Lalah Hathaway is the legendary daughter of the late and legendary singer and songwriter Donny Hathaway . Snarky Puppy a group of the best jazz musicians in the world, this a live collaboration between the two. Amazing performance indeed! This song “ Something “ is an original song by Lalah that she released early in her career…

Correct reaction! 😀 Snarky Puppy is very unusual. They are an 'ensemble', with many members having their own musical careers. You're unlikely to see them _all_ on stage together. They have more members than are needed to perform any set, or tour. For example they have (at least) 3 drummers, and 3 percussionists. The large pool of musicians allows them to tour almost constantly while enabling members to have separate music careers, and a life. Vocalists are usually guests ('feat.').
Please consider reacting to British musician Jacob Collier:
Eg. _Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing - Jacob Collier_ ua-cam.com/video/pvKUttYs5ow/v-deo.html (6m:7s) went viral and Is one of the songs that got Collier noticed in 2013 (he was a teenager making these videos by himself at home). Through his early videos, Collier became known for his love of chords and harmony. He sang all the parts, played all the instruments, recorded and mixed the songs and videos.
80 times Grammy nominated (28 wins) Quincy Jones (eg. he produced "Thriller" and "Bad") saw Collier's "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing" cover, then asked his staff to 'go find that kid'. Collier thought the contact from Quincy Jones was a prank. Jones flew him to Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland) to meet. They've been working together ever-since.
Jacob Collier is the *_first_* British artist to win a Grammy for their first 4 albums (a song on each album, not album of the year).
Snarky Puppy collaborated with Jacob Collier on:
_Snarky Puppy feat. Jacob Collier & Big Ed Lee - "Don't You Know" (...)_ ua-cam.com/video/eqY3FaZmh-Y/v-deo.html (10m:28s)
In this Collier has a custom-built instrument, built at MIT for him, which allows him to sing chords. It's sitting on top of the piano. Big Ed Lee is playing the funkiest sousaphone. Warning, this is composed, but it sounds experimental.
    Best Wishes. ☮

    This is for @poolhallshark lol.
So glad you enjoyed it. It truly is “something” special! Next up recommendation…”Dirty Loops”. I recently discovered them and I’m OBSESSED. Same level of musicianship as Snarky but only 3 members. Jonah: vocals & keyboards, Henrik: Bass guitar & Aron: drums. Each ridiculously gifted with their instruments & Jonah’s voice is like no other. They truly are one of the best bands in the world yet like so many others haven’t got the exposure they deserve. Anyway, take care & Ty for the shoutout!!😊

Hi sweetie! Omg Omg Omg!! Ty Ty Ty for reacting to my suggestion!! Almost dropped my cup of tea when I saw you posted it lol. Lol. Yes. Snarky Puppy is the band. I told u all about them in my comment before u took some time off so I won’t go into all that again. Too long lol. Of course you can also look them up on your own. Generally they do instrumentals but also collaborate with singers from time to time. They & Lalah won a Grammy for this song. And yes. Lalah is insanely talented, the daughter of the late great Donny Hathaway, who is R&B royalty here in the States. So glad you enjoyed it. Was so much fun watching you in the beginning trying to figure out who was Lalah & who Snarky Puppy was. 😂 You’re a smart cookie tho & by the end you got it. Was that not the funkiest groove ever?? And when she sang 2 and then THREE cords at the same time?? Chile I lost it. Def not something you hear everyday or just anyone can do. She says she just discovered she could do it one day when she was 12 or 13. Seriously?? As if being able to sing/scat like she does wasn’t enough lol.
Speaking of long posts…I wrote you one last week in the Soil reaction u did that is ridiculously long, even for me. 😂 Pls check it out if you have the time. It has some things in there about another band that is ELITE, top 5% in the world imo. They’re called “Dirty Loops”. I also talk about your buddy Charlie Smith too.
As for your other posts, while I did The Soil’s song better this wk than last, they still just don’t do it for me. But your comments at the end took them up one notch in my mind. That’s what I soooo love about you. I’ll be feeling a certain way about a song & then your insightful thoughts open up my mind and make me see things differently. You’ll say something that never would have occurred to me & I LOVE that!!
Really liked Maoli. Always love slow jams & his voice is like birth. Also loved the lyrics as well. Whole song was smooth & sexy. Right down my alley.
Okay my love. You take care! Stay safe & have a wonderful week!! Muahhhh! Much 💜 from your American Memaw.
P.S. And like Hundhammer says: that instrument was a trumpet that has a mute on the end of it. A mute changes the instrument’s tone and/or lowers its volume.

A muted trumpet! Ahhhhh you guys must be right then! Yayyyyy! I don’t know why it sounded like a sax to me lol! Sounded incredible all the same 😍
Off course I had too and this did not disappoint! What a performance she is something else , they are something else it was just sheer perfection!
I loved it so thank you so much for suggesting! 🤍
I will see you tomorrow for more 😊
Ps I have just responded to your previous comment! Apologies it’s taken me so long to get round to responding x

Another great reaction to AJ. I always get anxious every Sunday waiting to see what song of AJ’s you are going to react to. I believe she sang Bohemian Rhapsody at the concert. You should check that out. Some other great songs she did at the concert were When We Were Young and One Moment in Time.

Way cool. This is GREAT musicianship, that's for sure. Not something I'd normally listen to, but definitely something I enjoy the crap out of when I do hear it. Though I do like funk and fusion and all that good stuff. Thanks @d.valenzuela3046 And thanks for your great reaction, Adrianna ♥♥♥♥♥
