a Aloe DZ ( aka Aloe Debra Zimmerman ) which Is created by Karen Zimmerman when I received the plant it has a rubbery like touch and texture and the plant was so beautiful and 7 days later after receiving which is today the plant is about to bloom I was excited that I can make my own hybrid which my land is full of eggplants but not really if I crossed these guys I would make Aloe Egginensis ( eggplant aloe hybrid ) sadly 3 of the eggplant tress dies and some remain to flower I'll edit this comment if the flower has gotten bigger or bloomed
Beautiful collection. I get confused between Aloes and hartwartias. So just treat them they same.lol. My Lowe's had some many plants on clearance for a dollar and two dollars. I have a ball they mostly was in good shape.
Carmen I just need to tell you after watching your video 😁 I ran 🏃♀️down to one of my favorite green house "Mesquite Growers" and bought me a the Tiger 🐅 Aloe !!!!!(and some others 🤭) My hat👒 goes off to you because your plants are just BEAUTIFUL I don't know how you do it, I live in Tucson Az and my garden is really struggling because of this heat ☀️♨️🥵🌡️ we've been having...😑☹️😞😔
My balcony garden struggled this Summer too. I think it's just Aloes are so much more resilient than Echeverias or Sedums. Thanks so much for the kind words and for watching!
I tried the Aloe Vera a few times and seem to always kill them. I'm good with the Climbing Aloe though. Absolutely love the way that Blizzard looks and will try to find me one. Thanks!
Great collection! I just wanted to add that they often curl in their leaves because they are thirsty. Especially ‘Firebird’, it definitely appreciates less direct sun and more water here in SE Texas. (Also, your ‘Snowstorm’ looks more like ‘White Fox’, and your “vera” at the end is actually a hybrid called ‘California’. Definitely lots of similar hybrids out there!)

Very nice plants. I still have not found the variety that was given to me. It remains tiny and does nothing but produce babies. I had a year old boyleii which produced babies, too. But this tiny, fragile variety is unreasonable. More like a peppermint plant - I do my work underground...

I don't know why I started my succulent journey with an echivera. 🤦🏽♀️ She almost put me off of succulents all together.
Echeverias can be hard. I don't have that many. Aloes and Euphorbias are my favorite succulents and there are so many to choose from.
@@carmenwhitehead I have an Aloe Vera now and love it. I've neglected her a bit recently in the Houston heat, but she's still looking fantastic. Such an easy and beautiful plant!
How much perilite do you add to the succulent soil?
I usually make it about 25% of the soil mixture. Hope this helps.
@@carmenwhitehead Thank you for answering my questions. Your a lovely lady 😉
Hello! How do I encourage aloe Vera to flower? Mine is more than 3 years old and the leaves are strong, but no flower!
I've found that direct morning sun seems to help in the blooming process. They need some sun (not harsh) to activate the process Good luck!
Very nice plants. I still have not found the variety that was given to me. It remains tiny and does nothing but produce babies. I had a year old boyleii which produced babies, too. But this tiny, fragile variety is unreasonable. More like a peppermint plant - I do my work underground...
What is the difference between aloes and gasteria succulents?? Some of them look similar.
It's hard to tell the difference. But, I found this article that may help succulentsbox.com/blogs/blog/how-to-identify-different-types-of-succulent-part-ii-aloe-agave-gasteria-and-haworthia
Hello. I use heated propagator, my aloe is 3cm how should i watering soil?
I wait till the soil is completely dry before I water my Aloes. Then I water till water drains out the holes.
Did you add stones to the plant
I sometimes add small rocks for appearance, or bigger rocks to help stabilize the plant if I've just repotted it.
Does the coral fire aloe have the same benefits as aloe Vera
No, I think that's exclusive to the Aloe Vera.
@@carmenwhitehead ok. I got the corral fire I guess it’s cute enough to keep thanks
Aloe Vera is the best air cleansing plant...edible and medicinal
Yes, you are right
How do you get an aloe Vera plant to flower ?
I don't have a formula, but I do know they need lots of bright light. For me it's just been luck.
