    An electrified G80 was my very first electric vehicle experience, during a last minute rental upgrade in LA about a year ago. We did the same frantic circle around the vehicle a couple times until we realized where the charge port was - only thanks to my wife who had to Google it. So sneaky!

    Great review - but the Model Y is not even remotely in the same class as the GV70. If we're looking at a "standard" or "premium" EVs instead of Luxury, which are much cheaper, there are other options, including directly from Hyundai/Kia. And they too all have more range.

    • @TimSmith-db1iu

      I agree 100%. I have a GV70 prestige, and I owned a Model Y and it's a different animal. The Model Y is more of an appliance. The GV70 feels ultra premium compared to the Y. I do believe the the Y is probably are "better", or more advanced car in the design. Tesla has always been ahead all the other manufactures as far as technology, but I feel in the next years that will change due to Tesla's open designs.

    The Prestige package also adds other things which may be important to some buyers: heated steering wheel, HUD, Nappa leather, active noise canceling, and rear side window shades. Also of note is that for the U.S. market, this car is made in the U.S., but currently does not meet content standards for the tax rebate, though that may still apply to a lease.

      When starting the car, I believe it wants at least one full stop to ensure the brakes are working. My Ioniq won't let me enable Auto Hold, until I do so. I imagine the same applies for i-Pedal

    Being a 4 time Hyundai owner, Genesis has really come a long way in a short time. In terms of EV comparison, Genesis is the King of luxury EV’S. I was almost sold on leasing a Model Y ( Juniper) in late fall, but now I’m not so sure. I’m going to test drive the GV70 before deciding.

    As of April 2024,Genesis has a 13 month lease this month for the ELECTRIFIED models. Per Genesis offers website, Advanced trim of the gv70 Ev is 499/ month, 3999 down for 10k miles. 😮 I got 9500 cash back ("EV Lease Bonus") for the 13 months gv70 lease, now there is a 17500 cash back for the 36 month gv70 lease, cutting down another 100 LESS monthly compared to what I got.
    The Gv60 advanced is 469, gv60 Rwd is 379 (same 3999 down) but only max 11000 EV Lease Bonus from Genesis.
    .....OR ...
    .... Wait 1 year and you can get 10 % increase in battery capacity and EV range without any increase in weight in the gv60, gv70 or IONIQ5.

    Let me preface this by saying I've never been in an accident in my seven years of driving. But does it really matter if you can't see over your shoulder because of the C Pillar? Does anyone really do that? I use my mirrors and back up camera. Plus a car like this comes with blind spot warnings.
    Funny review as always though. Enjoyed it. I look forward to this every Sunday.

    right now the used market on EV's is tragic, so if you want one of these, wait till winter in the north east, and buy it there, it will be way less expensive.. saw a model 3 for 16k a month ago.. which is brutal.

  • @thestonetable
    @thestonetable 3 місяці тому +3

    Great! However, does the car do well in very cold weather. That’s the only way I can buy an electric car. My 2019 Ford Edge has a range of almost 400 miles. I think I would just get the gas version of this car… if I could afford it. 😊 Genesis does make a beautiful car.

    • @th003g
      @th003g 3 місяці тому +5

      Have you ever gone 400 miles in your car without stopping for gas or bathroom or food? This max range comparison doesn't make sense because people almost never go from full to empty without stopping for any reason. A more realistic driving range is 2-3 hours of driving and stop for a break. Which can be done in most current EVs.

    • @thestonetable
      @thestonetable 3 місяці тому +1

      @@th003g actually, I do drive about 350 miles, if not more, without gassing up again. Also, the cold weather doesn’t effect my range, so for those two reasons, I can’t buy any kind of electric vehicle. Also, where I live there aren’t many charging stations and since I have a very medically fragile child (He has SMA type 1, like Lou Gehrig’s disease) I can’t wait to charge a car if his oxygen is depleting. Electric vehicles are great, if you have a regular life. Unfortunately, we don’t. They just aren’t practical if you constantly have a potential emergency 24 hours a day. I appreciate the input, though. Stay safe.

    • @th003g
      @th003g 3 місяці тому +3

      @thestonetable 350 miles nonstop, no breaks? Cold weather affects everyone's range, you just don't feel it as much due to the availability of gas stations.

    • @thestonetable
      @thestonetable 3 місяці тому +1

      @@th003g I live 320 miles from the nearest hospital, so yes… I usually go 350 or more without a break cause time sometimes is essential. If I had an electric car in the cold, that range of 230, or a bit more, would not be sufficient to get my son help while my wife is working on him to keep him going in the back. We are looking to move, but prices these days, near the hospital are astronomical. So, we are thinking of trading in our car for something that has more range. Maybe a crew cab truck with over 400 miles range. We can’t afford to cut it close in case of a blizzard. That happen to us once. It was a bit dicey, to say the least.

    • @fortniteharambe
      @fortniteharambe 3 місяці тому +2

      @@thestonetable I'm an EV proponent, for people who can level 2 charge at home, and have use cases nothing like your exceptional situation. For you, I wouldn't recommend any EV with less than 700 miles of range, which basically means none of them. Tune in again in 5 years. Meanwhile, there's a nice 2.5T gas version of the GV70. But if you're that far from a hospital, a Genesis dealer is likely no closer, so service could also be problematic.

      Hey, Jamie. I appreciate the kind way you posed your comment. For background, I've reviewed cars on-camera for the past 17 years. Along the way I've had the opportunity to build car control skills in varied disciplines with top notch training in ice driving, rally, stunt driving, track racing, etc.
      Car control is one thing but communicating while driving is a separate special skill I've also honed through focused training and experience. Doing so with my family in the car is a responsibility I take seriously. To be clear, when you watch our videos you're only seeing the parts where I feel comfortable speaking. When the driving environment demands it, we pause our reviews. But that's the stuff that gets edited out.

    • @stephendyson1936
      @stephendyson1936 Місяць тому +1

      Don’t know where you live but the range could be much better in warmer climates. We have a GV70 EV and we live in Canada. Our climate would be similar to Michigan and so far we have averaged 3.22 miles per kWh which gives an average range of 249 miles. This is after 10 months and a full winter of driving. Summer time driving is very close to 300 miles of range . It all depends on your driving style. Genesis is very humble on their range but I think it’s much better than you might expect. A luxurious gem.
