I remember them days me and my cousin would park on the side of the old piece of road. One took one ridge I’d take the other we didn’t have cell phones in them days we left his or my truck whoever had the most gas and stay gone till around noon. Shortly one of us would come out to get help from the other to drag a deer out. Absolutely the best times. He’s at his house barely can get around anymore and I had triple bypass heart surgery last Thursday. We still go not near as much as we used to. Take care of yourself you’re young buddy it don’t take much to knock a person down and keep him down. Be safe and GOD BLESS
Know how you feel. I lost my best friend and hunting partner, my Dad, 2 February's ago and my youngest brother last February. Also all of my Dad's friends that I grew up hunting with have passed. It's hard, but I still get out there more and more, but don't like hunting alone. Nice video and doe. God bless.
Such a great demeanor to all your content. Also people don’t realize just how difficult it is to hunt deer with a stick bow, much less get beautiful footage of it. Outstanding brother
Nice work on the video Gabe. Dave Bott was one of my favorite customers when I was still in Michigan. I will bet I sold or traded close to 75 different Trad bows with him. He was na really nice guy, always positive thinker! Nice tribute.
Hello Gabe. In my book you have the best white tail hunting videos! From your commentary to the acoustic guitar music , the images, your obvious love of the natural world.... Because of health problems I couldn't be out there with my bow this past season, hopefully this next. In the meantime your videos will help keep the dream alive. All the best to you and yours.
It's always a pleasure to watch your videos Sir. There's no other hunter that inspires me more to keep on hunting and pass that way of life onto my children!! thank for your awesome videos!
Great to see anew video Gabe. Will not be able to bow hunt this year, health reason, so I'll be looking forward to see your hunts and those from other avid bow hunters like you and to all the hunting community out there blessings and be careful.
I’m going to pull some age on you here Have you seen the Dan Fitzgerald videos they were the Passing Through series. He set up cameras on him up in a stand and caught the arrow passing through as he called it.
Very cool video! Excellent shooting! Butch makes a really good broadhead doesn't he. I've know him for a long time. He's a great shooting and hunting companion, and I know how passionate he is about making his equipment into a quality product. I like the made in Michigan products too. You just can't go wrong.
I have really enjoyed your channel. I believe you can be more than just a youtube channel producer if you want to be. You have talent unmatched by no one producing hunting vids in MI at this time. I am sorry for your loss of a good hunting friend. I too have lost many and share the ups and downs life throws at you.
Very well made video. Sorry for the loss of your good friend. I just bought a stickbow. Hoping to hunt with it next year. Growing tired of the cams, cables, and gizmos.
Awesome shot and very sorry about your friend! So glad we have hope! One thing i noticed in this vid was that the shot seemed close but how quickly that doe reacted. Your shot was perfect! I know these bows and heavier arrows aren’t fast but man are they lethal. And boy do these deer have some crazy abilities. Good hunt
I completely understand. However, it's very hard to self-tape these hunts and kill deer with a longbow from a tree stand. It would ridiculously hard to try to do the same from the ground. I've shot quite a few deer from the ground but only been able to video them with a GoPro which doesn't make for good video. When I have a cameraman it's a little easier but that's not very often at all unfortunately. Sorry.
You’ll love the new bow! They are nice. If you need the setups I’m using, I try to always post them in the description. This one was shot with a Day Six HD 400 with a 225gr Cold Arrow Archery head.
I’m sorry about the loss of your friend. Great shot, great hunt! I can’t believe how great the video clarity is as well!! What was the name of the broadhead again?? I’d like to look them up!
Wondering what the width of the broadheads you were using? Some archers swear a 1.5 inch two blade is the way to go for blood trials. What is your experience for overall cut and blood trails?
The head I used for this hunt is just over an inch. I believe it’s 1 1/8”. I too used to want a big cut broadhead. But I found I lost penetration and didn’t always get a pass through shot. I would rather have two holes in an animal than one big one. Just my two cents. I shot two deer last year with this head and both died in sight in less than 60yds. I’ve shot a lot of deer with all different heads and this is as good a performance in a head as you can hope for. So, my overall experience is that shot location trumps size of head. If you make a bad shot, a bigger cut head can help but I’d rather have two holes (and possibly smaller width) myself.
Good to know as I shoot 1.1/8 two blade and had them drop 50 yrds as well. I also shoot a small 3 blade that works very well also.. Some bowhunters mentioned the bigger the Broadhead they found more often the deer would even run off faster with a bigger wound than a smaller cut head.. I agree shot placement is everything and two holes are better than one.. thank you
I’ve got about 10 different trad bows and this is my favorite. It’s short and maneuverable for treestand hunting and also forgiving for how short it is. I love it!
@@KevinTodd-u7dwhen I finally get around to building a self bow with the Osage I’ve got in my garage, I’ll be doing that. Until then, it doesn’t really interest me to shoot a modern laminated bow, carbon arrows and then affix a homemade broadhead on it. I’d like to do the whole package and shoot something with it eventually
If you have something important to say, Dub it in later. No more of the Whee whee whaa whee. videos. They just suck shit through a tube. Other than that the content is great.

AWESOME hunting with traditional archery. You the man. Excellent hunter😲 Thanks
RIP Dave. That's so cool you're carrying on his story with that bow of yours.
Beautiful shot.

We used to rent those VHS videos all the time! Passing Through was one of my favorites. They were the best ones on the market for quite awhile.
Yeah, I always enjoyed the Fitzgerald videos as well. Great father and son team.
I still own them. AND Hunting October Whitetails with Wensel and Blase.
I could listen to Gene and Barry Wensel all day! Great guys and loved their videos
Fred Eichlers "Traditional Harvest" videos were amazing as well.
That video from the other side is insane! Great video, subscribed. Hunting traditional for the first year myself.

Nice tribute to your friend. Love your trad bow content!
Great video and great hunt thanks for sharing prayers sent for you and Dave's family
Nice video man! Always great to sweeten the freezer and the fresh heart meat is delicious. I'm going to try fresh liver and onions this year too. 😊
Awesome video, awesome shot. like those broadheads.
Great job once again Gabe.
Gotta love bow hunting nothing like hunting undisturbed deer love your set up

Great camera quality! Well done
Great hunt! Nice tribute at the end.
MAN, thats some super clear footage. i've love to know some details of your camera setup. Great vid.
The main cam is a Sony NX80 and GoPros for the rest. Nothing too special.
@@FullQuiverOutdoors Thanks for the reply. Great footage.
Great video as always. Well done.
Gabe, you do a great job keep it up.Good Luck and may God bless.

Thanks Matt. Been trying for a couple years to get it. 👍🏻

Nice shootin Gabe. Great start to the season >>>----->

As someone with age and disability issues I would be interested in ground level archery hunting.

Congrats man!

Always amazing to see people harvest deer woth trad bows I’d miss the wall lol
Oh I’ve been known to have some spectacular misses too! Lol. I just try to get them super close so it’s harder to miss.
@@FullQuiverOutdoors hey man I get it but either way I think it a rad using trad bows I haven’t drummed up the courage to try it yet lol

Thanks! The broadhead is a Cold Arrow Archery and he’s got a website you can check them out.
What camera did you use for filming this?
I shot it on a Sony NX80 and some GoPros
Great hunt, shot, & footage!!! What's the name of broadheads you're using ???
Cold Arrow Archery. He’s got a website to check them out.
Love your videos so much. Get excited every time I see one! Where did you get your bow and what is it called, if you don’t mind me asking?
Never mind, I just saw you mention it in the video 😂
@@TheGrandSlayer, haha, beat me to it.
Beautiful Doe Gabe. Sorry for your loss of Dave. What do you think those black roundish bumps on some of the deer in this video are?
I think they are warts of some kind. I’ve seen them before over the years.
Deer fibroma. If you Google it, there is a bunch of info with pictures. Interesting stuff.
Nice shot my friend..what limb veneers do you have on your bow?
The are walnut burl veneers. 👍🏻

You are covered in deer. Was the wind perfect or what scent cover to you use? Great job.!
Wind was good for most of them. I use Conquest Evercalm for a cover scent. It’s really the only scent I use. I’ve had good luck with it
Congratulations
Do they still have those broadheads? Send me a link if you have it please
Look up Butch Bertram on Facebook. He doesn't have a website.
Thank you! 👍
What kind of broadhead was that?
If I remember it was a Cold Arrow Archery. All the specifics should be in the description.
Did Cold Arrow go under?
Nope. He doesn’t have a big operation. You’ll have to look him up on Facebook (Butch Bertram).

Who makes that bow
It's a Two Tracks Ogemaw, 54lbs
Very nice
New sub here
Keep it up
Как говориться - С полем!
Why don't you make your own arrows and broadheads it's a lot more satisfying than some joker in Michigan making them🐾🐾🐻🏹
I built my own arrows and crest them myself. I don’t have time to build everything so I use high quality heads others build for me.
@FullQuiverOutdoors all you need is a piece of glass like an old Coke bottle
