LOCATION: Lake Crest Dr (Mountain Hawk Park)
AREA/CITY: Chula Vista
DETAILS:
A man was out for his morning walk in the park, and as he approached a small amphitheater area, he saw a male who appeared to be sleeping. As he got closer, he realized something was wrong and discovered that the male was bleeding from the head and not moving.
911 was called, and the Police discovered the male had been shot in the head. The Firefighters arrived and declared the male to be deceased. The incident is under investigation.
It’s currently not known if this is a homicide or a suicide, and the Police will wait for the County Medical Examiner to arrive to make a determination.
UPDATE: Ruled to be a suicide.

@User_92020 entrance of gunshot should easily determine that. There should be gunpowder burn depending on how far the gun was from the wound. I used to deal with deaths and cases that came from the M.E.
This park is full of weird people smoking pot at night, also there are drug dealers around the area not surprised, will happen more often

Suicide would mean the gun would be near. While theyre are freakin Einsteins who would take a gun under these conditions, it also would make that person liable to be held for this mans death. And by ignorance or stupidity, i agree it should be a charge and conviction if that is what happend here.
Im guessing because im not seeing the typical houseless gear near this park or near the deceased, it was probably a meet up exchange gone bad.
Pure speculation, no evidence for my opinion.
They ruled it a suicide, a gun being near by doesn't always mean suicide, you could shoot someone with gloves on drop the gun next to them and get away with it ? I think not , I'm guessing they fingerprinted the gun first , only found the deceased prints on it ..

The way I see it,it looks like a homicide and NOT a suicide otherwise the cops would have found his gun, so it was a homicide🤔

check for an ID?
Dental records
ID, as previously mentioned. Fingerprints will often work nowadays, since the CA DMV requires fingerprints for licenses. I don't think dental records are any use unless they already have a name and need only confirm it. Maybe run DNA through 23-and-me and similar, possibly find family, show them pictures of the deceased. If the gun is found, use the serial number to start with the manufacturer and follow the chain of transfers to the end, see if the last recorded recipient is the deceased. I hear this is a PITA and unreliable, police often don't bother doing this for crimes, and this is why the hysteria over "ghost guns" is ridiculous.
the police do not know if this was a homicide or suicide? If it was suicide, wouldn't the gun be nearby?
They ruled it a suicide, they don't immediately rule it that because someone can shoot someone and just drop the gun and run , they probably fingerprinted it first

Unless someone is breaking into someone's house or trying to attack them; there's no need to kill someone. Even if the victim was homeless he's a human being. People need to stop killing each other over petty Shit.

I saw a radio walkie talkie on the floor, i lot of young kids that work for cartel chill around the city driving around waiting for orders to pick illegals up or transport drugs, almost like they couldve been chillin there doing what they do , or maybe took them there by force to be killed. Its a very lonely place at night
