Moog Source Analog Synthesizer from the year 1981
The Moog Source is a very nice synth and the first and only Moog to replaced the buttons with a membrane panel. And the first Z80 microprocessor-controlled Moog with patch memory.
The sound is fantastic, very deep and powerfull. I love the Sources incredible low end sound like the Moog Taurus 1. The best Taurus 1 emulation I have ever heard. In my ears better than the Taurus 3. The Source is perfect for very nice bass and lead sounds. For me one of the best monophonic analog synths ever.

I pulled mine out adfter more than 20 years and it still sounds great! AMazing it has two 88 note real-time sequencers when most modern keyboards have 16 or 32 note step sequencers.

I have one of these great little synths since 1981. Still works like a charm today. Doesn't get much love on the used market because you can only access one parameter at the time in real time. I used to beat the crap out of the PA back in the day when I used a low bass Taurus type of sound. It killed everything else available then ( and now). Only thing I regret doing is adding a 25Pole connector to it to add a bass pedal ( Rush fan :-) ) it worked but now I wish I had kept it in it's original state. I've started to use it again more lately and am thinking about adding an encore midi kit to it so I can control the filter ( I now use a Novation Bass station Rack as midi-CV translator).

RetroSound question I wanted to ask? When you turn that knob, I see a white digit counter go up and down in numbers. Is that a digital display or analog?. Just seeing white digits don’t fit the time scale.

Would love to see Moog re-issue the Source; but a knob stricken version, with patch memory, it would be the ultimate monosynth. Also, it would obliterate the LP. Source had a chasis design far ahead of its time. Too bad it had to follow the knobless design trend. Wish I had one! Great playing Marko!
