@R. M Nah you are just 1 finger melody guy that's not listening to the SOUND of a synth. I hear the attack, the filter, tone of the synth and i know what's up. Those basic functions define the synth it's 'sound'. And those are not preset sounds btw.
man I bet that song sounded banger and for some strange reason makes me want a milk shake but that has nothing to do with the song or the sample....unless.
This is the first demo of this synth I actually enjoy. Not sure why every synth guy on UA-cam tries to demo the most alien non-musical sound they can get out of an instrument. It’s refreshing to hear some chords and not some space beeping. That demo around 7 minutes gave me a super big Radiohead feeling.
pontram I mean I’m sure the Piano 9 patch on my DX7 sounds “mundane”, doesn’t mean I like the sound of it any less. If musical means mundane nowadays then I’ll be mundane all day long.
@@Evildandalo I meant mundane in a sense of sounding mediocre. Just not very memorable . Which is, in light of the price tag of both the instrument and it's player, a bit underwhelming.
What a pleasure to listen to an accomplished player demonstrating such a behemoth! And it's a such a good idea to put the moog in perspective by combining it with that delicate Vintage Vibe Rhodes. Chops meet sound, improv meets tech.
Absolutely fantastic. You sure show a whole other side of the Moog one that others aren’t really doing. That thing is so warm and colorful. Definitely on my bucket list right along with finally seeing you guys live.
I don't even play keys but I love these sounds. Very impressed with these chord voicings. Quite unique indeed. I play guitar and have well over a hundred different effects pedals mostly analog. A few digital as well but I just love new and interesting "tones". I like being a mad scientist of tonal exploration. Different sounds transport you to new arena' s in your mind and move you emotionally. Music is like a vast fabric of richly diverse dimensions of free form expression. So colorful. Tonality are the musician's pallet. Wielding a brush of expressive colors through sounds. Musicians are artists. I'm glad I came across your video. You can find a world of inspiration listening to instruments and artists your not normally accustomed to hearing. Well done sir! I am more blessed after hearing your art form!!!
My favorite part about that 40 second jam around 8:50 seconds is how you can see about 30 seconds in he knows where he's going with it. You can almost see the moment where he's like "ooo this is cool".
Mr Jonson, thanks so much! To my ears the Moog One sounds awesome! Really refreshing to hear someone with actual musical chops demoing this beast. Your patches definitely show a better picture of what this synth can do. I’m saving up, hope Moog keep making this long enough for me to grab one.
Love this video. The Moog One sounds incredible, but the EP is definitely a shining star. Loved that integration in this demo...I could listen to it all day! Thanks!
One of the things I love most with (good) sound design is that everyone comes up with their own unique patches, but it still retains the flavor of the synth. I also really liked the variety. (And your smile while playing matched the one I had while listening. Clearly enjoying the music and what the instrument and the artist are able to produce.). Thanks for the inspiration! Would love to be able to take some of your patches apart and see what I can learn from them!
Excellent keyboardist, excellent musician and spot on taste. Not only do we get to hear what this synth is capable of, but we get to hear it in the context of some fantastic progressions and playing (which is so important and so hard to find). Thank you!
I really loved your tunes back in the days! And also the whole car-o-philia thing and the videos ;) thank you for sharing this, the moog sounds great... and accompanying the orange beauty...niiice
Big warm thank you from Sydney, Aust. Beautifully showcased and yes, I want one. I also *really* love your Rhodes. Years ago I had a lot of fun playing around with Arp Axes and the mighty CP70b - great to hear classic analogue (even if much of it is digitised) in these highly digital times. Cheers and thanks - Dave
Thank you Matt, It’s so much fun to see/hear you play the keyboards, I’ve been a jamiroquai fan since day one, and only now I realize who’s the guy behind the sound I love so much, keep it going!
Thanks for that, Matt. I rarely (if ever), hear a synth being demo'd from the perspective of a jazz player. It was very refreshing to hear that synth played in more of a jazz context. Oh, and lastly; nice playing, too!
I own a Moog One and I would disagree in saying it’s the best analog I’ve ever heard. The Model D, Voyager, and Matriarch all have more pleasing core tones (and those are just Moog monosynths). The OB-6 also has a more pleasant core tone, though it’s limited in modulation and has pretty stale reverb and delay effects, compared to Moog’s Eventide ones.
Thanks for making the Moog one video you wanted to hear, because I wanted to hear it too. That thing's so thick it's almost too thick; it must take some EQ to make the most of. Thanks for chording up the joint like that. It really told me things about this synth that other vids haven't managed to.
Thank you ! Not only do you have beautiful tools you can actually play them! Which is rare for. Synth collectors - I can hear a lifetime in music by the way you play 🙌🏽
Dear Matt, please make demo's like this for al your amazing gear; you mention you are the owner of very amazing synths.. You are truly an amazing musician and look like a great guy! Would love to see more synth/key/gear reviews.
Love this!! Finally someone actually playing chord progressions on it without the over the top resonant/white noise swooshing and pulsing LFOs that could just as well have been made on the Sub 37. Actually sounds fantastic BTW but I can't help eying the Jupiter 8 and Rhodes on either side.
What a great sounding instrument. Would love to have one, one day. You've done a great job with this video, love hearing music being played on a synth rather than the typical bleepy bloops (although the bleepy bloops are great). Excellent playing! I very much enjoyed listening.
Btw! Your my kinda guy! Your frustration with the lack of quality videos lead too you making this wonderful one!!!! Thank you for the effort! I’m reinsured!;)$$
Matt!! I love this video!!!! I was fortunate enough to spend a few hours with the Moog One last year (I was sixteen at the time). What an incredible synth!!!!!!
Finally a Moog One demo that does her justice! I knew that there had to be some good stuff hiding in there. I suggest you do all the Moog demos from now on! ;)
6:07 The beginnings of an Jamiroquai: Ambient album ? Reminds me a bit of an album by Ray Lynch called "Deep Breakfast." His goal was to get critics (and the public) to see synthesizers as serious, useful instruments - and it worked. GREAT demo, mate. Cheers!
It just blew me mind how he talked about how tight the tuning can be on modern instruments which keep them from having that straight vintage like sound; cue the Prophet 5 Rev 4 which includes a knob called "vintage" that works in giving you that wonkiness he was talking about. God, why are great synths so expensive? I want them all! I can't even really play them to be honest and I still want them.
A rare video of a synthesizer being played by an actual musician.
You mean because he's not cheating with a sequencer?
And not by a neural network.
Omg thank you for actually playing chords, instead of just playing one note and turning knobs.. THANK YOU
Did you said something against LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER
?
I seriously hope not! :D
well gee, it's almost like a lot of synths are monophonic
@R. M lol what are you on? Synths are there to play music
This synth really was meant for people like you

Everyone who says they have heard it live, says it’s the best sounding analog synth they’ve heard.
@David Macdonald I can't really say since I haven't heard the Moog one live. My friends have , since they went to Moogfest this year.
