This should be the blueprint for the next Hexen or Quake or whatever next game id software is working on, imagine this level of procedural randomized gameplay but with all the mystery and polish of a modern game engine, with professional art assets. Quake already had that "hub" gameplay concept even in 96 (and the new remaster doubles down on this), and Doom 3 was apparently supposed to have partially randomized levels that "snap together", an idea later resurrected in SnapMap for Doom 2016. Some passive synergies are just incredibly broken and I love it! Just a heads up for new Infinite Doom players: in the current release, there is a progress-breaking bug in one of E1M8's variants where the final teleporter takes you to a nearby spot instead of the final arena, with no way out but to intentionally end your run so as to not lose achievements (and the stuff they unlock). The devs are aware of it and should be fixed in the next release. edit: oh and if you think noclip is the answer, then don't. DO NOT CHEAT. The mod's brilliant script actively detects cheats (and even alterations if you try to change anything with Slade). You'll get an error message and forever lose your autosave.
If you ever get stuck like that again. Do an Emergency Restart. It will reset your souls and you will start at the beginning of the level. You may Emergency Restart once per map.

I'm not gonna lie, that's an incredible song choice for DOOM
Th-this is my mod! It was made for me!
Seriously though, this mod seems so absurdly tailor made to my tastes, it's kind of scary. I am IN!
Welcome! (gurgled in a creepy, zombie-like voice)
This isn't a roguelike, BUT there is a fantastic roguelike on doom already called DoomRL (and they even have a new version called Jupiter Hell). Highly recommend!
Yeah, more roguelite. Key trait of roguelikes is turn based.
There was a doom roguelike already and it’s been around forever. It was fantastic.
If it was a Roguelike, it would be like Rogue, but it is not. It's a Roguelite.
No meta progression, with randomly generated experiences (runs), makes it a roguelike and not roguelite
@@nemesissombria To be a roguelike it has to be like Rogue, it's not like Rogue, so it's not a roguelike. I don't care what arbitrary criteria you follow, but those are the generally agreed upon criteria for a roguelike to be titled as such.
@octonocular the game is like rogue, mechanically speaking. Just because it has a graphical UI doesn't mean it isn't like Rogue.
@@nemesissombria Respectfully, these are the two terms used to differentiate between the two genres, it's semantic at this stage, but it's still true.. Either way, I'm not going to seek validation for the truth. Believe what you like. :)
Multiplayer is a MUST! I feel like the dev is aware and will implement it if possible. Other than that little thing, this looks incredible!
Ackchyually it's a roguelite
It’s a roguelike. No one gives a f*ck about your opinion of what term to use. Roguelike & roguelite mean the same thing. The only reason the term roguelike went popular was because of “roguelites”
1:20 if you hover each item the recommended setting is shown. Not sure if that’s new
At one point, I realized that Wolfenstein 3D and Doom were 3D versions of Gauntlet (more so Wolfenstein, due to the run 'n gun pacing). Which then made me wish someone would make a 1-4 player mod of Doom that *was* Gauntlet!
Just finished watching, I'm really late on this. Just wanna correct one thing- the procedural level generation system will be called RAILGUN. Not Limbo. Limbo is just the name of the hub world. Amazing video man, thanks for the coverage: 👍
this looks like a super cool mod, i'm definitely gonna download and give it a try! it's surreal hearing my midi covers in the wild but i'm glad to be able to contribute to the doom community
This needs to become an official doom game. I would buy it on all platforms.
I wonder if id would hire this guy and release it officially
Wow, seeing the magic and attacks from Heretic and Hexen put into Doom feels right in a way I didn’t expect. John Romero would love this. 🤘
Thank god this is out. I tried a doom roguelike years ago, but couldn't get different mods to work together, so never really got to enjoy it or try it.
Over 30 years later, people are still modding and playing this game. Incredible.
DOOMRL is one of my favorite Doom experiences. Likewise, messing around with DOOM Arsenal is really fun.... I'm VERY Excited to see how Doom Infinite develops! Looks crazy fun thus far!
thank you for covering this, it looks super fun and you can tell there is a lot of love put into it
Seems quite awesome!!! Thanks for bringing it up!!
Love the presentation of your video, going to stick around for a while ;)
I forgot about the mod menu and didn’t realize what the wall cracks were. Thanks!
Ooooooo I can't wait to try this tomorrow! I'm currently addicted to Call of Doom but this mod looks crazy fun
The music my man thank you xx
relatable story this guy. i did the same. i never finished mine though. by coincidence, i started working on it again today after a 3 or 4 years hiatus. My next project in doom would be a roguelike too, but quite different from this tbh.
Push a bit, every day. It's hard, but it get easier the longer you do it.
"This is the best doom mod ever made."
*SAINT PROJECT BRUTALITY SENT ME TO END YOUR HERESY, PREPARE TO DIE!*
PB is overrated & shallow.
Yes the roguelike i was waiting for !
I just started the video and... is the song playing in the first minute Mattel from A7X?
edit: buried alive started playing soon after, I'm quite sure I just found a a7x fellow enjoyer
Absolutely fantastic looking so far. As someone who messes a LOT with RLArsenal, monsters, and DoomRPG... if I could get this one worked in there successfully... I will have created the best modpack for a roguelike RPG Doom playthrough.
Wow this is something I didn't know I needed, amazing indeed.
