Love the idea of Gordon going all the way back to where it started, jumping through a portal and going back in time and stop the resonance cascade from even happening.
boy do i have the mod for you! it exists! its called Half Life: Invasion and was recently updated by the ReMod team
It's like that movie TENET. would be really cool admittedly if someone made a game with Tenet like action(Braid is timey-whimey but not in a real action fps sense)
Funnily enough preventing cascade resonance is endpoint of "Timeline" mod trilogy for original half-life. Throughout all three mods you take on nazis who got their hands on time machine and they try to change timeline so they set their new world order not just in one but in multiple timelines. Sounds zany I know but in last third part of mod trilogy Gordon after being in times stretching from prehistoric times to earth naturally dying by sun inflating finally destroy xen crystal and thus prevent the experiment that led to cascade resonance and he finally start to live his life as if nothing happened. Despite crazy premise I highly recommend to play all the mods as they get much better with every new installment.

Kinda neat that you actually have to use trip mine staircases to progress in a few parts, even if it is somewhat unintentional. I honestly don't think I've ever seen a Half-Life mod do that before, which is kind of surprising to me.
EDIT: If you ever update this, I think it'd be fun if you did the reverse of what Valve originally did with Gordon being knocked out and taken to the trash compactor. Maybe add a ladder so you can get back up to the trash compactor, and when you step into it, you get ambushed and knocked out like in the base game, the same cut scene plays and you spawn back in the room where the player is knocked out normally. I haven't modded for Goldsrc much, so I'm not terribly familiar with it, but I don't think it'd be too hard to cannibalize the triggers for that from the base game and edit them to work in reverse. Just a thought though, can't really blame you if you don't feel like putting more work into this lol.

So, i completed the mod, and i thought it was pretty unique... Even if some areas are kinda painful because of the Tripmine set-ups you need to do. But that's enough of that, i think this mod is pretty unique for what it does... Now, i wonder if someone can make Back-Life 2.

If this was truly back life it'd start with you on xen having to beat the nihilanth with your bare hands, traversing through the shit-show that is interloper, climbing out of the gonarchs nest then doing some impossible parkour to get to a portal. Also, what if you went forward on the tram in black mesa outbound?

Missed opportunity to start the game in the Gman train ride when he tells you looks like we do not work thogeder and teleports you back at lambda core LUL
this was actually really fun. lambda core and surface tension were definitely huge challenges, and it was hilarious to ride the tram from the intro backwards, sniping all the NPCs in the background. it reminded me of dicking around with impulse 101 in the pregame when i was younger
And then Gordon went back to his dorm, wrote a resignation letter and returned to Seattle to find a new job.
Basically this is how Gordon comes from interdimensional spacetime, goes all out to get a cushy job at Black Mesa, and then he goes home.

Just played it. Everything works but the tram gets stuck in front of the Barney knocking on the door. This is post 25th anniversary update. Awesome work btw. :)

I would actually almost prefer one of these with developer commentary. I think it's interesting and I would love to "play" it twice, once myself and once watching it back. But that's just me!

This was a pretty good mod. It gets really interesting when you play it with the randomizer mod.

I wouldn't think the glitch effect bug at 11:51 would work to get extra health etc (You will have to time to close the door etc or something else) ? I love the idea of going backwards, just seeing everyone still alive makes the level hard, but i see the reason why.

Completely new perspective to the game. ---------SPOILERS AHEAD------- I like the idea of traversability achieved by game physics (wall mines, long jumps) as much as possible, rather than just adding a bunch of additional teleports.

Half-Life but it only takes place in Black Mesa just like in the 0.52 alpha.
Kinda expected the last room, or rather the first room to be full of 100 enemies, or that Nihilanth or Gman would appear and tell Gordon off. Also the Barney (as in THE Barney Calhoun) with the flashlight banging on the door, is somehow blocking the tram from going past him. He's just barely blocking the player from triggering the little end credit message. I had to kill him and noclip out to explode his corpse to get the tram to keep going. Congrats on finishing the mod. I enjoyed it.

It goes in the halflife folder in the steam directory (like halflife/backlife/). Then restart steam.

Nice work! When playing the Blast Pit, I went through the usual process to turn on the power, etc. I was then able to kill the three tentacles. Then, as I approached the exit door, I was treated to a panicked scientist reacting to nothing and then being dragged through the air by some unknown telekinetic force!
Anyone wanting to try this, please be warned though: once you've killed the tentacles, the exit door is closed for good, so save the game first.

Doesn't quite make sense that all the original enemies are still in place, and the things that Gordon should've activated on his way to the end are not activated (like the pumps in Lambda Core) or whatever.
i would definitely remove all parts where you have to put the explosive laser thing and climb on them

Dude basically went back in time and killed all the scientists related to the project so the resonance cascade wouldn't happen.
This has absolutely nothing to do with the mod but to this day I still do not understand what the point was in sending a top secret spec ops team to kill the top secret military task force sent into the top secret science facility to kill the civilians doing the top secret science research.

Man, I did not see the extra conveyors added in 29:30 at first, I ended up doing the climb up with tripmines and only then did I see the other end of the added hole.
