Hiya, Thanks so much for your simple tutorials. Even thought I have Apple bits, I found the other method you described in your previous video - dialing into Zoom on my phone as a 'guest' better because you don't see all the phone screen stuff. You can "Pin" the phone video within Zoom if you want to make it the most visible element, then unpin when you want to go back to Host view. Best wishes and thanks again : )
Thank you! What a huge help. I'm teaching a cooking class on zoom and want to use my laptop for my main screen and iphone as my secondary screen. I'm so grateful!!!
This is a great tip, thank you. Is there is an option to allow the camera to go horizontal and not stay vertical. I am teaching online courses and need field of view to show two large white boards, or is there a camera that you would recommend. Thank you.
thank you so much for clear and easy instruction. I am an art teacher who is trying to carry out zoom art demo. your video was a great help. Thank you again.
Great tutorial. One problem: My screen share in Zoom will not rotate to landscape mode, even though it does on my iPhone. Any clues as to how I can get it to rotate inside Zoom?
@Watch Me Draw! Watch Me Sculpt I turned portrait orientation off and I'm still not getting my phone to switch to landscape mode in zoom. Are you sure that is the only setting you changed?
In the video it appears as though his remains in portrait mode as well which would not be great for showing a keyboard as he does. It doesn't work for my needs either and I just can't find a way to switch to horizontal. @@billantonucci606
Thank you so much for this! It was life changing! One question though - is there a way to not see all the camera settings while using the phone as a webcam?
This video is great! I've been trawling the net for days looking for a solution, and now I feel a lot closer to it thank you :-). I've been using my IpadPro to create my main Zoom meetings, and then logging in separately with my iphone to be able to shoot top down videos, similar to some of the other comments below. This has worked well EXCEPT that I can't seem to fix the auto focus on the iphone when in a live stream. I know it works perfectly in my iphone camera but it's just not available when linked into Zoom, it's very frustrating because my hands moving in and out of screen cause the iphone to keep refocusing and it's distracting. So now I know that if I can mirror screen rather than log in separately, I can use the camera on the phone and therefore fix the auto focus yay! However, if I go to my ipad, open Zoom and hit the 'share screen' option BEFORE I start a meeting, I get a 'sharing key' request. Am I supposed to be finding this key in the Zoom.us website rather than in the app? The one in my control panel on the website doesn't seem to be enough numbers for my ipadpro to accept.
Thanks! This might work as a workaround/temp fix for the problem that when I'm using my iPhone to video someone else (let's say "the talent") at work, in my test the landscape orientation works, but when others join the meeting the landscape orientation won't lock and the video ends up "sideways" unless I flip it to vertical, which doesn't work for some situations. That's frustrating because the phone camera is much higher res and easier to put on a tripod, say, than my laptop...
This is so much cleaner than logging in with both camera and computer. One question.... my cell phone camera kept timing out and going to sleep. What settling do I need to change ? Thanks for any help !!!
In the video it appears as though his remains in portrait mode which would not be great for showing a keyboard, etc. It isn't suitable for showing my desk either. I just can't find a way to switch to horizontal.
Thanks for your super helpful video! One problem, I'm not seeing the Share Screen > iPhone/iPad via Airplay option in Zoom on any of my devices. I've got the latest update but it isn't there. Any suggestions! Thank you!
I have apple products but dont have great wifi out in my studio. I use cable on my laptop and have really fast internet that way, too. But if I am not using wifi on my laptop, how can I use my iphone as a second camera?
Thank you for this. Just tested it and it also works to share an iphone from Zoom on a PC. Got landsape mode on PC no problem, but keys are backwards. Could maybe fix in settings. Wondering how this is better than a second login. When I log in to Zoom separately with my iPhone, my keyboard shows up as another participant window. Super easy to spotlight that window when showing students my keys. This way I have to share screen, pick up my phone to mirror it, put it back in the stand, orient it. Repeat every time I need to demonstrate something, And, using wifi, I'm not sure it would be less of a drain on my bandwidth.
Great questions. If you're using your phone as a second login, you'll still be using the same wifi, unless you're using your cellphone data which may come with added costs. I also have noticed that there is more lag when you use your phone as a second login as opposed to this method. You have to go with whatever works best for you, though!

Hi Max. Perhaps on a slightly different subject but not completely off it 😉. I need advice on setting up my technology for online lessons which would flow without any latency delay whatsoever. It is to enable to me to play/sing with my student in complete synchronicity. I am using Zoom or Skype for my lessons. I also plug in my iMac into the router with the ethernet cable. My average upload speed is 9 Mbps and download speed 37 Mbps, but there is a lag time in communication. Even though it's bearable to carry out a conversation, it is just impossible to play music together! Could you help? 🙏 Many thanks!
Thanks ... cant get my ipad to come up with trust this computer ( macpro) ... ipad hopefully to give a bigger picture than iphone camera for zoom lessons... help
Re switching between cameras - this function is not available for me on zoom (it is greyed out). Is this the same for others or just me? I am using a macbook pro and ipad. Anytime I want to switch back to face view (Macbook) from the camera behind (ipad), and then go back from that to 2nd camera I have to do it manually each time. Is this how it is for everyone else?
This will be very helpful for my Zoom guitar lessons if I can get it to work satisfactorily. My problem is the latency: even though my laptop and phone are on the same wifi network, and I am sitting about two metres from the router, the screen share from the phone has quite a lag behind the main picture and sound on the laptop. Do you know if there is any way to reduce this latency?
Hello at 5:36 I can see the option to share on iPhone/iPad but on my Zoom sharing screen I don't see this option (I own an iPad Pro 2019 + Macbook Pro 16 2019. I have checked that they share the same Wifi network too. Any clue? Thanks a lot
My entire phone, not just the screen, shows up on the computer. Is there any way to make just the screen of my phone show up? Also, my phone takes up a small part of my computer screen. Is there a way to enlarge the phone screen so it takes up more of my computer screen?
Hi Adrienne, I'm not sure what you mean by your entire phone. Can you describe the difference between what you mean by "entire phone" and "just the screen"?
@@Centremusic I suspect she is inadvertently mirroring her iPhone to Zoom on a Mac using either: 1) Quicktime Player (New Movie) or some webcam app such as IriunWebcam or Webcam+ or MultiCam, or 2) connecting her iPhone into Zoom via the share menu's "iPhone/iPad via Cable" or "iPhone/iPad via Airplay", both of which will bring in the entire iPhone screen, not just the camera's live image. Per the instructions in this video, she needs to run Zoom on her iPhone and join the meeting which has been set up on her Mac. Then it should work well. Needless to say, if later she wants to show participants what she's doing on her iPhone then she needs to share that iPhone screen, not bring it in as a separate participant. Also incidentily, when she is truly displaying her iPhone camera image (not the entire phone screen) using the Zoom iPhone app downloaded from the App Store, then she can expand the camera image on her Mac to take more of her computer screen by grabbing a corner and dragging it larger.
@@Centremusic I get what she is saying. It shows the whole iphone window including the camera controls rather than just the camera picture. I have an old phone, a 6S Plus, so maybe that is why.
Thanks for this wonderful video!! So Could I use this as my main camera instead of my macbook camera on the laptop as I am using a documant cam/video for my secondary view I own a sewing school so I am doing sewing classes on zoom now..lol well working to get them up since all this is happening..thanks for any help on this.I would LOVE to use my iphone as my main camera and then flip to my doc camera for the sewing machine views...
Hi sewgirlful, glad this helps! I think the short answer is yes. The long answer is that you’ll still need to use your laptop to start and host the meeting. In other words, you cannot start a meeting on your phone and then link to your laptop’s webcam. Think of your laptop as the control center or brain of your meetings. Zoom’s laptop/desktop software has way more powerful tools built into it compared to the mobile app. The most important being the screenshare function which you need to link your phone as a second camera. Once you do that, though you can click the switch button as indicated in the video to switch between your phone and laptop camera. I hope that helps. Good luck with your classes!
Thanks for this! This is a great feature. But when I do a screen share, participants are thrown into a full-screen viewing of the iPhone, and they don't see their grid view anymore. Is there a way to have the iPhone come in as simply another "participant"? The same way as if you were to join the meeting from the phone?
Check his other video which shows exactly that, Use Any Phone as a 2nd Camera in Zoom - UA-camwww.youtube.com › watch that's what I tried and works seamlessly. Wish I found this a month ago...
Hi! Thank you for this video. I teach the piano and I was able to use the “share” my iPhone on a zoom call BUT the keyboard is reversed (right hand/left hand switched and notes going in reverse up-down) Any suggestions on a fix for this?? Much appreciated.
@@createwithkelleypitts to reverse the screen: go to the button on your zoom screen that says "stop video." There is a ^ on this button. Tap this. Control page for video should now show. UNCHECK the "mirror my settings box" and that should switch the orientation on the screen. (I do this so math problems will read right!)
Hi Max, Once again thanks for this great video. I've updated to the latest software on my unpaid zoom. And I've tried your method. It worked! However, I have two questions and wonder if you could help me please. I teach piano. I have a set up where I use my iPhone as a camera attached to the mic stand. The mic stand is stretched to the maximum and hovers above the piano and my head like a huge crane! :D ... Anyway, even at that height it will just about frame my 88-key Yamaha. The reason it that I cannot really benefit from using the iPhone's wide angle camera nor the landscape orientation when using it with Zoom the way you described it. I don't understand why not? Am I doing something wrong? If I turn my iphone around by 90 degree and use it in a landscape, on my desktop in Zoom the viewer window is still showing the vertical orientation (portrait) and so the keyboard range is even narrower. That's my first issue. The other one is that the iphone keeps switching itself off, I mean the screen gets black. I wonder if there is a way of setting it in Settings not to 'go to sleep' (as they put it in the case of Apple computers)? Hope you can help me, for which I would be super grateful. :)
Hello again! The landscape thing is a curiosity to me. It worked for me no problem, but it seems some other folks here are experiencing the same problem as you. The phone switching itself off is easy to fix! How to keep your iPhone screen on: 1. Open Settings. 2. Tap "Display & Brightness." 3. Tap "Auto-Lock." 4. Choose the amount of time you want your screen to stay on after you last touch your iPhone. Your options are 30 Seconds, anywhere from one to five minutes, and Never.
Centre Music House brilliant! (regarding the auto lock). About the landscape - what do you do that it works for you that perhaps we are not doing? Could I tempt you to record another video for us all? 🤔☺️
Same problem... the shared video camera on my iPhone 10s is rotating on the phone but not on the shared Zoom screen. Portrait Orientation Lock is off. I noticed on your video that it auto rotates as you turn your phone. I've researched for hours trying to figure out why it's not working on my phone, and certain others. Any insight would be super helpful!
When I am using my camera app, the zoom screen will not turn to landscape to make it bigger. Is there some work around for this? It is just showing my stuff sideways on the computer.
Hi Katie! First, check to make sure that you have "Portrait Orientation Lock" turned off. Slide up your home screen and look for an icon that resembles a lock within an arrow. Second, when you enter the camera app, quickly rotate your phone 90 degrees into a landscape orientation. That should trigger the phone to recognize you want to shoot in landscape and it will reorient and resize the camera. I hope that helps!
Hi Katie, I'm sorry but I can't say why that might be happening. Is your Zoom software up to date? They just rolled out version 5. If you haven't updated recently, try that out. I hope that helps!
My Zoom doesn't show an iphone/ipad share option. Do you know why? I have the most updated version. They mention some plugin, but then no plugin offerred.
@@Centremusic MacBook Pro. I also found the plugin on their 'download center' page. Still doesn't show the option on zoom. I even restarted my Mac but still nothing has changed.
Hi Shanee, hmm that's really weird. I'm not sure why it doesn't even give you the option to share an iphone/ipad. My average upload speed is 9 Mbps and download speed 37 Mbps, but there is a lag time in communication. Even though it's bearable to carry out a conversation, it is just impossible to play music together! Could you help? 🙏 Many thanks!
There is a delay, is this normal? How to fit this? Tks!
Thanks ... cant get my ipad to come up with trust this computer ( macpro) ... ipad hopefully to give a bigger picture than iphone camera for zoom lessons...
Thank you; very helpful :^)
Yes, how do you get the camera controls off of the video shared screen?
Good luck with your classes!
good explanation but the background music was off putting just a bit to loud
Thanks for the feedback Patrick!
How do you get the iphone rotate when you turn it side ways?
I am teaching sewing lessons will this work for that. I need to be really close up on the sewing machine
How do I which to a video on my
iPhone durning a zoom meeting.
I want to start with an intro video I made?
How do I do that
What if I have an HP laptop and I want to use my Ipad camera as my second camera?? Would be the same process???
Thanks for this! This is a great feature. But when I do a screen share, participants are thrown into a full-screen viewing of the iPhone, and they don't see their grid view anymore. Is there a way to have the iPhone come in as simply another "participant"? The same way as if you were to join the meeting from the phone?
Check his other video which shows exactly that, Use Any Phone as a 2nd Camera in Zoom - UA-camwww.youtube.com › watch
that's what I tried and works seamlessly. Wish I found this a month ago...
Hi! Thank you for this video. I teach the piano and I was able to use the “share” my iPhone on a zoom call BUT the keyboard is reversed (right hand/left hand switched and notes going in reverse up-down)
Any suggestions on a fix for this??
Much appreciated.
I’m looking for this fix too
@@createwithkelleypitts to reverse the screen: go to the button on your zoom screen that says "stop video." There is a ^ on this button.
How to keep your iPhone screen on:
1. Open Settings.
2. Tap "Display & Brightness."
3. Tap "Auto-Lock."
Centre Music House the camera on my phone goes sideways, it is what is showing on the computer that won’t turn.
Hi Katie, I'm sorry but I can't say why that might be happening. Is your Zoom software up to date? They just rolled out version 5. If you haven't updated recently, try that out. I hope that helps!
Tnx mate :-)
My Zoom doesn't show an iphone/ipad share option. Do you know why? I have the most updated version. They mention some plugin, but then no plugin offerred.
Hi Shanee, what kind of device are you using when you host your meeting?
@@Centremusic MacBook Pro. I also found the plugin on their 'download center' page. Still doesn't show the option on zoom. I even restarted my Mac but still nothing has changed.
Hi Shanee, hmm that's really weird. I'm not sure why it doesn't even give you the option to share an iphone/ipad. Perhaps it's something related to your network firewalls? support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/203680359
Have you tried plugging your phone into your computer? support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201379235-iOS-Screen-Sharing-with-the-Zoom-Desktop-Client#wired
I wish I could be more helpful. This is a real mystery!
@@Centremusic thanks, saw this comment about firewall too, but my computer knowledge has reached its limit here, they don't guide you where to go or how to do this exactly, so I have no clue how to check nor change this. And yes I tried already plugging both iPad and iPhone but nothing came up...
@@shaneebeery When you first open zoom on your phone, before starting or joining a meeting, do you see a button next to schedule that says "Share Screen?"
Great video! Thanks a lot
Excellent... thank you!
