What a coincidence! On the very day you posted this, I was editing a video I had shot the day before. Because it was just for fun I decided I didn't want to go through the bother of importing into my computer. So I did the 2 min video all on my iPad. It was super easy. Now I have to watch YOUR video on how I probably should have done it.
Nice! Yeah not a bad set of editing tools that most of us can cary with us everywhere :) It can really help people create content anywhere. All the best!
Brilliant video Justin. Just a quick question if I may? Whilst exporting and uploading the footage to UA-cam how much quality do we lose? Can iMovie export 50fps or 60fps without any loss in quality? Thanks
I may be able to answer that... If you didn't shoot at 50 or 60 fps, why convert? Only reason would be for allowing slow-motion, but it should really be shot at that frame rate to allow for smooth, true definition HD. I'd recommend uploading to UA-cam at the highest resolution you can export, and that depends on what resolution you have your camera set to. I always shoot in HD (1080p), and upload accordingly. Hope this helps.
Dude with a Dog Thanks for your feedback mate. I never said I was converting. I just enquired about exporting and if we can retain the higher frame rate. Many editing softwares do not allow you to export at higher frame rate. Yes you are right about shooting in HD as a great option. I have shot over 450 videos on my channel and nearly all in Full HD and uploaded at the same rate. However often when I feel the need i like shooting at 50fps or 60fps only to find out that it would only be exported up to maximum of 1080P. My question was 👉 Can iMovie on the iPad export at 50fps or 60fps?
While I haven't personally tried this, there's an article on Apple's website saying it's now possible (15 Nov 2015). support.apple.com/en-au/HT205346 "In iMovie for iOS, the clips in your project determine how you can export your movie or trailer. If the majority of your project is made from photos or 60 fps video, then you can share or export at 60 fps." The link has a walkthrough guide to help. Keen to know what your results are like :) All the best!
Dude. This was SO informative. Just now learning what IMovie can do and I'd say you have the best instructing video for this app out there. True you can't cover everything in a video this short. But you covered the most important, that's for sure.
thank you so very much for this video. i was getting so frustrated trying to get my video from my iphone to my mac to edit with imovie (kept telling me wrong format, etc. which is bs) and then i see i can just edit it on my iphone and upload directly to my youtube channel. again, thank you so very much! LIKED + SUBBED!!
Wow this video helped me out so much!!!! The only thing I need to know is how to do layovers like for example if you wanted to put a frog or something on for like 5 seconds, how would you do that??
Thank you so much for this video. i'm a 5th grade teacher and I'm gonna use your video as a tutorial for them to learn how to use iMovie. thanks again for this incredible resource.

Thanks! I want to know how you added the red arrows throughout your video tutorial? I’m making a training video and can’t figure out how to add drawings onto my screen recording videos on my iPad. Thanks so much
Great stuff, but I can't find that visual representation of audio on my iPhone 6 plus - seems like you're using an iPad, and the layout of iMovie is different.
Great job. I'm a teacher from the 80's-90's who did video during the analog age. Yea .... that old. My students probably know this stuff already. *ha* I just subscribed.
Hi Justin I like your videos but when trying to follow your iMovie tutorial for IOS , your screen shots are different to mine and therefore I cannot follow your procedure. I have an iPhone 6S plus and the latest version of iMovie. Any suggestions please
