“All Systems Red” by Martha Wells has been a go to recommendation for everyone for me.
It’s really short, so it’s not too overwhelming, and if you DO like it and want the option to read more it’s part of a big series.

11/22/63 will have you weeping at the end. My favorite of all Stephen King's books.

My recs: I Am Legend- short read. Kinda horror, kinda not, post apocalyptic, but the main character is just a guy trying his best to survive.
The Flower War - a little longer, standalone, incredibly well written adult urban fantasy
Altered Carbon - better than the tv show by an order of magnitude
Aurora Rising - sci-fi space opera but also kind of a crime novel?

That is a phenomenal list. I haven’t even heard of the last one, but if it’s as good as the other three I gotta check it out.

Thanks for the recommendations! I’m gonna try Red Rising because I really want more books to read! (I have to many but who cares!) I’ve already downloaded a sample to read later.

11/22/63 is an amazing book. It’s more than just time travel and saving JFK. I almost never read fiction, but I loved that book so much and remember reading it when I was 17.

I wish this series would go viral on tiktok instead of the absolute trash that goes viral for no reason. This book is SO GOOD: love the character, love the plot, love the dynamics 😭 wish more people would read this

I had to do a book report for one of my English classes in college about a book dealing with history. I chose 11/22/63 having already read it before and it was the best 70+ page report I've ever done

Hyperion is good too. Neuromancer is pretty good if you enjoy the sci-fi / cyberpunk setting
