I love everything I see here and I hope there would be a diverse variety of environments to race around, distinct personalities for the drivers and passengers, and the ability to eject them when they become unruly. But anyways, keep up the good work, man!! So excited for this!!!
Some critique here: - You could add this effect under the car where it is like heat effect that comes from the thrust due to which the car flies - Could add voice lines and various peds reacting to you driving faster or slower or bashing the objects or crashing. - Could add this 'jiggle' or the NPCs swaying towards right or left with some intensity as the function of car's speed and how much it turns - Currently the NPCs are plain an boring; could add so much life to them Anyways, there is so much you can do to improve the game and I will try adding in more suggestions.
Thanks for the feedback! The first two things on your list are already on my roadmap. The 3rd is something I had previously investigated and have on my "nice to have" list if there's time pre-launch. If not, it'll have to be added as an update.
@@geoffbloom7962 Shoot me an email with your Steam details if you want - info@milehightaxi.net. I'm not quite yet ready for beta, but alpha should be ready within about a month.

I don't have upgradability planned for initial release. But there is a boost, yes. There are 3 vehicles to choose from, but their primary difference is visual and less about the different feel or ability of the cars - though there are minor differences in handling.

Super Rad! Some unsolicited criticism: the motion blur is very strong... I know it's a contentious issue, but for me at least, I never get motion sickness, except if there is motion blur. If pausing the video at any random point shows hardly anything without blur, it's too much.
Thanks for the constructive feedback! I've noticed it too, and it's a simple change to make. When the game is running 120+fps the motion blur is almost gone, but at 60fps it gets pretty heavy. Will work on it. Thank you.
@@CassiusJohnAdams A pleasure! And, I know it's a hot topic too. A lot of people do like it. I usually turn it off if I can. Also, I noticed there aren't many fancy particle effects in yet. If you'd like some nice custom ones, I'd be happy to help (for free) as I'm currently finishing my gamedev portfolio. Feel free to get in touch!

@@yuanyao7007 Yes, I used Blender. I see. Well, I modeled all my buildings and it took a lot of time (little over 6 months). Much more time than it should have, but that's because I iterated on the models based on performance metrics in Unity Profiler that I was getting for each 3d model iteration. I basically modeled the buildings about 5 times before settling on something "optimal" to my situation. But I imagine you can purchase some buildings from the Unity asset store. There's also some Blender plugins that help make modeling/generating buildings easier (I can't recommend any specifically as I haven't used any).
Thank you. Was hoping to make it into Steam's Summer Game Festival, but had to pull out two days ago. Not quite ready. Should be ready for the Fall festival.
It's all great except THAT MOTION BLUR ARTIFACTING. Unity has fairly good built-in motion blur so why are you using some asset that is worse? Or is this a new version of Unity's motion blur in the HDRP? This stuff distorts everything with huge masking artifacts (background becoming part of the object or vice versa) and hurts my eyes just watching. I can't imagine playing like this.
Hey, thanks for the feedback! I appreciate and hear ya. I've added the option to enable/disable motion blur as a setting. This is the standard URP motion blur. Honestly, I'm wondering if UA-cam cut it back from 60fps to 30fps and just merged every second frame because the video shows much more motion blur that I see in real gameplay.
Game play looks really fun, like really fun, but the art style... It's pretty ugly. It doesn't look like there is a theme and it very, boring looking. A game with flying cars and you are just between giant slabs of concrete?
@@CassiusJohnAdams Couldn't stop thinking about this game if I'm honest and, if you are open, I do have some ideas. I think a twilight time period would bring a lot of interesting looks to the game. With this time period, you can both get interesting light from the horizon as well as an overall glow from the game itself from the lights of the city. Some stuff that really sticks out is the type of signage that you see. Everything looks "of the present time" and not of a time that would have flying cars. I think this is honestly just a personal preference in this kind of stuff but I think these buildings look like they were made around the 1920s rather than the glass monoliths that you see being made now. More dynamic objects such as smoke making objects, giving a different kind of obstacle. As it sits now, the objects in-game look generic. Im just some random person online. Im only talking because the game looks fun.
@@blainemobius2697 I forgot to reply to this, but read your comment when you first posted it. The buildings looking like they're from the present day is on purpose. I didn't want any buildings to appear to be an attempt at future architecture and opted for designs that anyone (that's been to a city I suppose) can identify with. I stuck mostly with concrete, brick, and limestone with a few others mixed in. Even the "street furniture" is from the current era. There's a million movies and games out there that depict future architecture, and I wanted to go for something different and familiar. I tried your suggestion of twilight but it's giving me some problems. Perhaps I'll give it another attempt as time permits. Thanks for your feedback!
