I love the looks. If the IONQ 6 had a hatchback instead of a trunk, I'd consider buying one.
I mean the Ioniq 5 exists, no point of making the 6 a hatchback
Never buy am EV, always lease. (Pro-tip)
I love the looks…these really are distinctive on the road. But as a Honda Clarity owner for the last 6 years, and a previous owner of a Ridgeline, Element, and WRX…I clearly gravitate to weird cars 😅
Hooray for polarizing designs!
How's the Clarity? Particularly with reliabilty?
@@tlf361 my 2018 Clarity has been flawless. Seriously one of the best cars I’ve ever owned. Oil change and tire rotation once a year…other fluids just got changed out last month (brake and transmission fluid swap)…one set of tires. That’s it for the last 6 years. I average 35miles EV (sometimes 40, sometimes 30) and routinely average 1000 or more miles between fill ups. (Sorry for hijacking this thread 😅)
looks like a VW beetle got trapped in a large taffy pulling machine
I am now confident that Hyundai Kia and Genesis have stepped up their game a lot lately.
Attractive cars with lots of features and trash quality.
Still trash and horrible dealer network.Id rather drive a bus over a hyundai
@@bradyb9929I've heard people say that their quality has improved.
Love cars, your videos, and your family. Thanks for making these vids!
4 dots on the steering wheel is Morse Code for the letter H = Hyundai
Micah probably knows this but it’s new to me. Fun fact!
Big news
One of these drives through my neighborhood.
Its the same shape but dont know if its the same model.
Its very quiet and sleek looking....makes a futuristic sound on acceleration.
Always enjoy your reviews...I wish you continued success this year.
Excellent video and review!😸
Great review my favorite family...👍🏻
Someone said this car looks like a dog scooting its butt on the floor and I can't unsee it 😂
And now I can't unsee it.
No, that was the old Chrysler Crossfire.
😂😂😂
I love it, my other half despises it. As far as World Car of the Year goes, its a bold design, has great range and isnt too expensive. In my opinion, its deserving of the win. If anything, I would include the IONIC 5 and IONIC 6 as receivers of the award.
I love it! 😍 reminds me of the 2000 elantra my mom had!
I love the look of the Ioniq line! Ioniq 6 and Ioniq 5 are a great his and hers!!
I’ve had mine for 3 weeks. I love it. Had an Infiniti q50 before. EV takes some getting used to. But this one, fast charging, awesome speed, drove in the ❄️ with 0 problems! The tech is amazing too. Dealership….only down fall
I do really like what Hyundai are doing with their design, starting with Veloster probably. As far as I understood the base for 5 and 6 is the same and they slapped a different body on it. I think 5 is better, if I remember correctly it is lighter and yeah the slant on 6 is cool, but where did the space go. Overall i think 6 makes a nice daily if you don't have family things to do. The look reminds me of that sleep Porsche line, but fewer pixel details on the front would probably do the style some good.
Edit: Just saw an ad for KIA Ev6 GT, very similar feeling front, but a hatch back. Now that I can get behind.
Really like the look. Reminds me of the Infiniti J30.
Haha same here, bud, I thought I was the only one that saw Infiniti J30 and not just Porsche 911. Have you seen the Hyundai Prophecy concept, though? That’s what this car is based off, looks waaaaaay cleaner -obviously.
Just said the same thing. Definitely does.
It looks weird, but then I realized that the rear looks like a 911 to me, which makes it look less weird and more cool to me. 😎
Yeah, looks are very very subjective… my first thoughts were that what we have here is a Merc CLS & Porsche Pananera got their freak on
Mercedes CLS side profile with Porsche Panamera rear.
Like someone asked What would a 80's Citroen DS look like in 40 years. Yah, I can't unsee it.
I watch a lot of these videos and yours really stand for providing a succinct yet complete summary. I am looking now...how would stack rank this, the Model 3 Hiland and the Mach E? I'm in Canada and all 3 qualify for a $5,000 government rebate. Also, did Hyundai miss the opportunity to make this a "first in class" 2 door EV hatchback? Cheers...Jim
We have the SEL awd and love it so far
Science of Sleep is definitely less "family friendly" than Eternal Sunshine 😄

I just wish that Hyundai had called the car a Streamliner. Or, at the very least, I hope that'll be the name of a luxury trim option.
Trust me. The center window controls will stop working the first time a drink gets spilled on the switches. I have an older Volvo as a daily, with the same center control layout. I had a small coffee spill on the switches. 3 of them stopped working. I had to remove a section of the center console and replace the entire switch unit. Not tough, but about 2 hours of work over a spilled drink.
That’s something I hadn’t considered. Thank you for sharing! 👏🏻
@@EviedishOh! It’s you! I was keep looking for Micah’s comments because under some of the comments, it has his little icon indicating he replied to a comment but couldn’t find him. Then I saw you!
Love the Ionic 6. The only thing I don't like is the price.
Like everything in life. 😂
Price is down quite a bit on these now. $7,500 off on ‘24’s and $12,500 off on ‘23’s, in some cases. There is a stop sale on ‘23’s right now due to a recall, so my dealer is selling me a ‘24 for the cost of a ‘23.
Dealers are pushing these out the door for around $35k.
@@Marcus_Wulfhartfor an SEL AWD?
Love it, except the rear 1/4. Hyundai has one hit after another. I'm a sedan fan, but would go with the IONIQ 5. Oh No! Kiddo mastered the ironic clap. Eye-rolls around the corner.
Love Hyundai kia and Subaru vehicles
Do you guys have any other personal cars other than the Bronco? If so, what are they?
One of my favorite ev but I’m not ready to make that jump. I feel hybrids should be being pushed instead of fully electric vehicles
toyota feels that too!
So, they can sell you a hybrid today, and an ev in five years
@@USUG0 too bad you'll have to spend about 5 years on a wait-list to buy one of their hybrids currently. 😜
Hybrids are not emission friendly, I'm unsure why the push by manufacturers!!!
Lovely video, for the car I am just worried about replacing the battery for $60k
Ribs & Pixels. I’d eat there!
One correction: Tesla Model 3 is no longer eligible for the $7500 tax incentive as of 2024 (other than the performance model).
This looks like an updated 1990s Infiniti J30, even down to the design of the wheels on this one. I didn’t like the J30 back then, and I don’t like it now with Hyundai’s interpretation either 🤮. Excellent review though!
Side note, the car seat latch points are also hidden in my car and I immediately thought about your segment when Evie explains whether or not it’s easy to install a car seat 😂.
I like it and have driven one. I wanted the seat to adjust a bit higher but I am weird that way :-)
does it's quiet and comfortable
Concur that the Ioniq 5 is the obviously better option, or a base Model 3 for the tax credit. They removed so much practicality, why not go all the way and make it a 2 door GT instead?
I really like the Ioniq 6, but then I did buy the first generation Audi TT and I see a lot of that car in the Ioniq 6. The two things I think would make the Ionig 6 into a real market winner would be cleaning up that rear and making it a lift back instead of having a trunk.
they just lowered the price by four grand... now it starts at $37,000
Thing with the phone charger is that it can't hold the phone for the high acceleration the car provides. If you floor it, your head goes into the seat and your phone goes flying around the cabin.
Needs to be a hatchback and the plastic by the doors seemed a little loose for my liking
Was able to fit just one large suitcase in the trunk. It did have more room for other things but 😬
I want an EV sedan, but this one is a miss, because it looks too much like a smoothed out Merkur XR4Ti, which I thought was goofy looking back in the day.
The Ioniq 5 N looks a very cool EV, will they do an Ioniq 6 N?
It kind of reminds me of a Citroën.
I was thinking Audi TT but yeah this has an oddly Frankish vibe.
It's neat but don't straddle road hazards that could hit the battery cover. A couple of Ionic 5's got written off in Canada in the last couple of months. The replacement battery costs more than the new car.
It looks a bit strange if I wanted to buy an EV at the moment I would go for a Fisker Ocean. So cool.
Do i need a fancy charger for this?
It's got enough of a porsche look both in the front and back that I like it a lot, but then I've always liked porsches
His daughter is such a big girl now🤩
The rear-end reminds me of an old Infiniti J30.
The IONIC 6...ribbed for her... i need Jesus. Anywho, it looks like an 80s Merkur XR4ti mated with a Mercedes CLA, but then someone bought the bumpers from a dump truck. The Kia EV6 makes much more sense, and is just as senseless compared to a Tesla with chargers that work. You guys are wonderful as always. Has anyone every calculated either the percentage of videos where Sweetie has a beanie or how many she has? 🙂
I've had no problem with Electrify America or charging overnight at home. The rear reminds me of a Porsche 911, I have had several individuals mention that to me!!! And it is not a Tesla, it is a great looking vehicle!!
@@amspcut I'm glad you haven't had trouble - but I've read so many accounts of "there were 4 charger, and 1 worked but wouldn't take my credit card" that I'd never take a chance. I hope you enjoy your car though.
Can't wait to pick this up for 20k in about 3 years 😂
You'd better do.
I miss the information explosion!
While I am sure you have a budget for these videos, I was wondering when your kid will be upgraded from subtitles to her own microphone?
I REALLY hate those wings on the dash. Just remove them for the North American market, at least until the gov. allows the cameras.
What a fun and nice channel❤️
Instans sub❤️
Thanks so much, Peter. Cheers!!
I really like the Ionic 6. If I could justify buying a 3rd EV, I think that would be it. Thx for the vid. I enjoyed watching.
Clever, innovative, unique, nice vehicle. the Ioniq 5 is an option for those who want more practicality. This car is a nice vehicle for families or an individual with a garage and more than one car, especially if the other vehicle is an SUV.
hyundai is great car
Ioniq 5 needs to take a page out of this interior storage.
Motormouth channel just did a video on how a guy in Canada was asked to pay $60K (Canadian) when his car got "damaged" by debris on the road which might have damaged his battery. Insurance wrote off the car, but driver was noted as at fault and lead to ~50% insurance increase since he didn't have clean driver's record anymore. I love Micah and family videos, but battery replacement costs are a key things that reviewers need to cover on EVs going forward.
This. I won't buy another EV until batteries become universal, easily replaceable, and inexpensive.
That was the dealer ripping the guy off. Hyundai Canada has now changed their policy that any similar cases cannot be quoted by a dealer and are handled by Hyundai Corporate. Zach from Motormouth is also anti-EV biased and I'm sure they loved all the clicks that their sensationalism generated.
@@llaughridgeNope. There was more than just the one. Multiple cases. Add to that the 1 year wait that others have, and continue to wait for the replacement battery packs in Canada.
@@llaughridge I don’t think this is true. Please look at Motormouth’s video. Hyundai Canada tried to even get him to buy another car at discount after insurance totaled the car. This is a bad PR for them.
The name sounds like an old '80s cartoon.
Just make sure you don't hit any road debris if you don't want a $50K bill from Hyundai.
Micah And Arthur Morgan
I dont like the long black line beneath he headlights. I would rather it be like tesla smooth and monolithic.
Looks horrible. The non us market version actually makes the window corners better.
The 4 dots is morse code for the letter H
Big news.Again.
So... The Korean version of the VW Beetle? If you squint, you'll understand...
forget the pine cones, is there enough ground clearance for problematic squirrels?
Correction: M3 has no tax rebate!
Thanks for bringing it up. You're mostly right but it depends on the trim. Tesla Model 3 Performance is still eligible, provided the MSRP lands under $55k.
So much to love about the novelty of this design. Sad to say it loses me with the details. I wish the front and the butt were smoother and less frilly. Quite a bit going on and not in a good way. Imagine if the details were finessed by Mazda? The beauty is in the details not just the effort.
❤
Looks like a 1975 Buick Skyhawk.
That terrible rear headroom is a deal breaker. The styling is cool otherwise
With a sunroof, yes. Without, no.
$45k. That what a car costs these days? Jumpin jalopy! Guess I'll keep killing the planet for my kids....
This car won't age well, in my opinion. It's not really nice looking now and in a few years it's going to be downright ugly.
Lease only
I love this ugly car, and if it was a hatchback, I would buy it.
I now cant unsee the $60,000 required to fix a damaged battery. I know I will get a lot of downvote for bashing EVs, but economically this is not ready for the average American relying on reliable form of transportation. I still will recommend hybrids to everyone I know.
I was about to comment on that. Hyundai has to solve that overcharging issue for just batteries.
@@JoseDiaz-qw7mgthat seems to be a one off issue with a Hyundai dealer in Canada and Canadian insurance. To me it looks like the insurance company just wanted a number that would justify totaling the car, and they got back something absurd.
Under no circumstances would anyone be expected to pay $60k out of pocket. The battery has a 8 year/100k warranty for non-collision type issues.
EVs are very easy to recommend as affordable options, clickbait outliers or no.
@@santiagohills3997 I wish that were true. Unfortunately that is absolutely not the case.
@@theMLBfanPlease enlighten all of us.
To replace the battery cost $60,000 and the car self cost $6000 is a deterrent to buy the car from the beginning
Stupidest car I’ve ever driven, and that’s coming from an EV enthusiast and lover. The window switches in the middle for no reason, the absolute TINY trunk, and the sort of rough ride make this car an absolute head scratcher. Why would you ever buy this car over the Ioniq 5?
I am a Hyundai and Kia fan and have several of them. This is an ugly car! Sorry!
It wont get in your garage, anyway.
Bought one of these and ended up being a lemon. Complete nightmare. Would not recommend this car nor company
