Hey, thank you for the video. I'm trying to take apart the semi-sealed hub of my daughter's bike but opening the nuts next to the cassette seems impossible, they won't move a millimeter. I have sprayed it with anti-corrosion/anti-jam oil, but no success. You open it with ease at 1:35 of this video - how do you do it like that, without holding the opposite side, as these nuts turn with the axle? Thanks again!
Okay got it open - the ****er was jammed TIGHT. I also learnt it was actually sealed, although it was supposed to be semi-sealed. The reason I wanted to take it apart was that the cranks would keep turning when pushing the bike. So, having got it open, I cleaned and greased the pawls etc. and put everything back together - but the cranks still turn when pushing the bike. What would you suggest, what should I try next? Thanks again for very helpful videos.
@@drewanstore5550 Great. sometimes the pedals will turn when there's not enough tension in the chain. or when there's too much tension in the pawls of the cassette driver. My current setup runs double springs for extra sound but the trade off is the cranks always move when pushing the bike along.
Try servicing the hub. And when you put it back together ensure that there's a little bit of side to side play on the driver. Like a millimeter or so to make sure the ball bearings move freely. Also try and ensure the chain isn't too tight
If it makes a sound then feels like it's skipping a bit when you pedal, it could be the spring is loose on the inside and you need to rebuild the hub. It might be that or a ball bearing has broken in there and it's rubbing up against the other ones that are fine. If you can, rebuild the hub just to be safe
If you're in an area where there's bike shops, buying a direct replacement spring is better. The wire from a Keychain ring could work but only if you find a really slim one, then work on getting it to fit and work
An easy way to get it on there is to leave it in a freezer for like 5, 10 minutes or so to allow it contract in size. This allows you to install it a bit easier without much force. Once done and temps get back to normal it works just like it should. Just don't leave it in there too long though.
Good looking man. I picked up a hub from a buddy of mine, currently working on it to see if it's going to be a good replacement for that Quando on my wheel

my pedals spin when im going forward like a fixed gear road bike even though it is a semi sealed cassette how do i fix this?

My damn bearing broke puting the main part of the hub back on

😂😂😂😂 I feel your pain. They make a good hub but requires lots of maintenance to keep them running. Something not everyone is able to keep up with

Yep. And if you happen to lose the ball bearings it decides not to work or it works while grinding through the hub housing
