@SnappyNick Right, if Snoke was just a mouthpiece for Palpatine then all inspiration for the First Orders activities would ultimately stem from him - maybe even armor design.

I think Palpatine would have used the Final Order/Sith Fleet to replace the First Order. From Palpatine's first lines in ROS it's safe to assume he intended for them to be a means to an end.

I think the Sith-Eternal, just like the First Order, took in little children and trained them into the Sith-troopers, pilots for the TIE-daggers and the bridge-crew of the Xyston-Star Destroyers. The First Order then filled up the remaining crews for the Star Destroyers (thanks to automation only 30.000 are needed for every Xyston).
This fillup is why the Supreme Council thinks they have to step up recruitment.

This is how I see it but I could be wrong:
      1. Imperials lose at Jakku and flee to the unknown regions.
      2. Palpatine starts construction of two separate fleets, kidnapping and indoctrinating children for both.
      3. Two fleets are created at the same time: the first order and the final order. They are not aware of each other's existence.
      4. When the fleets are ready, Palpatine sends out the first order fleet (with his puppet leader Snoke in charge) to weaken the Resistance and New Republic.
      5. Once the Resistance is weakened, Palpatine planned to send out the final order to destroy most inhabited planets in the galaxy.
To me this makes the most sense. I wish the movie had explained it a little better and not rushed through everything so quickly.

How do you think Ben got to Exegol at the end with that old TIE fighter since it doesn’t have a hyperdrive? Probably JJ just wanted to see a classic X-wing and TIE next to each other, but the story group must have thought about how it could work. Also he didn’t have the wayfinder anymore and how did that TIE even survive in the wreckage of the second Death Star? 😀

If Palpatine made Snoke, he was running things from the shadows, so it would be easy for Snoke to provide the designs for FO troop and other gear.
The real question isn’t why how did Final Order get FO gear; it’s why did they base their “JJ needed a” super weapons on an up scaled version of the ISD instead of one of the newer improved star destroyer designs from the FO... or if they wanted the Imp aesthetic (cause JJ also needs nostalgia), at least base it on an ISD2... and actually make it bigger, don’t just use the same model, hot glue a gun to it and say it is 1.5 times bigger.

I think palpatine's original plan since the beginning is to form a Sith empire like it was during the Old Republic era. So he form the Empire and build Death star to announce the return of the Sith. But then Luke destroy the death star so he have to kill luke @ the last jedi. For the next 4 years he try to stop rebellion and Luke but get killed.
So when he return he create Snoke to form a new goverment and when his Sith fleet is ready he announce arrival of Sith to the entire Galaxy.

If it was next to impossible to make it to Exegol, how were there hundreds of Star Destroyers and tens of thousands of Final Order military there? Where were all the Star Destroyers built? Where did the raw materials for the star destroyers come from? Where did the personnel come from? Are they all clones? A project of that size would have a logistical footprint much larger than a remote and inaccessible planet. When the fleet first flash on the screen, I thought it was a vision. When I realized they were real, it shattered my immersion in the movie.

In ROTJ, Anakin successfully killed Palpatine. In between ROTJ and TROS, Sith Loyaltists from the Unknown Regions potentially brought him back to the planet Exogal, hoping to ressurect his life. In The Rise of Skywalker, Palpatine is clinging between life and death and nearly comes back to life once he drains Ben and Rey, but just like Mace Windu did, Rey sent the lightning back to him and he was put down once and for all(potentially).
