- Pokémon Legends: Arceus brings a bunch of changes to the typical Pokémon formula which means there's a lot to unpack and relearn! Pokémon: Legends Arceus is not a typical Pokémon game, at least the way we’ve come to understand them. Nintendo’s latest mainline release for the franchise has flipped the formula players may have expected, and the result is a Pokémon game with a lot of new things to learn and discover. This video breaks down several important tips, perfect for the new Pokémon trainer starting their journey.
First, we dive into battling tips, including the new “Agile” and “Strong” mechanics and how they can be tactically utilized depending on your goals. For example, if you want to weaken a Pokémon, some Agile moves may let you strike first and throw a Powerball all in the same sequence before your opponent can even attack.
We also look at different ways players can use the new mechanics in the game, such as riding Pokémon to reach areas previously inaccessible, or by being more aggressive during Noble Pokémon fights without fear of losing save progress or items upon failure.

I have been waiting for this kind of change to the move system. It made no sense why a Pokemon would forget moves they learned. This is by far the best implantation of learning and selecting moves in the series.
You can change it at will, as long as you got said move in your Mon’s arsenal.

Implementation
I hope Pokémon games continue to go in this direction
If I'm not mistaken they mentioned that Unova region doesn't exist yet, if we ever get another Legends game I would like it to be in Unova from the past, who know it might have a Wild West setting
Heading this direction will open the franchise to possible new and exciting gameplay to play with. With the next Pokemon Legends series, I'm pretty sure it will be a better one than Arceus.

My dream pokemon game would be the exploration of this game plus the fighting featured in pokken tournament.
Hopefully not, this looks pretty gimmicky. They can keep this as a spin off series
I’m a Pokémon player since the red and blue days, I feel like my knowledge of all the previous games has helped me to some extent. But this is an entire new expire for us older players and even younger players! It’s really refreshing to have something different than the same old style. Although Pokémon will always hold a special place in my heart. I’m loving it and I hope they continue in the future to take advantage of this new experience

You haven't even mentioned what the negatives you've heard about are, so how can we tell you if they're true?
If a Pokemon gets angry and spots you, you still have more options than just fight or flee, as you said in your video (around @2:40). You can stun them with items too. 4 sticky globs seems to always be enough to stun any alpha, for example.
This!!! I absolutely needed to know this before I played
I hope they use this concept of gameplay with the next "Main" series game. The flow of the world, the freedom to battle and catch on the fly, it all with another go at it could be even better and make it feel like a true open world pokemon game that the fans have been asking for. This was a really good step towards what fans have wanted and I am glad that they experimented with it to such a success.

Really contemplating in buying this game. Since I stopped playing Pokémon after Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire. As the later games came out they just didn't entice me to want to play them. Even though I'm up to speed with mega-evolution,Dynamax and Z-moves.
But MORE open. No more being locked areas. Let us find more creative ways to complete story goals. I hate not being able to go over a tall hill, for example. I want a full open world.
@@abagfullofcats4247 what are you talking about? After a while you get a partner Pokémon that lets you climb mountains and a bird partner that keys you fly! Pretty open if you ask me
@@shiningrayquaza8095 I mean that I want to be able to walk, climb, fly, swim between all the regions without being told I can’t go any further. I want it to be a completely open world.
Here’s a couple more tips I wish I’d known when starting:
*1.* Poke Centers have yet to be invented. In order to heal your whole party for free, you can rest at a camp to revive and heal all the pokémon in your party
*2.* During battle, as oppose to using the up/down D-pad buttons to switch pokemon or use items, it’s far quicker to use the L and R to choose between your items or pokemon to switch or use (press X to switch between pokemon and items)
*3.* To expand upon the previous tip, if you go into your settings and disable “ZR button confirmation” it will disable the prompt given when you want to use said item or switch out pokemon, thus making it even quicker (just be careful not to input ZR accidentally to avoid unwanted actions!)
*4.* Also in settings, motion sensitivity is set to 0 by default. If you’re a fan of motion controls, turning this up to 1 or more will activate them
*5a.* When you have your first battle with Akari you will learn about type matchups. A detailed graph is shown for every single type matchup - if you’re like me and can’t memorize 20 different pokemon type’s strengths and weaknesses, take a screenshot for each of the two graphs shown. This way whenever you’re unsure of what type pokemon to use for a battle, here’s what to do:
*5b.* Before battling, focus on the pokemon using ZL and press down on D-pad to open its pokédex page, press A twice and it’s type will be shown at the top right of it’s summary tab. Then go to your switch home menu (your game will freeze in place whenever you go to your home menu), go to your album and check the graph in your screenshots to quickly and easily find the best type to use against the pokemon you’re about to face
*6.* Going on from the previous tip, if you’re ahead of that point and didn’t screenshot it, you can access every survey tip via the pause menu in the “Help” tab. Yes you could just look up the type matchups there, but I find it to be far quicker to go to the album in the switch home menu. That, and there are points (like mid battle) where you cannot open your menu to check your old survey tips

I just took pics with my phone.
Another tip: you don't need to complete literally every pokedex task to complete the pokedex. You just need to get 10 points worth. Jury is still out on how many points everything gives you.
If you complete all the task for a certain pokemon, the rate of a shiny showing up will increase.
There is a box next to the task. If the box has the red arrows in it, every task is worth 2 points. The rest are worth 1 point
If you get perfect 10s, shiny encounters up significantly
Going forward all Pokémon games need this setup love being able to see the monsters in real time that way I know if I should engage or go on my way
I got a thunderstone while farming a red rock, i guess the drop rate is super low but if you're lucky you can get them by farming

i got like a thunderstones and 2 dawstones just by mining everything i saw, but i yeeted myself of a cliff and lost them all T_T

IF YOU SEE A SHINY, DONT ENGAGE IN A BATTLE!!!! I saw one, forgot how easily they run away if they spot you, and lost it, lol.
Save right away so you can restart if you fail it and it should still be there.

Same, you can choose when to do it in case you want to fill that Mon’s Dex entry.
Thier are some pokemon I prefer in thier pre evolution form. Some have requirements like bonseley must learn mimic but the majority evolve thru levelling. Even friendship evolutions like evee can surprise you when they sudently evolve even when you didn't use something like sooth bell or vitimin items. Having the evolution optionis without everstone is nice especially when you would rather use a diferent equip item for battle.

Catching a level 50 alpha sliggoo when your next highest is 35, snuck up, razz berry, leaden ball. Such a great feeling, also, alpha sized goodra is insane.
I’ve played all of the Pokémon games and I’m super happy with the direction they took this game. I think it could use a bit of polishing but for such a drastic change to the existing norm, I think they did an awesome job. Excited to see how they continue to develop this idea going forward
Help other players by making picking up satchels a priority. You can redeem merit points for stones so it helps both and you get items for finding them, too
Me initially playing: “Imma make my main squad only alpha Pokémon”

As far as this game in the series goes. It's a step in the right direction in making Pokémon feel new again. Hope this isn't a one time gimmick like Mega-evolution"
Plus it's the first Pokémon game where the world truly feels vast compared to other titles,where despite the size of your environment. You can't explore all that much.
Mega evos weren't 1-time, they are in both gens 6 and 7 🤓
On a serious note, yeah, I REALLY like the more open nature of the game. It's kinda like Sw/Sh's wild area but it's the entire game, and Legends Arceus is built around that, e.g the stealth and overworld catching.
8:02 It's not the only way to get evolution stones/items, you can find all of them by just playing through the game. They often appear in the Space-Time distortion zones, and you can also get some of them as rewards for completing certain side quests.
There's a lot of previous years' worth of experience I took into this game that really helped me early. However, this has had a very refreshing learning curve that I enjoy. It feels so much more real and immersive. Also I was randomly strolling and found a shiny Psyduck which was dope lol

i got evolution stones (fire stones) twice from farming stones for pokeballs. i guess there is a SMALL chance for them to drop. this happen in the second region maybe the chance gets greater later in game 🤷🏼♂️
edit: i just got stardust (its sternenstaub in german) by farming stones with a glitter effect so maybe the stones that drop something extra are marked by that effect. i dont think theyd have that effect only for stardust.

The only reason that I am ok with it is because it was the professor who went to places like Johto and Unova which I think could be more advanced technologically than Hisui since it seems like the Diamond and Pearl clans are even farther behind technologically than the galaxy group it would be great to see other games taking place in Unova that is more of a colonial period US since it’s based off New York
I’ve been having so much fun! Most fun I’ve had with a Pokemon title since Red and Blue. The gameplay loop is so simple but so fun. Haven’t gotten tired of it yet.
I personally love where they've taken this IP. I started playing Pokémon, like many, in 1998 at the age of 10.
While I adored most of the early entries into the series. I haven't even bothered to buy many of the recent entries as they're to far removed from the original experience. Some didn't even include battles... No thanks.
But, I love where they've taken Archeus. This will be the first Pokémon title I'm excited about, and will play, in over 10 years. I think they nailed it.
I would have enjoyed even more Pokémon, but unless they release a version in this format with all 800+, I'll take what I can get
i absolutely love this game, i hope one day there will be a future game with this same concept, but we can actually battle as the pokémon. i’ve always wanted a new game like that one on the wii

I love Legends of Arceus! I want to see Pokémon 2023 be a mainstay Pokémon game but with the exploration that they have in this game! They could easily add a bunch of trainers as some sort of “Pokémon” and when they notice you they engage you in battle by tossing a Pokémon and some verbal dialogue that is spoken out via audio. Something like “Ah-hah! A Trainer” and “Let’s Battle”…..
You can also get evolutionairy stones from defeating alpha's!
Evolution stones/items can also be found in rifts and will occasionally drop from the crystals (stones?) that your Pokemon headbutts for supplies.
You can obtain evolution stones through space-time distortions like how some other evolution items are gotten. However, the Merit Point thing still helps if you are struggling to get some items you need.
I've been hearing a lot about this game, now I see why! This is an amazing take on pokemon!
Actually, evolving your Pokemon sooner isn't always better. There are some Pokedex entries that asks you to see certain moves. Which also includes your own Pokemon. That means you could hold off on evolving your Pokemon/starters until you finish those entries. That way you don't have to backtrack and catch another of the same Pokemon just to finish the entries.
Couple key pointers missed here.
Evolutionary items have a chance to be found on the ground Inside space-time rifts. You'll be notified on screen when one appears.
Each pokemon has a mission page in the dex that are tasks for you to complete. Each dex entry needs to be level 10 in order to receive the shiny charm once you catch every pokemon.
Move modifiers cost 2 PP whe you use agile or strong style
2 exists so you can complete pokedex entries for specific pokemon before they evolve. So whilst yeah, it's nice to evolve them immediately, I wouldn't until you've got the pokedex entries to 10, then evolve them. :D

1 small correction to make: you can sometimes find evolution items in space-time distortions as well.
also just in general farming spots, though they're rare and i think they have to be sparkling or bouncing first
When the eye pops up, you can use items like spoiled apricorns to stun them and make them easy to catch all in one
Just an fyi for anyone who doesn’t know, you can get evolution stones from foraging and from rifts. They’re just super rare while foraging, but they’re only somewhat rare in rifts👍🏻

Here's a topic of discussion... is it a prequel? You play as a modern character who has fallen back through time... so nomatter when it takes place, it's still a continuation... right?
True, but it is a prequel of sorts in the sense you see the prequel era of sinnoh.
If you use the agile or strong on a status ailment move it does have an effect on the strength (possibly length also) of the status inflicted. Like poison gas would be more like toxic with the strong attribute and toxic would be more like poison gas if it used the agile. Although the turn thing is still in play
You definitely can find evolutionary stones in the wild. Destroying sparkling tumblestones and the like, can net you the stones. It's random mind you, but there's nothing in the MP store you can't get in game.
I am very happy about #9 - I thought it was a great idea in TemTem and Pokemon should please also use that idea.
I don't see any downsides.
I remember playing red in 99 and silver after that when I was 15 I just bought myself a switch for Christmas and got let's go eve I finished it and just got this one 2 days ago and boy these games came a long way I am so addicted
you can also get stones (fire, thunder, etc.) from mining ore deposits, snow piles, and other mineable objects. I've never bought a stone, but I have a dozen or so assorted stones in my inventory form collecting while I explored and completed missions. if you are looking for a specific stone, buying might be the way to go, but if you just collect things while you play, you will accumulate them.
One thing I did learn from this game Take your time!

I find that most of the time you can battle an aggressive Pokemon and just toss the pokeball right away to catch it with lower it's health.
Pokemon had never felt more real than they do now. This is gonna be a great new love of Pokemon
You can actually get some of the stones by using Ursaluna to hunt for some and by going into the time warps. They will appear randomly in those space and time distortions.
Waiting for a Soul Silver re-remake with this kind of gameplay
That and the original red/blue games would be amazing
I love how you can evolve certain Pokémon without trading (now anyone can have their Alakazam’s, Machamp’s, Dusknoir’s, Porygon-2’s/Z’s, etc).
Because I have never had friends to trade with😔.
At first I didn't know you could change the pokemon's moves, so most of my pokemon had the weak beggining moves until about the third act when I finally figured out how to change them XD
Hey have been playing a few days - I've gotten level up stones while out farming resources and attacking and capturing pokemon so was able to get a flareon without having to grind the satchels and later a jolteon and a vaporeon :D
I wish I knew we had to do certain requests before a certain point in the game. For example: I did the Bidoof one and saw them hang out with the construction corps but then they left without ever building the building where the kids sit on the wooden boards near the pastures. My friends also had that problem.
Hope future games are this engine but old style of game with whole evil team/gym crawl style but this mechanics. Would be real fun
i love this new suprize catch feature, you dint have to do a 5 minute battle to catch one but catch 5 at once
Actually about the evolution stones, you don’t have to buy them using merit points, you can actually get them from defeating Pokémon and breaking rocks, I would recommend going to a camp immediately and putting the stone in your storage! I made the mistake of not doing that, dying, and losing the stones in the process :’)
It might be me, but their description of equipping moves seemed like they were saying that you have to teach the Pokemon moves at the Dojo/Training Grounds, which are effectively TM moves, in order to get more than 4. If so, that is partially incorrect. It will learn moves as it levels, and you can change its moves when it has more than 5. You can also pay to have them learn more moves at the Dojo/Training Grounds These were things you could figure out easily if you were paying attention as well. Most of them are even explained. I figured out about the sprinting/dashing having an invisible meter within the first few minutes of being able to do so.
There is one bit of information that some may not have realized. If your team gets wiped out, you don't black out. You can still run around the field with all of your Pokemon knocked out.
All that said, I love the direction they've taken with this game. It would be extremely refreshing if they, in the event they make another generation, use some of the aspects from this game within it.
Fun tip for anyone struggling with Kleavor. Utilize the tree. And sending Pokemon at it, isn't necessary.
I've noticed that spacetime distortions have two stages, and the rare Pokémon and items are only found in the second one. When a distortion first forms, it'll be in the first stage, where the dome appears and the lighting inside changes but nothing you find inside is different. Look for the messages "a spacetime distortion seems to be forming" (first stage) and "a spacetime distortion has appeared" (second stage).
Yeah it's to give you time to find the distortions and travel to them while they're still forming
Got a few evolution stones from random ore nodes. I feel like the ones with geodudes shaking in them have a higher chance.
They're also attainable in the Space/Time rifts that start spawning a bit after you defeat the first noble. The rifts spawn a bunch of items when they appear, which are usually colored shards, but also can be any of the items from the merit point store
@@Slowrath yeah I found that too. Including dusk, dawn, the Evo items, ect. Much better way than the merit points. Still no razor claw..
@@7Wolf77 I got the razor claw in the Space Time rifts, but instead of finding it on the ground as a drop, I got it after battling Sneasels in the first area' rifts. I think it doesn't matter if you catch or defeat them, they occasionally drop the claw

Evolution stones also appear as random drops by defeating pokemon and from mineral deposits.
You can get evolution items from the space time distortions as well
I hope the "Legends" branding becomes a continuous thing, just like the main entries.

After the severe disappointment in BDSP (not to mention the incredible waste of money), I was super skeptical about this one. However, I feel like this game sets a new bar for Pokémon games. I absolutely love the game and the way it works. The only thing so far that I want to see in future games is the breeding system, and maybe bringing IVs back.
The no breeding was surprizing. I feel sence this is anciant and pokemon are not tamed breedin and such would not exsist and no abillities kinda goes along with the little knowledge they had on pokemon at this point. Some sed they couldn't imagine playing without these features but breeding was not around in g1 and it wasn't till g3 that abillities wer created.

To add on to the day-night cycle, you can rest until a certain part of day.
So idk the odds but I ran I to a shiny starly threw a ball at it failed to catch it went into battle only for it to run away.
Evolution stones can be obtained through Shining minerals. Red shining ores can give fire stone and so on

I don’t think I will ever be able to pick up the old games after playing Arceus. It’s so much fun. I don’t think I could ever go back with how slow the older games are.
I like how at the end you sacrificed Scyther to the Gengar so you could run away
