  • Welcome back guys!
Well it's time we had a look at the GPX 6000, the brand new Minelab detector and the latest in the X series of gold machines. Will it compete with the SDC or the GPZ 7000 on small and big gold? Let's take a look.
A big thanks to Lost Treasures for allowing us the privilege to being one of the first to get a look at this light weight machine. Contact them if you would like to get your hands on one.

      @MrKeenaz 3 роки тому

Totally agree. I can see the point in larger targets at deeper depths too. Though to really put a unit to test would be using the one size and shape target at deeper depths. Why was there not a GPX 5000 in there. Maybe that unit kicked all butts. After all it is a sales pitch.

    Great stuff fellas, excellent comparison.
Robyn will be stoked with this, her first nugget was 400mm deep or more approximately with the 6000.
She had difficulty pin pointing it, so the 5000 was called in with the evo coil and it smashed its location.
So she’s looking forward to her training with Logan.
    Thx 4 sharing 👍

So yes u guys where right & I was wrong!!

6000 in the bag. Sdc a ripper on small targets would be great to see comparison with a 11" coil on it too .
Held back on buying a 7 since released always thought they weren't as good as 4500 , 5000 , so watching vid ground balancing between each target wasn't good..

In certain situations I’ve pinged half gram pieces at 7 inches with a 4500 and flat wound 11” coil, I use a 5000 but I’m super keen to maybe own a 6000 just for the fact they are so much lighter! Good test guys, but those targets need to go a little deeper to make things interesting. A 7g nugget at 10 inches is a pretty easy get, even for older PI's. Your last target, the GPZ gets a better signal to my ear, but the 6000 still hears it which is impressive. Many thanks

After a few days using the GPX and the GPZ in the real world (Vic) I have noticed a significant advantage that the Z has over the 6000. The Z is far more immune to electrical interference than the 6000 (when using the mono coil). The relative immunity is so pronounced that whilst detecting near power lines, I actually scraped possible targets with the 6000, then decided that I couldn't hear anything. The Z on the other hand easily recovered a 0.15 gram nugget from those scrapes that I had made with the 6000. So far the RFI level is the only issue that I've had with the 6000, and I'm sure, but haven't tried yet, that the double D on the 6000 will resolve these issues.

Seeing that I just bought the 6000, I think the 6000 wins. I just purchased the 6000 and haven't really tried it out away from my home which is in the city. I put the 14" coil on and the 6000 and it did settle down but the 11" would not settle down. I am hoping that it settles down. I also purchased the 17" coil and haven't tried. To Hot here in CA. Also have the Gold Monster and Equinox 800 (with the smaller coil) I love both of them also. So who has the GOLD BUG???? Thanks for this video.. Dave....

Hi Dave, the 11 is a mono coil so will not be able to repel all the emi in the city I’m guessing that is what you can hear. The 14 is a double D so it is best for reducing emi and ground noise.
You will be happy with it for sure. If you are over gold you will find it👍👍

I am still amazed about the fact that ML never listen to the demands formulated by its customers.....
Lets look at the 6000 and the 7000...
The little screen on top of the handle is is a great idea and very practical.....only if you have a goose neck....we have been asking ML to make the handle mounted on a spring loaded system so the hanndle can be adjusted to the left or to the right so the screen is visible without getting torticollis......for the price of these detectors one reckons that its peanuts to add something like that.....
About the 6000.....ML thinks that we hear thru our asses by installing the speaker at the back of the unit !!??!!??
The speaker should be on top of the screen at the end of the handle....would that make more sense or not !!??!!?? and it would only need a speaker 1 third of the size of the existing one , been right in front of your face.....

@@arcticminer32 a Zsearch is a coil made for the z7000 by nugget finder.
Although after making that statement I have had a change of thinking.
I would look into a XCoil 17 concentric. These are a Russian coil. I have heard of many reports of how good these coils are.
      Designed for small deep gold.
Why would you want small deep gold?
Because that’s the area where the new 6000 has the edge on other detectors and it’s the zone of remaining gold that’s probably not been completely hunted out.
You will still find rare bigger nuggets if they are there. Google the Xcoil and find out more.

@@goldfools5445 Thanks for the reply. I have found gold so small with the ZED that would not qualify as pickers. I don't want to go any smaller because this tiny stuff is a real challenge to pinpoint. James, I have no reason to hype the 6000, I own a 7000. This test was of course not definitive and there are many variables that could alter performance, however, we had no intention of making any machine look better. I thought every machine did well on the Test targets but yes in the real world the performance would be different given the unlimited variables. Thanks 👍👍

The thing I don't get about this video is why not crank the detectors up to the highest gain and optimal settings they will run on given the conditions, isn't that what it's about? real world? If they were all optimised to run in the highest sensitivity settings they will handle in the conditions on the day I'd be more interested. Clearly the GPX 6000 was far more affected by EMI than the GPZ, the GPZ would be happy to run a much higher gain than 9. Not many people run their detector in factory default settings especially when it comes to gain. Would the GPZ or GPX run in normal? I'd love to see the same test with the detectors actually setup for the conditions they were detecting in and see how the results vary.

Was interested to see your z7000 against my Garrett ATX with 12in mono in Duraki the other week on a 0.23g at 7in and both the z7k with bigger 19in (???) coil and atx 12in mono had no problems with it.
My ATX picks up all the targets on that tested and suffers no emi issues (something Garrett is renowned for).
$4k for a ATX, add another $1k for a 20in mono... think I'll pass on downgrading the bank account for the 6k.
