Sounds like the republic as it exists in the prequel era hasn't been around terribly long. The high republic could've been a precursor government of some kind, until the galactic republic was formed.
The galactic republic is different from the old republic, the galactic republic was formed with the ruusan reformation (which happened roughly a thousand years before the phantom menace), it reorganized and demilitarized the republic after the “defeat” of the south
I really hope we see some real conflict within the Jedi Order, like some Jedi are like Qui-Gon was and Obi in the OT where they are the hero Jedi, the noble Jedi, and others are beurocratic and out of touch like the prequel Jedi, that way we get some foreshadowing of the Jedi’s failures in the prequels, but still get a noble and idealized Jedi order. I’d also love to see some divergent Jedi ideologies, like some put more focus on the living force, while others think the cosmic force is more important.

@@nyanarchy Yes, we need another SW RPG. Unfortunately, action-adventure games have largely replaced RPGs and it is unlikely they will move away from that style of game. Either way, to have a video game introduce us to a story and characters that will tie in to a future feature film would be fantastic.
The idea of following Jedi and their allies as they explore the galaxy in service to greater understanding, safeguarding things connected to the Force and being peacekeepers wherever they touch ground would be very cool. There's the opportunity to show more adventurous Jedi with a slightly different culture & demeanor than those of the Prequel Era. Hopefully we'll see them meet other kinds of Forcewielders too, like the Nightsisters or the Zeffo. The High Republic can literally be an era dedicated to worldbuilding without fear of connecting the dots.
I can't wait for Project Luminous. I'm loving the thought of the High Republic and new characters. It's going to be amazing! Keep up the great work! Love watching Star Wars Explained. You two are a great source of information and analysis.
So Yoda would likely still be around. Cool. It would be interesting to see him interacting with a likely very different Jedi Council than what we've seen. Maybe one that isn't quite as complacent.
Since their saying this is the time when the Jedi was expanding dramatically. I hope the council is divided in how the Jedi should be and by the end of the high republic something happens that force the Jedi to become this complacent group. Maybe they get too involved in something

Me and my friends were talking about the whole new era idea when we cam up with the idea of a rule of two show where each season is a new sith lord and their aprentance leading all the way up to palagues getting found by his master.
I'm honestly so excited for this "new phase". They had to test the waters first and now that they have a solid plan and a lot of talent making up the lore for this new era of SW makes me hopeful. Just knowing that we'll probably get Jedi who are actual peacekeepers makes me smile and getting all new characters that we can fall in love with and spend a lot of time with is truly what Disney SW needs right now. I think the books and comics are going to set up a cohesive part of the lore making headway for the movies and games to jump into so everybody gets familiar with this new timeline. It sounds like something they probably figured out and are like; "yeah, we should have done that from the start. But hey let's finish the Skywalker saga real quick and hope we can keep people on board for our "actual" plan."
The main thing I want to see is an aesthetic language around the tech and costuming that conveys a sense of history. I thought the Old Republic video games, cool as they were, didn’t do a great job of that. It was too similar to Skywalker Saga stuff. “The past is a foreign country,” as the historians tell us. This “High Republic” era needs to feel like it could evolve into the Late Republic/Imperial/New Republic era, but very distinct from it at the same time.
The only way I can see the Sith being involved is if they manipulate a conflict to weaken the Republic and Jedi Order (similar to stuff like the Yinchorri crisis from Legends). Also I want to see an anthology of stories about Rule of Two Sith based from the point of view of Luke or a Jedi historian from his academy (before it was destroyed) as they find clues linking each Sith to their master, Sidious to Plagueis, Plagueis to Tenobrous, etc all the way to Darth Bane.
Having a movie series of the Knights of the Old Republic esque idea during the High Republic is actually a cool idea. Even the Bane Trilogy of books danced around with having the Rule of Two sith having to remain in hiding with Jedi always hunting them down. If anything I notice that it might be good to have a series that focuses on the antagonists trying to survive rather than just "We are here and bad" sort of thing. The Mandalorian series was all about new characters and it did well. Having a series with new characters can work.
Even tho you made good points about coming up with new conflicts besides just Jedi vs. Sith, and I agree with that sentiment, the first thing that comes to my mind in this time period is learning more about the Banite lineage between Zannah and Tenebrous
Yeah this sounds great. I would love to see middle aged Jedi Knight Yoda be one of the characters but not one of THE characters. Maz would be cool too. I like using stuff we know as an anchor but yes, mostly new please!

I think the High Republic is a great idea to tie Old republic up to the Skywalker era period main movies while learning how everything evolved throughout the Star Wars Universe
Yes, I have been wanting something new for a while. I am glad the Skywalker saga is complete, at least in theory. It was good for what it was, but I am ready for new story lines.
I look forward to the High Republic Era. Exploring the Unknown Regions will be exciting and new. I'm hoping throughout Project Luminous we encounter Dark Side users, hints of the Ancient Sith, some Rakata related story line and get characters that are well developed and likable.

Great video...yet again and I'm always watching so its a good thing I get notifications of your channel. Thank you Ok. That said, it catered to new fans more than anything in my eyes. But... We should not give up on Lucasfilms or disney for that matter because they have recently put out some very cool material, as well as indicated we may see more what with The Mandalorian, The Obi-wan series ( if it gets off the ground), and TCW series with a nice finish. I'm excited for sure, I love the idea of exploring new time periods, places, and characters, but I'm also worried that if this is successful, the beancounters will decide to write off the entire Skywalker Saga as a "failed experiment" and make Star Wars all-new, all the time. And as a result, we'll never get to learn what happens after the Sequel trilogy because "there's no money in it", and we'll just cease to get any more stories set during the "main" Prequel/OT/ST era (leaving any existing ones hanging and unfinished to focus solely on High Republic). Legends juggled multiple eras at a time, surely Canon can do the same with their infinite money.
It could be... but I doubt it. While there were stumbles, each movie in the Skywalker Saga still made a billion dollars at least and were successes. The only movie that I'd say had genuinely failed was Solo. Other than that, Star Wars did very well.
the high republic era sounds interesting, and i am hoping for like a show or movie from a Sith's perspective possibly done in a similar vein to Winter Solider ie a spy flic or show where you get to see someone other then Sheev being a badass manipulative strategist
Could you also discuss the rumor of Disney bringing back the Old Republic stories? I hear they’re making a movie and a TV show based on those beloved video games.
I hope they do some type of visual media for the High Republic. I want to see it as a show on Disney + or a movie in theatres. When something is just in the books (novels), I miss a lot because I just don’t read or listen to all of them. I might do one a year. So a series of books would disappoint me as a fan, if that were all the High Republic was in. They have to do something visual.
Man I'm so sorry but I couldn't stop laughing when the video started and you had that effect over you. Thank you for the video though, nice and informative
I still want to see a Jedi Order under Satele Shan, and I really want to see Tyhton (which is already canon). They can easily tell so many stories in the Old Republic, it could be more than just one trilogy.
I hope they go for the movies and video games in addition to the books and comics. Just having a whole new era to play with would be great. I don't even want them to necessarily cover the same characters or time period either.
It would make sense if Project Luminous is about the High Republic, because “luminous” means “bright and shining,” which may refer to the Jedi’s spread throughout the galaxy during this time
I reckon that the Sith will still feature in some way. I'd like it if they were hiding out on Exegol, influencing events using an earlier form of the Sith Eternal cult! It would help explain the stuff going on with Darth Sidious in Episode IX and link Project Luminous to the Skywalker Saga without impacting anything at all.
I think this will be good for fans, new things gives less of a basis and expectation from fans, they can't complain because it is not as good as the last because it is new
I would love to maybe something like the first contact with Kamino (or some other planet/species) and it would definitely need a few stories told from the Sith point of view, they had to have been doing SOMETHING, right?
I’m honestly fine with the comics and novels for now. The movies don’t really concern me that much anymore, as well as the tv shows, but can’t wait for the clone wars season 7 next month!
Honestly I think Disney should have done this from the get-go. The Sequel Trilogy's biggest handicap was re-opening a completed story and thus diminishing the achievements and arcs of the Legacy characters. If they'd left the Skywalker saga be and just focused on telling new stories (and the odd complementary piece, like Rogue One), there'd be far less ill feeling within the fanbase right now.
When you talk about the "Rule of Two" I've wonder has there been a story about a force user, non Jedi or non sith, reading about the sith & the "Rule of Two" and starting their own “Rule of Two”? If the sith are secret how would the non sith now which are the correct ones?
Another possible tie-in to Project Luminous: WhatCulture Gaming today dropped a vid on the news that EA is rebooting KOTOR to make it more align with the new canon. All I know is that I'm here for us to be blessed with the new CG movies that is sure to drop! 😆
I’m excited for this new era. I hope it is similar to the clone wars era but just 400 years before it. I also hope we get to see Yoda 400 years younger than we’ve seen him before and I hope he is a big part of the story.
The concept of the High Republic era seems interesting to me. However i do hope Disney doesnt Marvelize Star Wars too much. Star Wars is its own unique thing, just because a certain strategy works for Marvel doesnt mean it will work for Star Wars. Too much content in a small period of time with a decrease in quality is what i am most fearfull off. Then again after Solo A Star Wars story dropping so soon after TLJ, i think Disney already adjusted their strategy. These are all just rumors tho, so for now its just speculation. And this is based on what i personally would like to see, im sure others could view it differently. I just dont want Disney to see Star Wars as " one of their projects". And if Marvel does better than Star Wars, just copy that strategy for Star Wars. Im not saying thats what their currently doing. I just hope it doesnt go in that direction.
Christian, the Grysk do share a lot of similar physical characteristics with the Vong, specifically the way that their skin is pulled tightly over their skulls to give them an almost undead appearance. They do however have completely different strategies and a vastly different motivation from the Vong, so we can always hope.
William Sander to be honest. I actually didn’t like the vong stuff and hope they don’t come back 😂 sorry to shatter any vong lovers. Couldn’t get behind orcs and fungus space ships. I’m fine with gyrsk.
Christian, oh no don’t get me wrong, I love the concept of the Grysk and legitimately hope that they become a major threat, but the Vong were practically as ubiquitous with Star Wars as lightsabers were for quite a while and I think it would be nice for cannon to at least acknowledge them even if it was just a small mention.
love the hologram.. but u gotta drop the mic in the hand bro!! ... just get your audio with a boom .. or tape that thing to a stick and have molly hold it over your head. lol ... holograms don't need a mic in the cannon!
I believe the High Republic Era is the same time period as The Great Peace which is when the Jedi were ascending into politics by helping the Republic construct and reform into the Galactic Republic while, strengthen their numbers. I believe the Dark Age will be mentioned in this era since the events from that time period caused the formation of the Rule of Two and the Galactic Republic. The Dark Age was the time period of the Jedi-Mandalorian War and the Sith-Jedi War. This is also known as the Fall of the Old Republic. The High Republic era is only 300-400 years before TPM so the Galactic Republic may be formed already or close to it. With these facts, we know that any Sith from the Rule of Two will be alive during this time period, but will not have a major role in the Republic until Darth Plagueis and Darth Sidious. We also know that there was a Mandalorian Civil War occuring along with the Stark Hyperspace War (this may be closer to the events of TPM because we know that the Mandalorian Civil War ends with Qui-Gonn and Obi-Wan helping Satine reform Mandalore into the pacifist government we see in The Clone Wars). Knowing this, we will most likely see how the constant wars during the Dark Age affected the rest of the galaxy throughout the centuries.

Dope effect!
Feels like I'm watching a holonet news show! Great job!!!
ALex ur hologram is hilarious, buT CooL. :)
Great hologram! I can’t wait to see what you have planned for next time!
I still want to see a Jedi Order under Satele Shan, and I really want to see Tyhton (which is already canon). They can easily tell so many stories in the Old Republic, it could be more than just one trilogy.
This man is a force ghost
*hits blunt* Now this is my kind of Star Wars.
THAT'S SOME AWESOME HOLO!!!
I hope they go for the movies and video games in addition to the books and comics. Just having a whole new era to play with would be great. I don't even want them to necessarily cover the same characters or time period either.
Ahhhggg! Force Ghost Alex!
It would make sense if Project Luminous is about the High Republic, because “luminous” means “bright and shining,” which may refer to the Jedi’s spread throughout the galaxy during this time
I love this Holo Transmission reminds me all of the clone wars
Very cool got the blue thrawn look
I reckon that the Sith will still feature in some way.
I'd like it if they were hiding out on Exegol, influencing events using an earlier form of the Sith Eternal cult!
It would help explain the stuff going on with Darth Sidious in Episode IX and link Project Luminous to the Skywalker Saga without impacting anything at all.
I think this will be good for fans, new things gives less of a basis and expectation from fans, they can't complain because it is not as good as the last because it is new
Do you think this new film series will feature the iconic opening crawl despite not being a part of the Skywalker saga?
Another Claudia Gray book? I'm excited
When did Alex become one with the force?
I hope the High Republic Era is when the Jedi find out about the rule of two. Maybe they discover the Sith or find Darth Revan or Bane’s holocron.
Thanks, Alex! 🗼
When will you do in depth look at characters from canon and legends.
Maybe they can use some legends villains like the Swarm or Yuzang Vong
I’m pretty sure the vong have become the Grysk now.
Christian, oh no don’t get me wrong, I love the concept of the Grysk and legitimately hope that they become a major threat, but the Vong were practically as ubiquitous with Star Wars as lightsabers were for quite a while and I think it would be nice for cannon to at least acknowledge them even if it was just a small mention.
if in the unknown, CHISS PLEASE!
I hope they do another animated show like Clone Wars but set in the time where the Kotor are set I feel it would be amazing!
love the hologram.. but u gotta drop the mic in the hand bro!! ... just get your audio with a boom .. or tape that thing to a stick and have molly hold it over your head. lol ... holograms don't need a mic in the cannon!
Love the holo effect .
