Just upgraded from a 7 year old i7-8700K/GTX1080 to.... Ryzen 5 7600x3d (yes this is really a thing - limited market though) ASUS TUF Gaming B650-plus wifi 32Gb G.Skill Flare x5 DDR5-6000 CL32 WD-Black SN850X NVMe 1Tb Gigabyte RX7600XT Corsair RM750e ThermalTake TH240V2 The M/B, processor and ram were a bundle at $150 off, the cooler was also on a good sale. On the whole I hope to get another 7 years from this kit, maybe with a few minor upgrades.

I sticked with my am4 build myself and was able to justify an 4080S because so. I’m pretty confident i can get to am6 at this point my pc run everything 4k 60+ fps maxed out can’t complain atm the 5700x3D is a beast per value!
Just pulled the trigger on Prime day, had an ancient i3 540 and HD7770. Built a 5700X3D on Asus Strix b550, Red Devil 7800XT, 64GB Vengeance 3600, WD gen4 nvme, Corsair 850x ps and 4000D case, Peerless Assassin 120 cooler, and 32" Samsung Odyssey 1440p 240hz monitor. Paid like $181 for the 5700x3d, getting 200+ fps in my fav mmorpg, and the system runs so cool. I love it so much.
I can't thank you enough, learned a lot from just watching your videos and finally got my own PC soon which is mainly focused on ultra 1440p settings when it comes to gaming. Also something that probably only a few noticed as you hid it really well... your hair looks amazing now, you upgraded it with the 4090 HairTX! 👍🏻
Every time I hear Jason talking about a 1440 build I crank it up. I’m currently running a 2018 build. There was no way I was going to try to upgrade when Covid hit.!
I really like how you critiqued this build, well done. The RAM was a good touch, 16GB for 1080p/light1440p rig is more than enough, the CPU Cooler was a good note too and as you mentioned, this is one of the easier things to upgrade in the future; now for the case... I LOVE THIS CASE, for $60, it's one of the best one's I've built in so far, the aesthetics with the included RGB fans and hub are such a good deal! I don't like that its a negative pressure case but hey, for the money you can't complain too much. Good stuff.
having the 2 drives thing for me personally is mostly about data protection and modding for games, for many mods and modding applications its typically standard to keep games off the boot drive because windows does not play nice with applications constantly modifying or injecting scripts or any other data in another program or folder. You could just create a new partition but still keeping things off of it entirely makes it more practical incase of os instability or failure. The amount of times iv had to reinstall games in the past because I needed to clean install my OS or the amount of files and documents iv lost. Now i just organize my drives by OS, Games, and Storage. OS is a small 128gb sata ssd, gaming is a 1tb nvme for larger games that stream textures, another 1tb sata ssd for smaller games and older ones that wouldnt really benefit from an nvme, and storage is a 12tb hdd for general storage of everything i dont use on a daily basis.
Never knew that move to one and two when adding a new set of ram. I had that 1 and 3, and 2 and 4 burned into my brain years ago and never split up the old pair when adding a new one.
You basically saved the guy with the $700 build limit. The 7600 gpu was the best choice for his build and I was amazed by how you saved him $8-10 here and there to enable him to upgrade his GPU. Nice job Jason and why i watch/sub to members section
"5 years" == "ancient"; heh. Back when I was too busy to build, I had a custom desktop tower built for me by Silicon Mechanics (quod Google), so the hostname "Horta" was obvious. Horta lived for 17 years before she finally was killed by a Power Surge From Hell. At the end she was so decrepit that she was displaying 80x25 on a beige CRT, and I was still doing hardcore gaming: NetHack. I felt enough of an emotional attachment to her that I was sad when she died.
Only 6 GB RAM on the graphic card! I think about my first own PC (not from my parents) from 1997. AMD K6 200 MHz, 16 MB RAM (yes, I had a lot of RAM), 3,2 GB HDD, Matrox Mystique with 2 MB of VRAM.
@13:00 One thing about buying an indentical RAM kit later. Since its DDR4 it will be phasing out and you mite not be able to find an identical kit later. But 16GB should be enough for now the GPU is the most important part. 🙂
Rx 6800 is 350 on newegg. That is really hard to beat and man I know it didnt fit in the 700 dollar build but if you could just stretch another 40 bucks you could have an insane gpu that would do what 127 fps in that chart? Just wow prices are falling.
Great budget build given todays prices and availability. Always buff up the GPU whenever possible. The 7600XT is a killer choice at this budget. Make cuts elsewhere.
Got confused, clicked on a notification that said "PS5 Pro Vs $700 PC Build 🛑 PC Build Fails | Boost My Build *_S4:E9_* " To come to a video that's labeled "Boost My Build *_S4:E10_* " thought I had missed a video.
8:48 - I got my 4070 for 500€ last year 4 days before black friday instead of the original 700€+ that this card is still on sale for today, so hear what this man has to say. To be fair, mine is a gigabyte card and they were having a PR nightmare with how their 30 series and some of their high-end 40 series were having cracked PCB's due to sagging last year, but for 500€ +5€ for a bracket? I took it. Don't regret it. Therefore, if you have time and you don't really care about the 2 games coming with the 7600XT, waiting until November for your GPU sounds like a pretty good move. If you knew what you were doing, I'd wait for the deals and buy the whole PC in november, but since that's not the case, GPU sales is your best bet at saving a couple bucks without messing anything else up. Pretty good gaming system and decent workstation for 715$ though. And you can go to 32 GB of RAM for another 28$ if you end up needing it, which is nice.
You should also do some build guides with Ali Express items. The case and cpu cost could have saved him $60+ bucks to add into a gpu, thus moving him into the 7600xt at at even lower price point
2019 CPUs were pretty decent, 9900K can be bought under $200 but then again, you can get 5800X for way cheaper new... If you have an i9 or i7 equivalent, then all you really need to do is upgrade your GPU
What would you consider to be "the second best" PC you could build? Basically, what is one step, or one level below the best of the best for gaming? I still have a 1060 laptop I bought for $260, but it's just not enough anymore. Great videos as always by the way!
@kelley09162 I don't have a budget. I guess I'd just say $3000 u.s.d. I'm aware that's well beyond what I'm asking. I used to build PCs for my friends and teachers in the 2000s and early 2010s, so I'm much more knowledgeable than most customers. I just want multiple professional opinions along with my own.
@@dewrito2325 then you'd be looking at a 7800X3D or 9800X3D when it comes out, along with a 7900XTX. Also you can do a build like that for way under 3000.
Another very informative video. Thank you. When you are talking about adding RAM and say put original kit in slots 1 and 2 and the add on in 3 nd 4 isn't that the way pre-builts come? Looking to add 16gb's of the same kit so can I just add to the 2 open spots and not worry about it?
The first person definitely missed out on some amazing deals during the sales. $112 for the 5600X or combo deal for $195, $300 6750XT along with the $50 MSI 650w unit. We'll see what BF brings. Also, disagree with the PSU chosen by Jason. A 650w unit is minimum IMO with headroom for a 7700XT or perhaps 7800XT.
Scorptec is one of my goto PC retailers in Australia. Also they seem to be the only ones here to stock n sell the XFX models. I have been eyeing the 7900GRE for a while.
For that first build, looks right on the money but...I'd shake the couch cushions or cash in some recycle or bum off a buddy the extra $25 for 32 GB RAM :)
About the second build the motherboard may need a bios update for the 5700X3D to work. So best to update it to the latest version before changing the CPU.
no, you should not leave and use stock cooler, its maybe fine for 4core cpu, 6 core not so much.. after 2 days you will be looking for a new cooler.. 7600xt is 300$ and is no better then 6600xt, it has 16gb of vram but its too slow to matter, its still a 1080p card, 5% faster but 100+$(50%) more expensive.. 16gb or ram is fine for a budget build, you dont want 4 sticks, it will drop memory speed to be stable, so whatever minor gain you get by 32gb it will probably be lost by lowering memory speed you dont want or need 1440p monitor unless you have at least 4070 super or 7800xt, especialy not for 7600xt..
Trying to upgrade my computer before monster hunter wilds comes out. It's the only series I've followed since I was a kid, I love the series! I have: X470 gaming pro carbon Ryzen 7 2700x Radeon 5700xt 8gb *Blower style* gpu Corsair vengeance 32gb clocked to 3200 850 watt power supply My case from 2013 I bet I could get away with a GPU and maybe a CPU upgrade. Would love to hear your ideas! I'd like to play in 1440p
2700X needs to go, as does the GPU. 5700X3D plus a RX 7700 XT or higher GPU would be great for 1440p. Avoid any GPU with a x8 PCIE connector (like any of the 7600 XT, and the 7700 XT and 7800 XT Acer models) as you only have Gen 3 on the X470.
For Australia the shipping times aren't bad from AliExpress from what tech yes city says. Also the cases probably are cheaper its a shorter boat trip from china to Australia.

Jw and scorptec are decent Australian vendors along with pccasegear furthermore being Aussie myself I know that those three are good they tend to price match to each other and centrecom isn’t as good
I have to replace my 6700 XT graphic card it died. I have had it for four years. It moved from Missouri to Louisiana. Been thinking strongly about two certain cards. I thought about the 7800 XT and the 7900 GRE. I know both of them are great choices. The 7900 XT is way out of my budget. Unless in November the price drop. I already have a great base Ryzen 5 7600x with 32 Gb of ddr5 6000 ram. I admit I don't like ASUS b650-plus wifi motherboard. Its okay just not my favorite. I have two NVME solid state drives that ain't having problems with that windows 11 update.
I disagree with the RAM choice on the $700 build, it's maybe $5 more to get a 3600mt 16gb kit, and you get 5-10% more performance vs the 3200 kit. Lots of videos out there from years ago to prove it. And 4 Dimms slow down the memory access, stick with two Dimms.
noooo you dont need the 7600xt with that configuration. you have resizeable bar. I would do either a 6700xt or get the 32gb and faster cpu back on the 7600 non-xt. I know toms has the 7600xt as faster, but thats because they dont benchmark with resizeable bar. I would argue they're nearly the same if you benchmark on an optimized amd platform.

Maybe that has something to do with taxes being very different depending on where you are. There’s a 1.5 percent difference just one town over from me.
In the US tax varies a ton including some lucky states with no sales tax (looking at you Oregon) then of course we have a lot of international people who watch as well. Rather than pick a tax amount at random and make people subtract that before adding their own I give the baseline. If you know a better way of doing it I’m open to it
For example, mine is 8.5%, and could rise with the elections in a couple of weeks up to 10.25%! Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and some Alaska cities (most notably Anchorage and Fairbanks) don't have a sales tax.

Wondering what type of build you would recommend for a upgrading a multimedia pc.. One not specifically for gaming.. World of warcraft, NFS unbound and some other older titles. but for just kicking back on a home theater. Right now it's an 8 yr old Ryzen 1800x, 32 gigs ddr 4, taichi x370, 2 tb nvme m.2 & a 256gig m.2, rx7600 for its GPU. For what I do and the few games I play it does pretty well. Planning to carry over the 2tb m.2, power supply, case nzxt h440, GPu.
As much as i love your builds and advice, i do feel that for the first build, telling him to buy so much of his build next paycheck is a bit out of the spirit of the challenge. When i think of a "build", i imagine it being for the full or at least most of it
@PCBuilderChannel oh no no the 15 bucks isnt what i meant at all 😅 I meant moreso the idea of finding lots and lots of budget by upgrading things with more money after the pc is built. Like for example buying a cooler, bigger SSD and another 16gb ram kit after it's built. I just feel that calling it a $715 pc is a bit out of the 'spirit' of building, if you then have to buy a bunch of other stuff later before its really complete. No hate at all, love your stuff, just sharing my thoughts and opinions 🫶
Closing in on that 500k mark! The comment wars are going wild over this topic lol. I can't do it for once, people arguing that consoles are better than PC just defy all logic. 🤣
Well it depends on what your rig is, and what you prioritize. The ps5 pro will run games at 4k 60 with full raytracing. According to Steam charts, most people don’t have a rig on that level. So there’s an argument to be had that a $700 ps5 pro would beat a pc with a rig that the majority of Steam users have. So while pc users could upgrade, you then would have to figure out what matters more to you. Personally, I don’t see what the problem is. It’s a premium console offering premium fidelity (4k 60 with raytracing) at the same price the GPU alone would cost to do the same thing.
@@kellswiss Lmao... this is exactly what I mean. How... *_pray tell please,_* in the ever loving world... do you think... _a console confirmed to have the vast majority of titles at 30 fps locked..._ is going to *full ray trace anything??* *_Especially considering the 4090 can't even do that... and Sony is using a 7800xt equivalent???_* You're not getting 4k, you're not getting RT, you're getting a locked ecosystem with horrid peripheral latency. Please don't @ me with this absolute nonsense, it's 2024, you can do more with a PC than you can _any_ console.
@@x8jason8x I was probably off base with “full” RT. But you’re completely wrong about consoles being locked at 30fps. Maybe the Series S, but the Series X and Ps5 have been running titles at 60 and even 120 (depending on title) for a while now. Seems like you lack awareness of how close consoles have gotten with this generation. And it’s not an AMD equivalent GPU, because it runs raytracing at a quality level better than what FSR is currently doing.
@@kellswiss I love how I built computers for 30+ years, know hardware inside and out... but inevitably, *_some dude commenting on a video who didn't even read what I said knows more than I do about it, and just had to @ me after I asked him not to._* SMH 🤣Knock yourself out man. Still rocking a x570, Ryzen 5 3600, rog strix 2070 super, and 16 gigs of 3200 ram. Debating if the am4 upgrade to a 5700x3d and a 7900xt is worth it or just go all in and build on the am5 platform. Seems kind of dumb to put money into am4 to upgrade with the prices still decently high
Well, well, well. . . what do we have here? 1:19 is the first attempt at a console killer build since the launch of the current generation of consoles back in 2020 - at least, the first attempt that I'm aware of.
Hi jason, i just bought the thermaltake gf1 (2024) which seems to be A tier on the tierlist but i have seen a lot of people giving it bad review, now I don’t know if i made a good purchase
Dont skimp on the rating for the power supply. 80+ gold should be the MINIMUM you go with. Even then, the more power hungry the parts you have, the higher the rating you should be going with. Yeah you might spend less on the build going cheaper but you're going to end up paying for that through your power bill
One of my friends got a faulty am4 CPU on his hands, and wants to upgrade his rtx2060 GPU soon. He originally planned on replacing the whole system, but he cant afford it yet. I recommended him to just go for that 5700X3D, so that he could keep his Platfrom and get a functioning and fast system quickly and affordable, to save money towards a nice rtx4070 or something. So is that cpu worth it?
The X870 ASUS isn't necessary. A B650 is all you need. You can also go cheaper on the CPU Cooler with the Thermalright Phantom Spirit. The rest looks good though.

Paid like $181 for the 5700x3d, getting 200+ fps in my fav mmorpg, and the system runs so cool. I love it so much.

For building a new pc it makes sense but if you have a 5600g you can just spend a small amount slap a 5700x3d and call it a day.
Top tier advice on the PS5 Pro 1st build. Not a bad price for what they got, but I like the idea of allowing for some future upgrades
Thank you! That's one of the major advantages of a PC over a console, the upgrade path (:
I can't thank you enough, learned a lot from just watching your videos and finally got my own PC soon which is mainly focused on ultra 1440p settings when it comes to gaming.
Also something that probably only a few noticed as you hid it really well... your hair looks amazing now, you upgraded it with the 4090 HairTX! 👍🏻
Thank you so much! And love that you've learned so much, thanks for watching! :)

Comes with Unknown 9 Awakening. Id be more likely to buy that GPU if it didn’t come with that game.
Space Marines 2 is well reviewed!
I watch this channel for your genuinely kind attitude! Contagious!
Happy to hear you're enjoying it :) Thanks for your viewership!
Never knew that move to one and two when adding a new set of ram. I had that 1 and 3, and 2 and 4 burned into my brain years ago and never split up the old pair when adding a new one.
i love your videos so much man. you inspired me to start building pcs again a few years back. neer stop doing what you love man! love ya dude.
Thanks so much! Love to hear that you came back to it, happy to help! And thank you so much for watching :))
You basically saved the guy with the $700 build limit. The 7600 gpu was the best choice for his build and I was amazed by how you saved him $8-10 here and there to enable him to upgrade his GPU. Nice job Jason and why i watch/sub to members section
Hey thanks Rand!! Really appreciate that feedback.
I'll tell ya, that's some boosted builds i must say!!! Great job Jason! As always ;D
Much appreciated! BMB for the win!! :))
That second build for 1440p/4K was hilarious. I chuckled a lot.
Missed the opportunity to say "E for Evade."

@@PCBuilderChannel i love it
i love seeing the upgrade build in this i built last year and ended up reusing my rx 590. Life happened before i bought the gpu
Always good to tackle a boost my upgrade! I know a lot of builders face similar choices
My brother still with ryzen 5 3600 and 1080 ti. No plans to upgrade .... Good pc for almost everything
Have you got a new camera? The video looks great either way!
Last week, the 5800x was $128 on Newegg.....thats a steal!!!!
Even though I would have never used it right now, I am kicking myself for not buying one.
I got a RX 7600 XT with that promotion and I paired it with a 5700X3D.
This GPU replaces a RX 6700 XT which was overkill for a backup PC.
Rx 6800 is 350 on newegg. That is really hard to beat and man I know it didnt fit in the 700 dollar build but if you could just stretch another 40 bucks you could have an insane gpu that would do what 127 fps in that chart? Just wow prices are falling.
That's a great deal!
I always thumbs up your videos. I learn something new EVERY time. When I see you dropped a new video I have to watch immediately.
We love to hear it, thanks so much for all your support! Hope you keep enjoying all the content :D
Cheers from Costa Rica!! Another great episode .
A big hello from the States! Happy to hear you enjoyed this BMB!
Great budget build given todays prices and availability. Always buff up the GPU whenever possible. The 7600XT is a killer choice at this budget. Make cuts elsewhere.
Well said!
I've built a few rigs with the MSI B650N, it's just as solid as the 550.
Hello Jason.. Great one as always..
I've 6700xt. And R5 5600 is it worth it to upgrade my cpu to 5700x3d?
Scorptec and Centrecom are great to buy from. Not had experience with JW.
Good to know, thanks for sharing!
Been shopping Scorptec for 20+ years since it was run out of the founder's parents' house. 👍
You should also do some build guides with Ali Express items. The case and cpu cost could have saved him $60+ bucks to add into a gpu, thus moving him into the 7600xt at at even lower price point
6:30 The Corsair CX is very similar to the CV series. That's what I've gathered from the Cultists discord.
Depends on what your budget is
@kelley09162 I don't have a budget.
@kelley09162 I can afford a rtx 4090, but i know there's diminishing value. This isn't about budget. This is about getting an Olympic silver medal PC
@@dewrito2325 that's why I say 7900XTX. A 4090 would be a Gold Metal GPU.
Man is like the PC Nerd alternative reality of Scotty Kilmer. Rev up your engines 😅
Thank you for cdkey discount
Happy to help!
That's great to hear!
7900GRE were at $560 on Amazon and NewEgg.
Weeks late to this party Jason, but appreciated non the less 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
I wanna see you with a Cool Buzz Cut
I'm watching this on a 165hz 24" 1440p koorui and it would look really nice next to his AOC A$282.52
For that first build, looks right on the money but...I'd shake the couch cushions or cash in some recycle or bum off a buddy the extra $25 for 32 GB RAM :)
About the second build the motherboard may need a bios update for the 5700X3D to work. So best to update it to the latest version before changing the CPU.
I reckon the Ryzen 5 7500f is also a great consideration for that price as well... if you can find it.
no, you should not leave and use stock cooler, its maybe fine for 4core cpu, 6 core not so much.. after 2 days you will be looking for a new cooler..
7600xt is 300$ and is no better then 6600xt, it has 16gb of vram but its too slow to matter, its still a 1080p card, 5% faster but 100+$(50%) more expensive..
16gb or ram is fine for a budget build, you dont want 4 sticks, it will drop memory speed to be stable, so whatever minor gain you get by 32gb it will probably be lost by lowering memory speed
you dont want or need 1440p monitor unless you have at least 4070 super or 7800xt, especialy not for 7600xt..
Trying to upgrade my computer before monster hunter wilds comes out. It's the only series I've followed since I was a kid, I love the series!
I have:
X470 gaming pro carbon
Ryzen 7 2700x
Radeon 5700xt 8gb *Blower style* gpu
Corsair vengeance 32gb clocked to 3200
850 watt power supply
My case from 2013
I bet I could get away with a GPU and maybe a CPU upgrade.
@@PCBuilderChannel thank you for the response! That was wicked fast! Would that motherboard bottleneck anything if I'm able to push to a high end GPU?

Both are good choices with that 7600X.
I would argue they're nearly the same if you benchmark on an optimized amd platform.
i5 12400f+msi pro B760-P+kingston fury beast 32GB+rx 6800xt asus tuf gaming+WD black SN850X ssd 2TB M.2 NVMe best combo for me and coz all new games are trash i will not change it

Canadian prices would bring that 700$ build to 1500$
These build prices are always wrong, you never include tax.

Depends on what your budget is

You're welcome! I'm glad they're helpful.
Until now, I didn't even realize my Ryzen 5 5600 was PCI gen 4.0 ;-)
As much as i love your builds and advice, i do feel that for the first build, telling him to buy so much of his build next paycheck is a bit out of the spirit of the challenge. When i think of a "build", i imagine it being for the full or at least most of it
I went over the budget by $15! I try to stay exactly on or under but I don’t think $15 is too much of a stretch. Sorry if something I said was unclear
@PCBuilderChannel oh no no the 15 bucks isnt what i meant at all 😅
I meant moreso the idea of finding lots and lots of budget by upgrading things with more money after the pc is built.
We sure are! And yep (:
_a console confirmed to have the vast majority of titles at 30 fps locked..._ is going to *full ray trace anything??* *_Especially considering the 4090 can't even do that... and Sony is using a 7800xt equivalent???_*
You're not getting 4k, you're not getting RT, you're getting a locked ecosystem with horrid peripheral latency.
@@kellswiss I love how I built computers for 30+ years, know hardware inside and out... but inevitably, *_some dude commenting on a video who didn't even read what I said knows more than I do about it, and just had to @ me after I asked him not to._*
SMH 🤣Knock yourself out man. I'm just gonna mute you. You don't even know AMD built the boards for Sony.
Could go either way for sure!

Dont skimp on the rating for the power supply. 80+ gold should be the MINIMUM you go with. Even then, the more power hungry the parts you have, the higher the rating you should be going with. Yeah you might spend less on the build going cheaper but you're going to end up paying for that through your power bill
