Great video. I didn't have the problem getting the old bearing out, thankfully. Perfect teaching for someone who hadn't replaced wheel bearings before. Many Thanks.
Thanks for the video. I just picked up a neighbors Miraaco bike from their trash. Rear hub is rusted. This vid will help me in removing and replacing both bearings.
Really appreciate this video, especially the part of putting the pawls/springs back into the hub correctly. You bailed me out the night before a GCQ race, working on my Niece's bike, the rear hub came apart, had no idea what to do until I came across your great video. Been meaning to post something, finally got around to it. Thanks Again!!
I appreciate you bringing the missing spacer part My hub was acting up all day because I took it apart but this video is very helpful I hope you succeed making more content and videos
Awesome video, thanks man! I picked up a used Kink Whip and it wasn't taken care of very well. The rear hub sounds terrible when you put the chain on and try to pedal the bike. At this point the wheel is junk in my mind, but I will give it a shot trying to fix it and see what happens.
No grease on profile or Madera drivers. They’re designed to be used without. The only thing that could be done is a tiny dab of clear oil in the pockets where the pawls sit. Hope this helps enough to earn your subscription
You can use the axle it's self to seat the driver side bearing into the shell. Once the bearing is seated just pull the axle out, flip it around, install from the non driver side, reinstall and tighten hardware.
Everything in this video is spot on! Try using a hammer that has weight, a Parktool HMR-4 with a plastic mallet is actually perfect for getting the job done without damage to components.
A dead blow hammer is far superior to any other hammer for working on bikes. I got one and it makes everything so much easier and it doesn’t damage anything
Dead blow hammers have metal pellets inside that move around and when the hammer hits something, all the pellets go forward and create a dead blow. This allows the hammer to impact and not bounce back like a rubber mallet. If that doesn’t make sense there is quit a few good videos on how they work
Profile doesn't grease or lube parts when installing trust me My maderas came with a tiny bit of surface rust due to no lube And storage and shipping humidity
Hey Brant! Love your professional approach to bmx tutorials, could you make a video on how to replace profile driver bearings? This procedure is quite scarce to find through youtube
I have a special freewheel, I dont know it can fit with your 9teeth racchet, I want you to see the photo of my freewhee and get your advice. can you help me?
Stuck bro. What to do if you have female axle and the jam nuts are the rounded type ? I've recently started riding again and have never had to replace anything in a hub before. Thanks & peace out from the UK
1:47 … so mine doesnt do that.(i don’t have the exact same hub but still similar) You just pulled the driver out like nothing, I’ve been tugging mine for ages and pulling it hard it still won’t come out
@Brant_Moore ok thanks for your reply.. it is really sad that i can't ride my bike because the nearest bike shops are 2 hrs away from us.:( and i only have 3 dollars left.
I started the process of removing the rear axle. After removing the jam nut on the drive side, I notice another jam nut in the drive that is flat on two sides (round nut with two flat sides), what can use to remove that?
It sounds like you need some vice grips for those axle nuts. If you 100% can’t get them loose you may have to use a cut off wheel and cut them. Trying to avoid hurting the threads
I would very much doubt it, unless you have access to a machinist who can make the shell fit a sealed bearing. But even then the chances of it working are pretty slim. You’d be better off finding a used hub. I’ve seen used profile hubs sell for 40$ before
Maybe you can use something to hit the axle/bearing out of the hub with the driver on since it’s broken. First though, is it broken on drive or non drive side
This is specific to profile and Madera cassette hubs. It may apply to some others but I haven’t tried any so I wouldn’t know or be able to recommend it for anything else.
How tf did you get the jam nut off with your hands, I can't even do it when I try putting both the axle nuts on the none drive side locking them and using a wench on the axle nut and another on the jam nut. It won't move one bit?
Not in profile/madera rear hubs. They are designed to function dry. If you use anything, it should only be a tiny amount of clear oil on the pocket where the pawl sits so that it can move freely. Here is an article on their site that mentions it. www.profileracing.com/tech-tip-22-a-clean-hub-is-a-happy-hub/ Hope it helps enough to earn your subscription
Seems like if you just sprayed the old bearing and both sides of the hub with disk brake cleaner and let it sit for 5-10mim. The old bearing would have come out a lot easier.
@@Brant_Moore I found what I needed in this video after 10+ videos from other accounts (4 from Profile). I appreciate the response and thank you for all of the helpful content.
Always nice to have a good reference video when working on the bike.
Great video. I didn't have the problem getting the old bearing out, thankfully. Perfect teaching for someone who hadn't replaced wheel bearings before. Many Thanks.
Hey thanks!! Glad to hear that you didn’t have troubles getting your bearing out as well. That can be a huge pain, as you saw. Haha
Thanks for the video. I just picked up a neighbors Miraaco bike from their trash. Rear hub is rusted. This vid will help me in removing and replacing both bearings.
Let me know how it goes! Hope it’s a fun project for you too
Thank you Brant Moore¡ Because of you, i successfully rebuilt my cheap wheel that no one is going to buy :')
There you go man! Turn that wheel back into a new wheel again! Long as the ratchet ring and flanges are good, the hub can be made to look like new
Thanks loads bud, saved me a trip to the shop and some hard earned tokens
Thank you young man. I’m a trained electro mechanical technician aka millwright, and used ya for a bit of reference. Great job
Well that’s really awesome to hear! Thanks for letting me know!
Thanks man best bearing replacement I have seen yet really helped me out thanks 😀😀

Thanks man!!! Glad it was of some use!
Best video I've seen ❤❤ thank you❤❤
Seriously well thought out, and explained. Thank you.

Very helpful video, do u need to grease the driver or can u leave it degreased and make it loud?
No grease on profile or Madera drivers. They’re designed to be used without.

Persistent s.o.b. thanks for not editing and filming the struggle
Hahaha gotta show people what they can be in for trying to get out drive side hub shell bearings!
Hey Brant! Love your professional approach to bmx tutorials, could you make a video on how to replace profile driver bearings? This procedure is quite scarce to find through youtube
Also, the procedure for this is slightly different with the hubguard seeing as its a press-on not thread on hubguard
I honestly have never done it and don’t know how. It seems like it would be pretty difficult
@Brant_Moore ive done it myself a couple times, but each time has been quite difficult without an arbor press
I have a special freewheel, I dont know it can fit with your 9teeth racchet, I want you to see the photo of my freewhee and get your advice. can you help me?
Thanks a bunch' I got alienation rim. I found out you hit it from the other side. Same concept tho.

After pressing my driver side bearing in I can’t get my driver out please help
Love your videos man keep it up!!!!!
Thanks buddy! Will do and lets ride soon so you can get some clips in one!
how do you change the bearings in the driver i need help with that
Does every hub have different bearing sizes?
A lot of them do have different sized bearings
hey does that bearing fit all hubs?
I would have to guess that they dont all use the same bearings. You could find out what size bearing they use by contacting the company though
@Brant_Moore ok thanks for your reply.. it is really sad that i can't ride my bike because the nearest bike shops are 2 hrs away from us.:( and i only have 3 dollars left.

@Brant_Moore can you convert a bmx cassette hub that is unsealed into a sealed bearing hub??? Or do i have to buy a sealed hub as an only option....
I would like to know if you can explain if thats possible or not???
I would very much doubt it, unless you have access to a machinist who can make the shell fit a sealed bearing. But even then the chances of it working are pretty slim.
You’d be better off finding a used hub. I’ve seen used profile hubs sell for 40$ before
I can’t say for sure whether or not it’s possible as I’ve never tried it.
I don’t think it would be worth finding out if it’s possible or not
Mad how far these bikes are going. Wonder if they will evolve much from these bearings
How do I remove a outer bearing race that is stuck in my bmx cassette? Please help
Bro how to remove does bearings from the driver?
Honestly I’m not sure, it seems like it will be a huge pain
My axle is snapped and the driver won’t just slide off any advice for that?
Maybe you can use something to hit the axle/bearing out of the hub with the driver on since it’s broken. First though, is it broken on drive or non drive side
This goes for all 9 tooth cassettes?
Except the Walmart cheapo one.

I bet this process is the same or similar for Profile Elite mtb hubs. Cool dude
Yep exactly the same just more pawls and springs in the driver to keep track of.
Sir please make a video how to remove the bearing inside of the driver, please thankyou
How tf did you get the jam nut off with your hands, I can't even do it when I try putting both the axle nuts on the none drive side locking them and using a wench on the axle nut and another on the jam nut. It won't move one bit?
I already had it loose or it was already broken loose before filming. Sometimes they’re on good

Not in profile/madera rear hubs. They are designed to function dry.

What website has the best price for the bearing. Cuz I've been looking and I can't find it anywhere?? Anybody got an idea?
Is that a Profile elite hub
Park tools hammer works good for that
Agreed! Shout out to Park Tool!!!
Smart kid 👌
Really good job explaining the details.
it's recommended to grease or lube the pawls and spring..... not to let them dry af
No, it’s not. Profile hubs are meant to not have grease in the pawls and springs. Look it up on profiles site👌🏼👌🏼
I want to change my left hand drive to right handed on cassette.
When u put ur drive side bearing u can just use ur normal nuts by putting them the other side so it putt the bearing without doing any damage
Seems like if you just sprayed the old bearing and both sides of the hub with disk brake cleaner and let it sit for 5-10mim. The old bearing would have come out a lot easier.
Noooice! 🤘🏾

I watched 10+ videos, trying to figure out which way to flip that driver shim. I watched five videos from Profile and they still didn't explain it.

Who is Binh Minh ToFu?
Can you use skate bored bearings ?
Definitely not. They are a specific size.
but who has a press to remove these parts especialy?
Not many people. That’s why I mention using a hammer
@@Brant_Moore yeah but its pretty scarry doing it that way but when you got to fix it you got to find a way thanks for amswering me @Brant_Moore
i can take the jam nut off cus the whole axel moves
took my bearing out in one it lol
Damn didn't even CLEAN it properly ouch
No lubricant in the driver?
Really?
Yep yep. That’s Profile’s recommendation and always has been
