- If you are like us you also love to push the capabilities of your detectors to pick up those faint targets. After being locked into the auto setting without threshold we have worked out a way for our GPX6000 to get many more targets.

Great Review! Thanks! Yeah Threshold is always the secret for search an find! Threshhold is always Analog for signal to your hearing! Digital to analog audio is always filtered in its prosses to your hearing! Your Video is proof again for audio definition of targets! Luv it!

Hi mate the 6000 is so light you don’t even feel like you’re swinging. I’ve never used a 4500 but I’m sure you could google weights etc

Modern day minelab models attract to much EMI try using sd2200 or gp 3000. Troy from Kalgoorlie.

What happens if you turn threshold on in auto 1

What setting are you using for no thresholds le are you just turning it in n off on same sensitivity or going to auto 1 cos auto 1 is not great where auto 2 no threshold is way better than auto 1 and with no threshold you can also run normal ground so is way better than difficult think it’s how you set it up
Hi mate, where we go always requires difficult ground here in QLD. With regards to the settings we always use the highest sensitivity we can while maintaining a stable threshold. We rarely use any auto setting and prefer full manual control. 👍👍

You’re welcome mate. We do believe that there is no right and wrong settings so by no means do we think our settings are superior. Many different variables to say what is correct but more important is that the individual is comfortable however they set-up. 👍👍. Good luck on your hunt brother
Working with a Threshold is always best 👍 however you can work happily without a Threshold and not missing much gold IF you know, how you can increase a target’s response so it will break the NO Threshold barrier.
Just saying guy’s it depends on many factors on why you would or would not want to hear the Threshold and still get good gold at all times regardless.
But like with everything we do, everything is always a compromise…what works for some, might not work for others.

I agree Aussie, the most important thing is that you are happy with your settings. I know if I’m not confident with my settings my head is not in the game. I find my frame of mind is more important than minor changes to settings. 👍👍

Hi mate, while the gold monster and equinox can find gold they really do struggle with ground noise. We started with an equinox and soon discovered we had to upgrade.
Having said that either of these machines will get you in the game and in the fresh air and you can always trade in if and when the time suits. The equinox is also good on the beach and the parks etc. You might be able to find some coins or jewelry to help save. Hope this helps 👍👍

Hey Smokey... thanks for the tips re: threshold on the 6000. I've traded up to the 6000 and have had some success running on auto 1 but find it a little too sensitive on moist patches. I'll try varying the settings from 1- 6 with threshold on for my next trip. I love the machine but am still trying to get familiar with it's settings. Off to to Vic fields I go ... hi ho hi ho it's off a-detecting I go, with mi pick n detectin' stick :). Cheers.
Hi mate, yes in wet ground the machine will be erratic but don’t be afraid to drop the sensitivity to steady the threshold if you have to. Good luck 👍👍
LOL yesterday i found a 0.1 with the 6 near a underground telstra cable and was was walking over to my mate to show him and dropped it on the cable, took a while to find it with the pointer, lucky it was on a leaf

Not really threshold vs non more max manual sensitivity vs auto 1 was max manual usable over the ground conditions? not having a go just clarifying

Yeah I changed it to auto which rotates through sensitivity but did try on 6 too with same result👍👍. I didn’t try max sensitivity because the machine was not stable in this instance. Not saying that auto is not good but this was enough for me to loose my quiet time 👍👍

Hi Guys I run my 6 with no threshold all the time. I would like to see a comparison of the sensitivity set to run smoothly with threshold on against threshold off and manual sensitivity up on max which is were mine is set. Turning the threshold off allows you to run much higher sensitivity. That’s one I’ll try next trip out. Keep up the good work

You have choices to lift a target response without the threshold at least on the 7000, as for the 6000 I will have to first get one to determine if the method will work as on the 7000.
If YES you could or likely would in such a case, hear that target just as good if not better

Good video there Smokey, I just need some clarification on your test there. Was this test done on manual 6 both times with and without the threshold ? Or was it Auto 1 and manual 6 testing ?

Hi mate, I did try auto a manual 6 with same result but as we don’t know the sensitivity the machine chooses in auto it doesn’t mean much to me. All I know is this was enough for me to switch. 👍👍
@@SmokeyProspecting I think you need to try this test again with the Manual mode 6 with the threshold on and off so it is comparing it with the same sensitivity level and not on Auto.
Threshold can be toggled on or off for all levels by press and hold the Ground type button for more tham 2.5 seconds. Page 22 of the GPX6000 manual.
Hi mate, yes the video showed only sensitivity 6 on and off threshold. I did try auto settings off camera but made no difference so didn’t bother adding it in. 👍👍

Hi Matt, If you are after more targets get the 6, if you are after a serious deep target machine/ all rounder I would go the 7. This is just my opinion. 👍👍
Oh, and probably not on a few of those targets but probably a majority of them the 7 would get but you would want to be super slow with massive patience 👍👍

Can't you just turn threshold on or off in auto one ,the minelab video shows how to do this.

I just got my 6000 a day ago, the dealer was big on running in auto to let the 6000 do its thing, so it changes with ground conditions and that a lot of people aren't using this mode , I get a stable smooth threshold helps to hear a faint signal .anyhow yr finding yellow all good.
Mate, I think what you are doing makes sense using the new technology. By no means do we think our settings is the correct or only way. To be honest, the 6000 will find gold in most settings. We might give the auto setting another run with threshold and see how it goes 👍👍
Cool Smokey , i was pondering it all over .im no bruce candy is a good topic with my sdc at times i dropped off the threshold just for a while as i read of a new user finding gold that way , i was giving my ears a rest . Hope you pull a nuggy in auto champ.

@@SmokeyProspecting thx appreciate your reply hey, I asked that because I tested the Mrs 6 at Karara on flat knacker sensitivity with no threshold with both coils and snagged good signals on all six targets there.
I did find the DD was the best performer on the 6 thou.
But I will get the Mrs to try out your setting on her 6, 4 sure.
