    Mate I can't believe you said you "heard" the 5000 was rubbish haha. I still use the 5000 when I could choose any of those detectors you had. The reason most people don't use a 5000 is because they don't understand all the settings and they use the same settings 95% of people use which are average. Once you do understand all the settings and all your coil options they are the jack of all trades and you can set your options to do anything. I can find from tiny specks up to deep bigger nuggets and small gram or less nuggets at depths that amaze me. I use settings that I've never even seen anyone mention or use in any comparison tests which I am really surprised about. I won't be trading it in any time soon.

    Thanks for the detailed review! Thanks for focusing on the ground noise issue. I’ve noticed it in a lot of other live demonstrations but haven’t heard enough honest talk about it. High mineralization is a good thing for seeking gold, but so challenging to get a stable threshold on the PI detectors.

I used it for 2 years but sold it .It wasnt the weight as much as it was the feel of it ,felt rigid and i guess its a bit heavy.Went back to the 5000 because i can swing that all day long

    I have a few Questions about the 6000…
    1- Did you in the meantime manage to get the ground noise issue figured out?
    2- Is there a firmware update already available and has Minelab addressed the ground noise problem?
    3- Is there a way to make it quieter other then putting the DD coil on?

    for complete waterproof for sniping places deposits and looking for nuggets snorkeling around creeks, would you recommend the sdc2300, or would one of those handhelds or pinpointers be better or just fine, or is it much better to have something like a sdc2300 underwater and a pinpointer on the side? and for mostly land the 7000? think that might be what I decide on.

    • @Brandanmayhew

      Sdc and 7000 or sdc and 5000 combo can't go wrong. Yes the sdc for creeks and bedrock around creeks and you can submerge whole machine. 6000 coils are waterproof so it would still do well but I'm not sure about submerging it. The sdc is a weapon if the right person is using it. 5000 great machine and lots of coil options. Never used a 7000 but I heard the 5000 can beat it in depth so there's that. Or a old 4500 are beasts on depth the aussie made ones, they are louder a lot more noise but will pull nuggety gold at wicked depths said to beat 5000 by small margin. Some people won't sell or trade the old 4500 for any detector. They didn't issue as many as the Malaysian made ones so they are rarer to come across nowadays

    I think Minelab have done a great job with their marketing in regards to naming the machines. The 7000 came out 6 ish years ago and was named a 7000. Years later the 6000 came out to complete the sequancial order of that’s a word. So the 2000 through to now the 7000. What comes next is anyone’s guess! Is it a 9000 that will cost 15k for the tech?? Or is there some new tech that is better that a PI machine being developed? Time will tell I guess. But Minelab is a business and the longer a new machine takes to develop will mean it will be more expensive.

    • @Brandanmayhew
      @Brandanmayhew Місяць тому

      Ful o gold. Did you get the 6000 and how would you rate it against the sdc in terms of size and depth. Would you prefer a 6000 or an sdc and 5000 combo? With all coil sizes for the 5000 upto 19" ? I feel like the 6000 will get smaller gold deeper than the sdc but it won't do what the 5000 can do with the right settings and coil (depth wise) Plus the ground noise and amount of hot rocks the 6000 picks up seems insane. 🤔

    • @Ful-OGold
      @Ful-OGold Місяць тому

      @@Brandanmayhew I did get the 6000 and can honestly say it blows the sdc out of the water in depth and sensitivity. I went back over my patches and was picking up fine gold at greater depth. Its nice to know I can still pick up large nuggets at depth and get tiny gold at greater depth to. The sdc is a great machine and still has it place but the 6000 has greater performance. As to running a 5000 and sdc combo I can’t comment as I have never used a 5. But have heard in the hands of the right person is still a weapon.

    • @brianfagnan
      @brianfagnan 3 роки тому +1

      @@CompleteProspecting Thank you. When you do the test don’t stop when the “deeper” detector beats the other, see how much further away it really can go. Even though this would not simulate real world situations it does provide information on sensitivity with the ground removed and in theory should provide a percentage of distance away from the coil. Meaning the Z could still be up to 40% deeper like on past GPX machines. If you could do that with a variety of nuggets that would be awesome but at least a 1 gram gold slug. If you got spongy gold and other varieties that would be interesting too! Oh don’t forget to mention the settings used.

    • @Brandanmayhew
      @Brandanmayhew Місяць тому

      @@CompleteProspectingI wouldn't call it a great business model as the prices have gone up 1 thousand dollars per gold detector. The thing is, if they think they are going to sell more this annual than the previous 3 or 4, then they are kidding themselves. A price increase like that will only steer people away from buying one, they were already exextremely expensive, but now they're just taking the piss. When profits are down next year due to customer demand, they will have no option but to lower the prices back to last year's prices or else share holders will not be very happy.
      The amount of second hand detectors available is crazy too. Especially in times like we are in, less people are buying things like expensive gold detectors. This was a horrible decision by minelab. Instead of ripping the customers off another 20% because of "inflation", they should just bite the bullet and not make as much profit per detector, but sell more of them which means more profit. I really think that this decision will bite them in the ass. And we all know that parts and materials did not rise by 20% for companies like minelab.
      We're just in an environment now where greed is priority and seeing as every other big greedy corporation is getting away with it then minelab also think they can too.
      I'd say 10% Max inflation. So the detectors maybe should have gone up 500 a piece. Even that sounds crazy. The sdc is 5 grand now. Ridiculous!!!! Seeing as the sdc is half the price of a 6000 (old prices) then shouldn't the sdc only go up around 500 with some basic maths. It seems like the ceo just said ok slap an extra grand on each detector without much thought😂

    Yep really honest opinions thx 4 sharing, the Mrs has the 6 and she is wrapped in it.
    There’s a bit of playing around 4 sure but when she starts finding gold all is forgiven, she loves using the bigger coil as well. The 7 is still king 👑 no doubt but she is happy and that’s all that really matters hey. Thx again

      Thanks for the kind words, great to hear that your Mrs enjoys the 6000, interesting that she loves the bigger coil. Out of interest does she use a bungie with the bigger coil? As I'm planning on taking my wife out and I'm interested to see if she needs a budgie or not...

    18:05 "i never really used much of the 5000 but from what i hear it was rubbish" 🤣🤣 To anyone new to prospecting, please ignore this horrifically uneducated comment. A GPX5000 is still, and always will be, an insanely good metal detector which was the undisputed king of gold detectors for 5 years until the 7000 was released. The 6000 is very sensitive which is a great feature and it actually handles ground noise pretty damn well, IF you know what you're doing. Mono's on the GP Extreme / 3000, even the other GPX's taught a lot of us how to deal with that. Others just used the 6000 for more than a day until they learned how to drive it properly. It's an awesome machine which excels on smaller gold down to around the 8" mark. Of course it'll punch deeper for a bigger bit but that's it's sweet spot. The 7's specialty is bigger, deeper gold but i'll miss a lot of the sub gram stuff that the 6 will find. 5000's are a great compromise between the two and would be the best value for money out of all of the machines in this review. Take or leave my opinion but i've done this for a long time. Cheers.

    Great video, but last half of video @21.20 saying that the GPX 5000 was rubbish…..yeah Nah. You obviously never used the GPX7000 when it first came out.
    Terrible ground balance problems.
    4500 and 5000 have better coil range, cheaper and will find almost every nugget the others will, just harder to use if you’re new to detecting.

    Actually mate, the 23 folds another time on it’s self, probably half that of the 6. You need to bang down the handle.
    Only in the last year or 2 I’ve been folding the 7 from the lower shaft, it dangles a bit, but some double sided Velcro and it’s all good. It would fold about 100mm longer that the 6.

    I do find my 6000 noisy but the DD coil smooths it out, i got a 0.1 at 20cm on saturday, I think that was pretty good! I'd like it a bit less noisy but I was still finding a heap of targets I'd misses on a patch I had with my 5000

      This guy is a clown. What is with the salesman from minelab or wherever they're from all sounding like clowns? First off he says the Z is 9 and a half when it's really $9,800, so he's making it sound cheaper than it really is and then he goes on to say that the gpx 6000 can find gold smaller than the 2300 😂 hahahahahha. The 2300 finds 0.03 all day and possibly 0.2. Monster finds 0.02 gold.. you can't get any smaller than that so he's just talking trash. I'd love to see the 6000 find the match head 0.03 stuff I get with my sdc2300. It could potentially pick up 0.02 also but I havnt found anything that small in my few trips. I think the best thing to have is a 2300 + a 5 or 7000, that way you get the best of both worlds, sensitivity and depth. Also the 2300 is great for bedrock and using in creeks etc vs the 6000. Don't act like the 6000 is a way better machine overall when its not. They all have their specific uses and the 6000 to me seems like a sdc but not as sensitive, but not as deep as a 5000. I've hears 5000s go a lil deeper than a 6000 because they are more based for the smaller stuff but still have some depth to them. So yeah it's a great all round detector for small gold and has potential to pick up deeper medium/bigger gold, but it's not like it covers all machines. Having a 2300 and a 5000 or a 2300 and a 7000 would be better than having just a 6000 simply put. You would cover ground more effectively and find more gold but you would have to go over the area with two detectors. Just a bit of food for thought. So yeah it's probs better for like general purpose and stuff but it won't find gold as small as a 2300 or monster and it also won't find stuff as big as the z 7000 so it did fit in its slot yes but by no means has it taken over any detector. They're like fishing rods, they all have different uses

    What amazes me is why people are using Those big expensive machines in the WEST where the nuggets are extremely shallow. My $1000 gold monster would smash that ground all day. Would only use those pulse induction machines here in Victoria where you have a chance of large nuggets in deep ground. Don't waste your money if detecting in that desert ground in Western Australia.
    Those tiny nuggets are made for the Gold Monster
