I don't think anyone cares that it is expensive. The $1,000 stand on the other hand is the biggest meme ever for something that clearly is just a flex piece considering it's functionality. But professionals will just get the vesa mount anyway so that doesn't matter.
The people who buy this display won't think twice about $1000 for the stand. I am sure those whining or just trolling that $1000 stand have little knowledge of the market for this device. I think Apple did right for the consumer as they could have made it a proprietary stand, but they give it as an option instead. So many that will be replacing old gear may already have the mount to simply hook it up, others can choose the Apple stand or not? It really is simple and those Apple haters will hate whatever Apple did. Apple is a luxury brand and expecting cheap is simply ill-informed or simply misunderstanding economics. These are not forced on you to buy, they are a luxury, very expensive choice, much like in every aspect of life, you pay for the design, the brand looks or simply because you can. A very nice product that is miles out of my league, but I am not jealous or hateful, simply not rich enough to afford!
@@andyH_England I would guess 99% of the people buying the display won't buy the stand. (This being studios using Mac Pro's) People in the studios use monitor arm's for the flexibility that the stand won't allow plus they probably already have the arm. This monitor was squarely aimed at content creators mainly on UA-cam or web etc hence the price. This is not even close to being on the same level as a true reference monitor (many reviews to back this up). However I don’t think the price is bad but I also don’t think the monitor is anywhere near as good as apple claims either.
@Jacks Journale that's because CRTs don't use backlight, they have phosphor pixels that are self-emitting, like OLED and Plasmas.. delivering infinite contrast ratio and superior everything. most monitors you see nowadays can be bunched into LCDs, they use just different types of cell layer and backlighting. Future LCDs will soon match CRT/Plasma/OLED with microLED or dual-cell backlighting.
