One of the aspects that I’ve really enjoyed that you touched on in the video is that, in this game, I no longer have to depend on trading to complete my Dex. I felt like systems like the GTS are just incredibly unreliable to get Pokemon you actually want.
Here's a funny "exploit-ish" trick: with how Wyrdeer works, you can actually kind of Climb certain hills by mashing the Jump button and going against it. It isn't much useful after getting Sneasler, but hey, I was able to cheat a bit trough the second area with that.
What a coincidence that a few hours after I got my copy for the game you upload tips for a new playthrough and all of them have been helpful so far. Thanks for all your hard work, Austin. Keep up the good work.
Yo, your first pasture has a few wurmple in it, but one of those wurmple in your box 1 was a shiny wurmple! This was hard to spot because the camera covers it a bit, but it's unmistakable that the lineup has 4 wurmple next to each other and the leftmost one has purple instead of red. Thought i'd mention it since you have a dedicated shiny box and that bad boy isn't in it, would really suck if you mass released it on accident or something because it was in the wrong box! Also, great video, there's some pretty good tips in here that'll help new players a lot!
Sooooo if Arkoos sends us back in time, then could we be like the Flash and create a flashpoint paradox and a whole new-WHAT IF WE CREATE THE TIMELINE WHERE MEGA EVOLUTION EXISTS? Remember there's an established lore of two timelines-MULTIPLE timelines in fact. What if Arkoos sending us back in time is what CHANGES the future?! Causes people to want to understand Pokemon enough to learn their full potential as partners which lead to things like mega evolution, gigantamaxing, z-moves ,DNA fusions?
I got the game last night, but I waited to start playing until today. Super excited to get into the deep end. Btw, if you want to know; I got Chimchar already. It was just a rare spawn in the area where you first encounter Geodude and Stantler.
10:21 Heads up, while some of these requests like the Buizel one you can give them Alpha Pokémon some quests like the Wurmple one will NOT allow you to give them Alpha Pokémon. (I found that out after restarting.)
Damn my friend wanted to try that too I'll let him know, would've been hilarious. But the mushroom guy at least CAN be given an alpha Parasect and it's hilarious, thing takes up the back half of the whole house XD
I think I’ve been watching for about 5-6ish years. So happy that the game we’ve all been asking for is here and you now have another game to make a 500 vid tutorial series like BOTW. We can only hope for that much content over time.
The Myth, The Legend, the unstoppable Pokémon info power force, Austin John! Dude you’ve been putting out content steady and I’m loving it! It’s really an inspiration
Dude, I love the idea of not having a set team! I've always hated picking favourites when I wanted to try new! So this will give me a chance to try things out.
For those that don't know Phonology. A C before an E is pronounces like an S or Ts sound. So Arceus is pronounced that way, not with a K sound. Game Freak doesn't know what they talk about. The japanese Name has an S in it and not a K what is the reason why Arceus is written with a C and not with a K. What do you want as support for that argument? Phonological rules that apply to the whole language and are even across languages or a person from Game Freak?
18:20 And something I would recommend is when your in a sticky situation in a battle(this only works for wild Pokemon, not trainer battles), stay in the battle but run away in the overworld, it puts you at a better distance away and the fight will auto close once you’re far enough away. It makes getting away a lot safer.
FYI FOR ANYONE USING THE FARM. The harvests aren't time-based, they finish after youve caught a certain number of pokemon. For the nature mints it's 20. So catch 20 pokemon, get your mints, repeat.
I've only recently gotten into Pokémon, really diving in with Brilliant Diamond and they've felt very overwhelming to me. Your videos have helped so much with ease of access to these games for newbies like me, so I wanted to thank you for that!
My mum preordered this game for me before Christmas, and I'm super stoked to get the game, thanks for the tips, I know I'll make stupid mistakes without them
I guess one good thing about the terrible graphics and really bad render distance in this game is that loading time is reduced dramatically. I remember the first time i fast traveled and i got up to do a stretch cuz i thought it would take the same amount of time as like BOTW but nah it was like instant.
@@kozmikarp6637 hell nah, looks less than gen 8 and yet loads faster than bdsp which is a simpler game lol. I really hate the artstyle of this game with everything looking washed out but the gameplay saves it
@@kozmikarp6637 @Kozmikarp Yeah but compared to other main releases and even indie games it looks... eh. not good. And the render distance isn't something you can argue with though that is an issue. even if you dont mind the bad graphics like me, i genuinely dont mind bad graphics, its mostly the VERY noticeable render distance. And its not the switch limiting it. BOTW was made for wii u. its just gamefreak not knowing how to optimize their games. It's been known for a very long time now that they are terrible at graphics but the render distance in this game is annoying.
God I hope there is a tip as for how to convince myself to keep moving forward and move on from catching my 8 millionth bidoof. I am loving this game so much!
I've just caught the Alpha Kricketune, boy it's big 😂😂 The farm is a good idea, I want to use it asap. I've been trying to do the side quests before carrying on with the main story. My only issue is the professor holding off on handing you the other starters (after you caught them) until post-game.
This game is so freaking amazing. I haven't played since pokemon X and Y. Thus got me back in. I love how they got rid of EV and IV as I was never a fan, i love easy changing natures, no stupid held items. I love being able to max out the pokemon I actually adventures with as well. Cons: graphics and very generic environments. I also believe gamefreak could've made the pokemon interact more with their environment, like have them swimming, climbing trees, etc., pretty much acting like animals. I also wish they didn't get rid of hidden abilities which were cool, but I do admit it helps keep the grind down.
I always love your tips videos. Straight to the point. Helpful. No spoilers as promised. Plus I can always feel your love for the game. You know when to point out features fans will generally love. And how to avoid features fans will generally dislike. Thanks again man
Great Video! Thank you for showing how you organized your pasture! It was a huge help! Something I’ve learned is to regularly release the Pokémon you aren’t going to use, and when they leave, they leave you with Dirt Gravel, rocks and pebbles. Which is great for those of you who are trying to build up certain pokemons’ stats and you get it FOR FREE!!
Me too with oshawott. I wanted all three starters, but it’s too much effort and I’ll wait for postgame. Don’t really have a team in mind, but I like it that way.
I love that this man this absolute chad even after the game has released worldwide still makes sure not to spoil even just the new starter final forms even tho he already made a video on them for the people who want to keep the surprise while playing the game and can't get it immediately (like me for example) thank you dude
One of my top tips, and it sounds quite silly, but once you are able to use Wyrdeer, you can use it's jump to access some early game spots which regularly you can't on foot!
Don’t know if anyone has posted this or not, but for those who it bothers, you can go into the switch’s button remapping and swap the up button and the plus button so that the plus pulls up your menu. Feels a lot more natural for me anyway.
I live watching you get so excited, and I'm so happy to have a pokemon game I can 100% while being my introverted self, as well as very grateful for this early game tips as my 27 years of playing pokemon is of very little use for this game and I absolutely love it!!! I got so lucky after I beat Kleavor. I found and caught a randomly spawned alpha Eevee with a timid nature and evolved it into Jolteon, which is my favorite pokemon. I was already getting close to having enough MP to buy the thunderstone and evolve my regular Eevee when I found it.
Played 5 hours last night, so excited to get off work to play the rest of the day! Loved my time with it so far, going to be a good weekend. Thanks for the tips!
I just started playing and being able to change moves is amazing! I always like the super strong all out moves but never kept them since they aren’t good for long battles like elite four. This now allows me to have way more fun with my move set! Very exciting!!
I am very happy with this game. So far I'm enjoying it a lot. I hope they build on this and release more games. I'd even happily pay for additional DLC content. After the ultimate letdown that was sword and shield I had given up hope. Wish they'd make the main line games like this.

The ability to change your move set and choose if you want to evolve your Pokémon is awesome. Very helpful tips, definitely have to go get the rest of my stuff from Mystery Gift.
Excellent game. The ultimate Pokémon game would be basically this combined with the competitive format of sword and shield. This definitely sets the blueprint down for future games.
I swear the Linking Cord is one of the best features in the game imo, it should’ve been in all the other games as well. Especially because I always want Alakazam, Machamp and Golem… Edit: what’s your favorite team? Mine is: - Ampharos - Crobat - Golem - Alakazam - Gyarados - Typhlosion/Infernape/Charizard
This is my favorite Pokemon game of all time. Just like how botw is my favorite Zelda game, I would argue are not really "traditional" games and can't really be compared with the rest of the franchise.
Why does no one share that you can buy pokeball crafting supplies and recipes from the guy in the far left shop in town? If you did say this, I somehow missed it watching it all the way through. That would’ve been REALLY helpful to know
Same, even in the older games, I always switched in and out Pokémon in my team, so I usually hatch/hunt 8-10 shiny Pokémon to use throughout my gameplays
I’m so thankful that you care so much about not spoiling things for people. Sadly, I’ve seen lots of spoilers already, but you going out of your way to make sure you accidentally don’t spoil the game is admirable.
It's been said before but that Linking cord needs to be in every game going forward, that way everybody has an option, if you want to trade, don't use it. If you don't want to trade or can't trade for whatever reason, you at least have an option now. But give it a bit of a heafty price tag so that you have to earn it.
apparently if u want to mint farm, after placing a mint farm order, go to fields and take 20 pokemon. then return to him and it is done farming. then u can order again. other farm order needs lower number of Pokémon to catch before it becomes ready like 15 and 10. goodluck

In the crimson mirelands if you want goodra if you jump with wyrdeer you get get goomy early
And you can battle alpha sligoo
What a coincidence that a few hours after I got my copy for the game you upload tips for a new playthrough and all of them have been helpful so far. Thanks for all your hard work, Austin. Keep up the good work.
Crazy coincidence for something like that to happen on launch day...
@@VooDooDeeZy lol
Maybe I shouldn't have said a coincidence and should've just said that it's helpful that he uploaded this before I start playing the game so my bad.
@@ezesmasher8955 maybe I shouldn't be such a troll. Anyways looking forward to starting up tonight after work
@@VooDooDeeZy Don't worry about it, dude.
What if us getting sent back into time is what kick started Events of Pokémon canon in general ?.
we already know there are multiple timelines. that or parrallel universees. that explains the events of S&M vs USUM
Arkoos?
....huh. I wonder.
*Goes back in time to allow AZ to fire the machine*
Sorry thousands of innocent lives! But the fans. Want. MEGAS.
@@SouthfieldJodye THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYIN!!!! The implications are wild.
I got the game last night, but I waited to start playing until today. Super excited to get into the deep end.
Btw, if you want to know; I got Chimchar already. It was just a rare spawn in the area where you first encounter Geodude and Stantler.
10:21
Heads up, while some of these requests like the Buizel one you can give them Alpha Pokémon some quests like the Wurmple one will NOT allow you to give them Alpha Pokémon. (I found that out after restarting.)
Damn my friend wanted to try that too I'll let him know, would've been hilarious. But the mushroom guy at least CAN be given an alpha Parasect and it's hilarious, thing takes up the back half of the whole house XD
All Austins reactions mirror exactly what I do/feel when coming across something awesome. Love it
I think I’ve been watching for about 5-6ish years.
The farm is so damn worth! I found it the moment I started and kept updating it and using it. It’s definitely worth upgrading it as soon as you can.
They used to say “Arse” but they started to say “ark” once they realized god’s name sounded like British slang for butts. Lol
@@AustinJohnPlays Yeah, that swept over to Germany where that word isn't really a problem.
18:20 And something I would recommend is when your in a sticky situation in a battle(this only works for wild Pokemon, not trainer battles), stay in the battle but run away in the overworld, it puts you at a better distance away and the fight will auto close once you’re far enough away. It makes getting away a lot safer.
Killing it as always Austin! Thanks for letting us know about the mints! Really looking forward to all of the Mystery Gift Pokémon!
I love that the foreshadowing of geodude basically was like here’s a shiny one!
My mum preordered this game for me before Christmas, and I'm super stoked to get the game, thanks for the tips, I know I'll make stupid mistakes without them
The shiny rates in this are great. Unfortunately I failed my second one because I forgot cascoon was not pink.
I’ve been waiting for this! Always keep up the good content Austin!
I guess one good thing about the terrible graphics and really bad render distance in this game is that loading time is reduced dramatically.
I remember the first time i fast traveled and i got up to do a stretch cuz i thought it would take the same amount of time as like BOTW but nah it was like instant.
Do you really dislike the graphics? I think it looks cool, at least a lot cooler than BDSP or SWSH
@@kozmikarp6637 looks cool? Looks like trash most of the time
God I hope there is a tip as for how to convince myself to keep moving forward and move on from catching my 8 millionth bidoof. I am loving this game so much!
Like PLEASE I literally just want to keep hoarding Pokémon. The repetitive system has jailed me to my console, there is no turning back
I will be starting my gameplay after work! Been playing Pokémon for 20+ years, really appreciate these tips!🥰 Can't wait!
When I was looking through the evolution items and saw the linking cable I laughed so hard and literally said out loud “am I playing a rom hack?!” 🤣🤣
Link item first appeared in pokemon red & blue mystery dungeons
I really like your method of organising boxes. Never thought of separating them based on evolution stage.
I've just caught the Alpha Kricketune, boy it's big 😂😂
The farm is a good idea, I want to use it asap.
I've been trying to do the side quests before carrying on with the main story.
My only issue is the professor holding off on handing you the other starters (after you caught them) until post-game.
Technically the post credits roll after you get 5 stars so if you dont beat the actual story and grind stars you can get them before beating the story
@@jinacy I don’t remember seeing credits and I’m 6 star rank 😥
@@sunnybrodelightschannel1207 so am I lol we were lied to🙃
@@jinacy okay that makes sense 😅😭
This game is so freaking amazing. I haven't played since pokemon X and Y. Thus got me back in. I love how they got rid of EV and IV as I was never a fan, i love easy changing natures, no stupid held items. I love being able to max out the pokemon I actually adventures with as well.
Cons: graphics and very generic environments. I also believe gamefreak could've made the pokemon interact more with their environment, like have them swimming, climbing trees, etc., pretty much acting like animals. I also wish they didn't get rid of hidden abilities which were cool, but I do admit it helps keep the grind down.
I loved how I caught my first shiny 20 min into the game
I always love your tips videos. Straight to the point. Helpful. No spoilers as promised. Plus I can always feel your love for the game. You know when to point out features fans will generally love. And how to avoid features fans will generally dislike. Thanks again man
Amazed at how easy they made it for the new players but still enjoyable. I haven't stopped playing since this morning.
So when my Pokédex entry for a Pokémon is on level 10, what are the reasons to finish the remaining Pokédex quests for this Pokémon?
“$1000 for grabbing some wood.” And I thought this was a family channel.
The only one I'm going to keep no matter what is Rowlet. I'm gonna be changing my team out so often
Me too with oshawott. I wanted all three starters, but it’s too much effort and I’ll wait for postgame. Don’t really have a team in mind, but I like it that way.
16:17 I thought Austin was referring to Bagon, my favorite pokemon who's not in the game 😭😂
Thanks for all the tips! You really help out lots of new players so thank you :)
Thank you thank you thank you!!!! 🥰
I never thought I'd play a pokemon game that made me think lol
20:20 i had something similar happen to me today. Saw one of those ores shaking for the first time and broke it out of curiosity. Boom. Shiny Geodude. Was pleasantly surprised.
Bro Austin John I've been watching for a while now and my man I must say you are knocking it out of the park lately with this helpful content. Thank you!! Keep killing it
I got so lucky after I beat Kleavor.
You can make the Pokémon turn around by throwing a ball behind them kinda like the stealth throwing rocks to distract thing.
I'm hyped for playing this game.
Me too!
same
Same here! 🙋🏻♀️
I just started playing and being able to change moves is amazing! I always like the super strong all out moves but never kept them since they aren’t good for long battles like elite four. This now allows me to have way more fun with my move set! Very exciting!!
I can’t wait to play to play this game, it looks so fun😆
i just grabbed mine and im going to play it later on
im surprised that a single, tiny little game cartridge has a massive game inside of it
I am very happy with this game. So far I'm enjoying it a lot. I hope they build on this and release more games. I'd even happily pay for additional DLC content.
After the ultimate letdown that was sword and shield I had given up hope. Wish they'd make the main line games like this.
@@shinydoubloon8237 u like it? ☺️
@@lootador of course! my team is already around level 29-34, i defeated Kleavor, recently got the Ursaluna mount, almost at the Lilligant boss and im also about to hit research level 4!
Being seven stars before Kleavor is goals. I'm only at two stars, but making my way. Exploring is so fun, even in the first area
This game has been great, first game I ever walked into a full odds shiny. Was walking along the riverside and saw a Bibarrel, I didn't have a dex entry for it no evolved bidoof or anything, and noticed it looked a bit odd. Thinking it was the lighting I was, might as well check. Didn't hear the noise but boom shiny
Watching an Austin John Plays tips video on 2x playback speed feels like cramming for a test, but the information stays with you instead of the minute the test is over. Very nice videos!
I'm going to be playing rn .. FINALLY! Thank you for being the best source of information so far. A lot of tubers doing playthroughs. But I absolutely love the Austin John's approach. Hitting people upside the head with facts like a pokeball. 👍🤣
Decided to start a fresh save, so I had to delete the old one... Didn't realise the special outfits couldn't be redeemed again 😣
Just start playing 2 hours ago. Thanks for the tips my man! Love the content like always!
Are you liking it so far?
Yes. Its different. Kinda long intro but you will need it to explain everything so you can go free in the world. Its a very good game in my opinion
@@speklapjess I agree. I’ve been playing since yesterday and I’m loving it. Lots to do. Satchels, time distortion, Pokédex, alphas, shinies, team building … etc. lots of variety.
something neat is that for the farmer quest, it doesnt even have to be a water pokemon, it just needs a water move. Bidoof can know water moves :)
It only took them 8 generations to default text speed to fast, this is great! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm 27 and played every pokemin game since red blue when I was 6 years old and I have to admit this is the best pokemin game we've ever gotten, and it opens the door for future titles which is a hype all on its own!
"All the buttons do something!"
That's all it takes to please a Pokemon fan in 2022
Dan! I did an AustinJohns….30 hours and yet to beat the first boss!! Absolutely loving this game! And hope it’s successful enough for more Pokémon games to take chances like this 🎉🎉
Been playing Pokémon since Red/Blue dropped in the US. And let me say, I never thought I’d see a Pokémon game like this. Ever. So many changes, both large and small. The ability to change your move set and choose if you want to evolve your Pokémon is awesome. Very helpful tips, definitely have to go get the rest of my stuff from Mystery Gift.
Ive always wanted a pokemon game thats so detailed like this and this legends exceded my expectations. Love it
Excellent game. The ultimate Pokémon game would be basically this combined with the competitive format of sword and shield. This definitely sets the blueprint down for future games.
I swear the Linking Cord is one of the best features in the game imo, it should’ve been in all the other games as well.
Especially because I always want Alakazam, Machamp and Golem…
Edit: what’s your favorite team?
Mine is:
- Ampharos
- Crobat
- Golem
- Alakazam
- Gyarados
- Typhlosion/Infernape/Charizard
This is my favorite Pokemon game of all time. Just like how botw is my favorite Zelda game, I would argue are not really "traditional" games and can't really be compared with the rest of the franchise.
Why does no one share that you can buy pokeball crafting supplies and recipes from the guy in the far left shop in town? If you did say this, I somehow missed it watching it all the way through. That would’ve been REALLY helpful to know
Nobody is talking about the fact that Colza has the same hairstyle as Gym leader Gardenia, which means she is a descendant of him
Going to start pokemon legends arceus tonight so excited to play it thanks for the amazing content austin
But give it a bit of a heafty price tag so that you have to earn it.
apparently if u want to mint farm, after placing a mint farm order, go to fields and take 20 pokemon. then return to him and it is done farming. then u can order again. other farm order needs lower number of Pokémon to catch before it becomes ready like 15 and 10. goodluck
Austin thank you for adjusting the volume on this one!! Great content Bud, keep them coming!
19:00 you can dodge through Snorlax's legs BTW, HE WILL FOLLOW, but you can get away; use L3 to run
