Korg Polysix Analog Synthesizer from the year 1982
part2: some typical self programmed Polysix sounds
The Korg Polysix is a very nice analog synths with a great sound. The sound is very different to the Juno synths.
The sound-character of the SSM filter, the Effect Sektion with Chorus, Phaser and Ensemble is really fantastic.
!!! The internal Ni/Cd accu has a leakage problem and destroy the circuit board. Remove the accu quickly! Check my page for more info.

The Korg Polysix Synthesizer from the year 1982 is a great polyphonic analog synth. For the most people the rival of the Roland Juno-60 but the sound character is very different. The P-6 sounds more like the 70s. Here can you find the full Polysix playlist with single sound demos and one synth demo tracks. Enjoy.

I keep coming back to watch PolySix vids. It’s the most unique sounding of the vintage boards to my ears. I keep my fingers crossed that it’s on Korg’s itinerary of vintage re-issues.

It seems like it is hard to get anything but cool sounds out of this synth! Sounds much more "vintage" than the Juno to my ears.

Thank you for demoing a synth I actually own. This way I can hear more of what I can make it sound like. Some of the sounds like the bells I would not have thought of. Now I can approach programming the synth knowing it has the potential to make sounds that I want to make. ✌

Such a great synth to learn with. I have multiple synths now and this one makes the most sense for a noob like me.

@@retrosound72 The simplicity of the early synths make programming a bit more intuitive. Companies are so competitive to include every bell and whistle now that it makes it intimidating to a newbie and half the features end up languishing in the perpetually unused bin.

How could I forget it, that I had written a long time ago, that I would be very anxious for Part 2? Now I am here again, and I have added also Part 2 to my favourites now. These 2 old legends, Korg Mono/Poly and Korg Polysix, they both sound so good, that they get my 5 stars now... ★★★★★

A really nice filter it has just as I remembered. And it's weight was also something remarkable on the road ...putting to stage wasn't easy. It was fit only on massive consoles. Thank's for the vid dude!

Excellent Synth Marco. The polysix can sound very rough edged , but soft elec. piano too, very very nice. I really like some of the string pads you make here :) Brilliant demo as always

  • @rg7120
    @rg7120 11 років тому +1

If you mostly play chords and need polyphony, the Polysix is better. If you want great monophonic sounds and occasionally want some pads or something, get the Monopoly. There is no perfect synth for everyone. I'd prefer the Monopoly, but a lot of people really love the Polysix.

Can’t wait to get my Polysix back from the synthspa! I’ve had it for 2 years with a missing voice, so every sixth note around (while in polyphonic mode) didn’t sound. It was depressing.
But getting it back next month supercharged w everything working, AND new real wood is gonna give me big stiffy. Hehe

I always enjoy your videos. Have have a question. I once saw an interview with Vince Clarke praising the Polysix, but criticizing th MonoPoly as the worst synth ever. What is your take on this statement?

    • @retrosound72

    Hey Retrosound72,
I used to own a P-6 but I never really did anything with it. I do remember some of the sounds that it had though.
In the first 45 seconds of this video is the oscillator setting at poly or unison?
It sounds to fat to be in poly mode

  • @keykrazy0

Hhhmmm.. That very first sound in the video seems really close to the intro notes to MJ's "Beat It". I wonder if the Synclavier folks simply sampled this (or a similar) synth from this era.
I mean i know the "Beat It" intro notes are played with a preset sound in the NED Synclavier, but i don't know if the Synclavier does it with sample(s) or by using it's (FM only?) synthesis. No big whoop, just a random thought...
