San Diego: ATM Fire 06282024

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 6-28-24 3:00 am approx
LOCATION: 16000 blk of Bernardo Center Dr
AREA/CITY: San Diego
DETAILS:
Firefighters arrived at the First Citizens Bank to find the Drive-thru ATM on fire. They quickly put the fire out, and the Police were called. Security Video showed a person using some type of device with hanging wires attempting to open the ATM when some type of an electrical short started the fire. The suspect then left quickly. The attempted theft is under investigation. We were told that on average, the ATM holds approx $60,000.

Not suggesting this was a homeless person matter because we don't know, but can you imagine what the community of Rancho Bernardo would be like if the trolley went all the way up to Bernardo Center Drive? La Jolla residents are now experiencing first hand what interesting things the trolley brings to SD communities. RB residents would come unscrewed.
