The one thing that surprised me to hear about this monitor is that there is so little bandwidth left from the Thunderbolt connection after dealing with the 6k screen that the USB hub on the back of it is limited to USB 2.0 speeds.

This... I purchased new from apple in December. I use it for my photography business. I make money on it. Sure it's expensive but it's a tool that I use every day. Only professionals and people with lot's of money to burn should buy this. Also, I don't care that it's 60hz. The point is color, dynamic range, and clarity.

I think in the future, as OLED replaces LCD on consumer displays, we'll look back on this monitor as one of the best LCD displays ever created. Insane color accuracy, contrast, brightness, true 10-bit color depth, it has everything that you could ask for from an LCD monitor. The 60Hz refresh rate will probably be the worst aging part of it, but if you just want great picture quality for content consumption and creation, I would assume it won't age terribly badly in the future.

9:50. I can relate to these cleaning procedures. My current monitor (innocn 27m2v) also has a matte coating. HOWEVER, you can also use any reasonable quality camera microfiber cloth. My favorite one is the Cameron extra large microfiber cloth which is a little bit larger than apples polishing cloth and is very thick and easy to grip and use. Lens cleaning solutions are also great for usage on these types of monitors, for example eyeglass cleaning solutions, they have never failed on either my laptops or monitors matte coatings.
Unfortunately as good as these monitors are though, pro display XDR doesn't work well with other operating systems, but I think that's one of the subjectivities of this monitor. The design is really good though and 6k with miniLED is a niche that pretty much nobody else has (even dells ultrasharp 6k is poopy low in its contrast ratio).
I do believe that if they update this monitor it will probably get the same tandem OLED as on the iPad. And with thunderbolt 5 coming out, 120hz "promotion" might be possible. That would certainly be quite a sight to behold.
I'd bet if they refreshed this monitor (pun not intended) that the used market for the existing pro display XDR would get a lot better and prices would drop. So people should keep an eye out for that too.

@@evancycles Yeah, you're right, the money was rightfully mine all along. If my employers would have paid me what I rightfully earned from the get go I could have saved up and bought the display after a few months. Then again, I was very undisciplined with money at the time and would have never saved up $6000 plus 8% for sales tax, so it's a double edged sword. Either way, I love this display. When a successor comes out I will buy it on day one.

Thunderbolt currently doesn’t have any standard which can support that bandwidth. Maybe two Thunderbolt connected simultaneously and all of that processed for a fast refresh rate and 120hz. It’s going to be nuts. Very do-able, but expensive and they won’t go with the 2 thunderbolt idea. So currently, no pc or mac will be able to use the 6k120hz because of the bandwidth limitation.

I have owned and daily use a pair of these with Nano-texture glass since they were launched. Close to top of the list of features for me is the One Thunderbolt 3 (USB‑C) port and three USB‑C ports on the rear of the display. I would have prefer all to be Thunderbolt 3 or 4 now. I did buy one with a stand and the other is on a vesa mount and arm. I like the monitor's colour management options. I do not game but do use them for editing photos and videos. THe HDR capability rec 2020 equivalence is great.
I had a flight case made for one ProDisplay XDR and its stand and this helped while I was on long term assignment.
I have no view on the Apple Studio display. I have large top spec large EIZO monitors and the earlier large (but smaller than XDR) LG 4k monitors but the lack of built in features in these mean they sit off the the side and rarely used.
I use the ProDisplay XDR with a MacStudio Ultra and M2 16" MBP (when in the field) - these displays work seamlessly with these sources.

I also bought this monitor second-hand, and after not even 9 months of use, it broke. The screen suddenly turned black, and nobody, including Apple, could repair it; only a replacement (not new) with a warranty of only 90 days, for the sum of 3000 euros. It didn't seem like a good deal to me, so it became a significant loss. It now sits on the other desk as an object with a pleasing appearance. Now I have opted for a new studio display with a 2-year warranty.
Setting aside this experience, the monitor is absolutely phenomenal. The colors don't compare to the studio display panel. The 32-inch screen does help me more, to be fair, with a thinner bezel than the studio display, although I didn't use HDR. I wouldn't buy it new; it's not worth the price difference for my productivity work compared to the studio display, but if I were to find another second-hand one with more warranty, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.

It is a timeless monitor. I got one for about 4 years now and I still love it the same as the day I bought it. I also prefer it from my LG C1 for HDR content. There is something organic in the image of this monitor that can't get achieved by the C1.

Then you would have to add on AppleCare which is like $500 for one and you have two of them so it’s $1000 in total so the total cost is $13,000. The costs need to be thought out into the future as videos/digital images... artwork film making will all require larger storage for screening and having the M4 studio 'maxed' with this monitor, and you're talking 10 years of awesomeness ❤ Then because you're the kind that keeps things nice will trade in this for a entirely new upgraded to modernity and you'll spend more then.😎

Actually…what is YOUR POINT… Why are you even looking at something you can NOT afford and commenting… then have the Audacity to comment and attempt to drag someone because you are BROKE. Shop within your means and budget and keep your abrasive day dreaming comments to yourself BUDDY. I can tell you are BROKE because you said you’re waiting for APPLE to PRICE DROP a MONITOR.. The Last ONE that was made which some people still own and use price never dropped and people used it for 10+ years… so Ill be nice and help you out… 6K display isn’t in your price range so this KUYCON G34W is a 5K 34” display.. and ill sum up the specs… This monitor is a 5K LG CORE panel that is only 500 nits vs 1600 nits the XDR has and one PERK is this Monitor has a HDMI input minus the Honey Comb back panel. I own both displays and have no Regrets.. I own the exact one this UA-cam content creator is displaying with the NANO texture and the adjustable stand.

Creatives should save money on the matte coating, matte coatings objectively deteriorate image quality. It's essentially a 'pro mist' filter applied permanently to your image. It raises black levels, it reduces sharpness, contrast and saturation.
There's a reason no phone, no tv and no macbook or high end laptop comes with a matte display coating.

I really liked it, but the TV-ness of it got old after a while. If it was a proper monitor I'd probably still be using it. Plus the size and 4K resolution made my setup a little bigger than I wanted since I needed to have it further away. Still a great option. Might go back and make a video on it.

I don't mean to make you feel bad about your purchase, and I'm happy that it works great for you.
This display is mostly for those people who are super rich and simply like the aesthetic, it is objectively a bad deal price wise, you can buy an m3 max macbook pro with 2tb of storage for this money and STILL have a display with better technology than this (albeit smaller.)
Or even you can buy an m3 max macbook pro with 1tb of storage and a 42 inch 4k 120hz LG OLED 10bit native display which blows this out of the water tech wise, so two better displays and a computer and you're still under budget of a new one of these and bang on with a used one.
