I strongly agree with the offensive stance guard swapping issue! It's such a small thing but it makes him feel incredible clunky and frustrating at times. Also I think an enhanced top light would be really nice and not too overpowered, shaolin got one. Overall great points.

the speed of the stance is determined by the animations, imagine how jerky they will be, considering that there is no block in the attacking stance, is there a big difference in how quickly you change this stance?
Only thing I disagree is the front dodge HA out of offensive stance. Because u literly only want to fight out of offensive stance then. It also would make ur offensive stance not that vulnerable anymore, wich also defeats a big part of his disign.
Being able to feint the first strike of the zone would be an amazing change and would be pretty unique considering raider is the only one that do it currently.
By far the worst thing about the current version is the recoveries after dodging on offensive, not for wavedashing, just punishing things. Yes he has a dodge attack now in offensive for that, but the dodge attack won't interrupt or trade, which was the whole point of dodge kicking. Has made him a lot worse defensively and feel a lot worse to play/flow into
Nothing against the idea. But I can't imagine what that would look like. Now that I think about it, you could soft frit between the the wrap around animation. When it's behind his back you could transition to a top. Maybe a spin to help with the weapon momentum
Celtic curse out of offensive stance has been on my mind for days now as a good roll catch, I think they should even make the side cancels undodgeable. That way you have to commit if you want undodgeable property.
They could make it so you can still wave dash by giving highlander a mechanic where he can cancel part of his OF dodge by switching guards. Thus shortening the distance and and speed between dodges.
The testing grounds doesn't even feel like Highlander anymore. They removed the dodge recovery from os and added a dodge attack? He already had pseudo dodge attack options with the fast dodge recovery. I don't see why they would remove something just to repace it with something jank. Also why is his in os still lower than a regular heavy? They removed dodge grab so i don't get why it's still so low, just make it 28 or something
I just don’t see why they didn’t put wave dash in the TG like that’s the point of a TG to see whats overtuned, perfectly tuned or undertuned. To a lot of die hard HL mains wave dash was a good portion of his character identity and it’s just a shame it’s gone and they didn’t even say a word about it during warriors den it’s like they are cherry picking which feedback to take into consideration

One more important thing regarding bugs: There's still a bug where HL can randomly drop offensive stance if using lights from different directions. I'm guessing this is only a PC problem, but it is very annoying. Also, I believe they should change or adjust imputs on his new ability to fast-flow in OS from heavy feints - rather than pressing heavy+cancel+heavy(hold), they should just leave heavy(hold), same way as how it works with his celtic curse. Because honestly, this is a very cool feature, but I barely see anyone use it due to how hard and clunky it is to perform
This is a bug that’s actually considered tech that a lot of Highlanders don’t want gone. Essentially, if you stance switch immediately after an OF light, you drop out of OF without stamina, silently, instantly. He can also do this after a dodge, which was important with front dodge previously but not anymore since they made dodges slower.
But right now its actually makes more problem,due to a little bit slower feint to parry,and thats makes playing him even clankier and more punishing for doing any move on OS
Forwards dodge caber toss is his roll catcher. With all feints accessing OS, and OS now having quick dodge recovery on entering, you can now feint your heavy/zone/kick and dodge forwards grab the rolling enemy.

Doesn't that require me to predict him rolling and running so it is as much a roll catcher as feint into GB. Am i getting sth wrong? EDIT: and if HL enters revenge and ppl roll from him and he chases them with his forward dogde grab, he can be bashed out of the grab so he cannot punish rollers or catchers if enemy teammates are around. Nah, I feel like dodge forward grab is little useful as a roll catcher or to chase down runners.
@@aberger6666 Most roll catchers only catches a roll from feint/neutral. It’s not any different with grab. In revenge all bashes have Super armor. There is a small window between the throw down and the heavy, but it risks the person peeling eating 34 damage.
I know the dashing wasn't intentional in the beginning, and it also doesn't make sense with him having a Greatsword, but it became a feature after all this time, and it's so much fun, so please keep it dev team.
a greatsword doesnt weigh alot...so having a greatsword wouldnt affect having wave dash...? characters that rrequire a bit more skill have more die hard fan base. if they rework goes though alot of highlander mains would adjust but a small precentage would just leave the game. waaaazzzzzuuuuuppppp said it nicely.
I don't fucking care about this rework, they removed the entire point of highlander by nerfing wave dashing. HL was my only rep70 and favorite hero, they changed his fun gameplay for the purpose of making him "viable" and turned him into straigh up spam, fuck this
OS only defensive move was dodging. Previously you could dodge then light/kick to punish attacks. They adjusted attack recovery after dodges now since kick is feintable and they want to remove the large damage from just a dodge. Having a dodge attack instead of animation canceling dodges into a kick for a free unblockable heavy seems like a good balance change.

Tbh, i think that one of highlander biggest problem is that his animations in defensive stance suck. He wields a giant sword and for some reasons he just teleport it from left to right or to the top of his head mid chain. I mean, it's not a super tecnical problem, but I litteraly find it hard to play him because it looks like he's having a seizure half the time
Quick canceling is also removed which sucks major ass. Also i dont like the dodge attack from os stance its suck a weird change, and I would like to not have that forced input.

so wavedashing, there's a lot of mixed feelings about this but long story short its probably better gone, the char will be hard to play still and all of the fancy stuff its there but if we are going to p much buff HL in just about everything he needs to stop somewhere and wave dashing just feel correct to nerf (dodge distance means nothing when constant i frames are present when also wavedashing its not fun to play against without a blue move) the TG has been buff after buff outside of all the bugs he came with and personally i dont want another medjay situation of an untouched giga buffed char for 1 year
Hell no to #2. Not every hero needs "neutral offense." Some heroes should be bad in situations because they are good in other situations. That's why it's a hero-based game. If you want every hero to be the exact same and have the exact same capabilities in every situation, then go play something else. I prefer heroes being unique. Highlander has a lot of upsides, he doesn't need to be great in every category; No hero in the game should.

Idk why anybody thinks that the second stance should be the main one imo, it just doesn't make sense. You do your combo then switch into it because by then they have little room to do an attack to stop you, they HAVE to move according to your terms. But if you're ONLY in offensive, you're having to play around THEM. And when he is completely vulnerable, being in offensive constantly is extremely risky.

I would say the main reason most highlander players want it to stay is not for difficulty's sake, but rather because it was a core part of highlander's high-mobility offense. I don't think they should just give him wavedash-level dodge recovery. The fun part about it is the reward of having high mobility for more technical inputs. It sort of feels like they're dumbing down the character in a way.
It's not difficult for difficulties sake. It's semi difficult but provides extremely good mobility/defense in a form that doesn't have guard. Giving him orochi style recovery just takes away from what makes him special. If you want to play a hero with unblockables and high recovery play zhanhu. Wavedashing is integral to Highlander, anyone who says otherwise just isn't good with him.

@@ceryage2796 wavedash description should just be added to the hero moveset. As a hero with crazy hyper armor, CC, 400 MS lights, etc he should not have the same agility as an assassin. It ruins his image and only makes him a more diluted hero. The technique made it hard to use, but allowed you to play as a truly offensive powerhouse. With stuff like kick cancels and OF dodge attacks they can't just give him insane recovery as well, his dodge into OF grab was already removed in the 2nd rework. This isn't to make HL top 3 it's meant to put him back into Meta. If you want a "satisfying" experience play Lvl 1 Bots. Having a technique that requires practice but allows you to kick your offensive into an even higher gear is extremely satisfying. The inability to do so is purely skill related.

It’s probably so that you can’t just punish attacks with 26 damage. You have a dodge attack now that has a dodge cancel attached to it. It’s fine.
I wish they kept dodge kick, just reduce the damage if it's too strong in 1v1's. Now HL feels like low rep kensei 2 in dominion

So making it actual move,and not "tech" is what important,and by making input's easier,it makes game more satisfying, and so,you are not in frames of what you can do with wavedash, imagine having opportunity to not doing guardswitch
@@ceryage2796 wavedash description should just be added to the hero moveset. As a hero with crazy hyper armor, CC, 400 MS lights, etc he should not have the same agility as an assassin. It ruins his image and only makes him a more diluted hero. The technique made it hard to use, but allowed you to play as a truly offensive powerhouse. With stuff like kick cancels and OF dodge attacks they can't just give him insane recovery as well, his dodge into OF grab was already removed in the 2nd rework. This isn't to make HL top 3 it's meant to put him back into Meta. If you want a "satisfying" experience play Lvl 1 Bots. Having a technique that requires practice but allows you to kick your offensive into an even higher gear is extremely satisfying. The inability to do so is purely skill related.
